Hi b3morli, I finally found your vids Yippie! You sound GREAT! I showed them to the wifey and kids today and they loved them. Practice at your place was fun lastnight. Looking forward to our next gig. : )
great job man! i would stay away from using that G Blues scale too much. although I really dig when you hold down that flat 5 (makes my toes curl). good base line too. keep it up.
@KilledbiDeath Organ is much different than Piano :P, but instead of just starting with a B3 to learn on, I'd suggest getting a smaller electric keyboard, you know, so you don't put so much money into it.
I varied the settings in the swell from 888000000 with Percussion to 888000008 without percussion, 888800000 with percussion, and also 808000000 with percussion, leslie fast or slow, as you like.
Fuck you newsnice. He's not most jazz organists, what hes playing is very jazzy and pretty awesome, who cares how he achieves it. And really, most jazz players don't play the pedals, they have a bass player, but seeing as he's not playing with a band right now....
Well then fuck you to. I'm not talking bad about anyone, just pointing out, that ALOT of the hammond players i know about uses the pedals to put flavour to the bas.. Including this player.. Such players as Richard Groove Holmes, Jimmy Smith, Lonnie Smith all play the pedals on both records and live. Plus all the new hammondists out there does the same.. Sorry if i put you off with the truth, didn't intend to..
Hi everybody.....Interessting discussion here. I like it. BTW im really no good hammond player, i play better piano. And i use the bass pedals only for making either some kind of polka-rhythm or just for making a percussion sound by just tipping one pedal rhythmically.......i'm not a professional musician, only my hobby.
@b3morli You sound pro to me! You're shredding this thing... even if you're better on the piano, you make this b3 sound killer. Bass pedals are cool, but the fact that you don't incorporate them doesn't dictate whether you'te good or not. I'd rather listen to a bass guitar in a band context. I appreciate your modesty. I'm a long time drummer and play guitar, but I love the b3 and I wish I could play like that....
Well, just noticed your walking bass lines at a certain point repeat. You use the same combination of notes to mantain the chord. But is pretty good touh.
I'm still trying to learn some new moves and also improve my bass lines. Thanks for the video.

study some ray brown to give you some bass lines. You can do a lot more with I-vi-ii-V than you're doing at the moment..

Any jazz organist know pedals are rarely used when playing being that a bass guitarist is normally present.
hammondkiller 2 years ago
Sorry. But that's just NOT TRUE.. Most jazz organists play bas on the pedels in small combos.

It's kinda funny, seems that all Hammond players are either virtuosos at it, or are well on their way.
Keep it up.
