@zelly2k9 Reds and browns are both excellent switches, but for FPS you might want to look at blacks. Any switch that has a different actuation point from the bottomed out point (blue, red, brown) feels weird when you play FPS games.. though I've gotten used to it.
@TCPG77 I'm typing on reds right now and while the actuation point is higher than the bottomed out point, you don't feel it because it has no tactile feel. So I'd say they're as good for gaming as blacks. Go with blacks if you hit wrong keys often and you want stiffer (requiring more force) switches. Go with reds if you want less activation force. I prefer reds for gaming. I agree that blues and browns might feel a bit awkward in games due to the tactile feel.
Reds are just lighter blacks. They are linear response just like blacks, and they have the same lift off point too.
You are confusing the blue and brown's release point and bottomed out point. MX keys are designed to actuate at middle, so actuation will always be above bottom out.
The problem with browns and blues is that release point is above actuation point. (simply, switch on and click on is same, but on release, click off is above switch on).
This is my sad attempt to type nearly as fast as you can and I don't really know how fast i am going because im using a god damn non mechanical keyboard. Mechanical keyboards make you sound faster. I type 80 on a good day. With an average of 60.
I am really happy with my IBM model M, but would like to try one of these. Is it comparable in terms of typing quality and stuff? What could I reccomend to people if they ask? or is both fine?
@thewii552 I don't have a model M but from what I've read blue switches are comparable, but distinct.. Model M keypresses should definitely be stiffer though. Das uses the same factories as Filco, so the inner parts are of equal quality.. only difference is the casing.
Buying a mechanical keyboard also makes you a more coherent and efficient troll because you're just looking for reasons to use proper punctuation and grammar.
lol i've never known anyone to hit the spacebar with anything other than the thumb. I scatter type because "Home keys/touch typing" seemed annoying to me. Mostly because it was forced on me in school.
thanks for the vid. yea it's kind of odd seeing someone use their right index finger for the space bar lol im trying it out right now and for the life of me i just can't do it lol
yea i hit my spacebar with my right index also, in fact i type almost exactly like that haha

@TCPG77 You are incorrect on reds.
Reds are just lighter blacks. They are linear response just like blacks, and they have the same lift off point too.

@TCPG77 This makes it harder to double tap on blues, because for the key to respond properly, user has to release the key completely.
But browns' actuation and release points are closer, much closer than they work fine for games, and zowie uses them in its gaming keyboards.
