  • if there's a sound effect that we could all agree on to represent "Awesomeness", it would be this.

  • you can hear a thud as its passing by breaking the sound barrier, but it didnt look like it was going that fast

  • dumb bitch started screaming? The fuck?

  • Wow!!

  • one of the coolest vids i've seen in awhile. bird gets obliterated at around the 3-5 second mark also.

  • thats an expensive surfboard

  • Wow, that was cool dude!

  • its a bird alot closer than the plain

  • @fuzzy849 PLANE, not plain you fuckin idot!!! Are you old enough to even be here? Go back to school!!!

  • @bryn51 idiot you fucking dig not idot

  • Comment removed

  • Ya it looks fast but will it beat a millennium falcon?

  • Did anyone notice that thing at the very beginning of the video ?!?! something flys over the jet and gets rapidly pulled down by it!

    WTF was that?!?!?

  • @MachineFight I saw something, then it was gone........things that make you go .....hmmmmmmmmmm....

  • bet he got in some big trouble for that little stunt. "negative ghost rider, the pattern is full"

  • this is one of the solo blue angels at an air show. hes not as close to the boats as he looks.

  • The F-18 Super Hornet

  • @kuigilnguq no F-18C hornet

  • WOW :O

  • swear he hit sumthn at 4 secs

  • holly shit

  • That pilot must be coming in his pants!

  • Blue Angles at San Francisco bay. The line that he flew on was a cleared aerobatic box where no boats were allowed to go.

  • pilot idiot

  • @fantastichouse youtuber dumbass

  • @Classymoto fottiti

  • @fantastichouse Give me 1 reason why the pilot is dumd!

  • @323tiim

I'ts no responsible to fly at trans-sonic speed so close to the ground while risking other people...

Imagine what counld of happen if the pilot losses attention for one split of a second

  • @Daniel325new They dont. They have got 1000's of hours of training for that and they have so much experience.. Not dumb..

  • @323tiim

I didnt say he was dumb...

    I've said its irresponsible

you can't be both a pilot and a dumb perwson

  • @323tiim cant he is the best

  • @p1aged1 what?!

  • Comment removed

  • @p1aged1 you said the pilot was a idiot. i said give me 1 reason why he is a idiot. you said he is the best. i thought you wrote pilot idiot as a stupid joke so i didnt write back. thats what happend

  • @323tiim i didnt write that first comment

  • @323tiim thats funny, i didnt write to you! Some guy said pilot idiot. i said TO HIM give me 1 reason. Then suddenltly you came out and said you couldnt. I wasnt talking to you, why the hell did you comment my comment

  • please check out this cool channel youtube.com/user/tvdonz!!! subscribe coz it is going to be amazing. and yeah i am retarded

  • it looks like he hits something at 0:05...something that looks like a kite or so..

  • @swissgi yes, after watching it four times, it really looks so, i mean it is actually so!

  • @swissgi Thats a bird strike :))

  • Wow that's crazy I can't belive ufos are much faster than that

  • Human Eye!

  • I love it so much!!!!

  • YESSSS!!!!!!!!

  • i think the sea is make up of pee... if the plane were to fly close to u and dangerously low... with alot of potential error ... i am sure everyone would pee

  • @J801506 You're absolutely right, poor spelling is not an indication of a persons intellect, however the level of knowledge being displayed on this subject is impressive. It would indicate that the persons concerned are either very intelligent or have profound insight on the subject being commented on. Considering what that subject is indicates an above average intelligence level is required to understand it. Therefore I found it surprising that hardly any of them could spell. Ha Ha

  • they are lucky if they got away with it

  • Im impressed by the knowledge some people have regarding this video, its somewhat surprising that hardly any of them can spell.

  • what if he was flying in and hit the mast of a sailboat

  • @mooshminky55 there would be a crash....

  • hay its the X-jet

  • that was not past speed of soudn, when the shock wave is that vertical on the aircraft it is still below the sound barrier.

  • that was faster than sound, you can tell by the cloud type thing at the back and also how out of sync the sound was

  • @rilosafe1 not quite the speen of sound since the wake was so close the spead of sound the wake would of been about 20 meaters behinde

  • @rilosafe1 that is also caused if your close to water your speed will pick up condensation and makes mist

  • such a sweet sound at the end!!!!!!!

  • Shock wave hitting the water. I bet that ruined the fishing.

  • omg sonic boom air thing going on there

yeah f-18 cant see the blue very well

  • no wonder it looks like f-18, blue angel use these jet.

  • who is the idiot? most plane speed tests done close to sea level!!! DOH!! speed at sea level is 7 hundred something,,, at 30,000 feet up it takes less speed to break the barrier

  • yea but the plane can go like fourteen hundred miles an hour

  • @bobphatbhat what matters is the ground speed the airspeed changes with altitude by the ground speed stays the same.

  • so no one ever saw a sneak pass at a Blue Angel show? what a bunch of tards

  • awsome never knew someone could break the sound barrier at that low altitude

  • You can break the sound barrier at ANY altitude its all about speed not altitude.

  • @Stormwind187: yeah i know.. just saying that i never saw and aircraft fly that low while breaking the sound barrier :P

  • Ah haha just saying :P

  • It's Blue Angels in San Franchisko

  • Blue Angels baby, fleet week San Fran, SWEET!!

  • court martial anyone?

  • @Thefallenraptor no.. its a blue angel

  • Rapid condensation of water vapor due to a sonic shock produced at sub-sonic speed creates a vapor cone known as a PrandtlGlauert singularity. This aircraft is traveling in what is known as the transonic range about mach 0.81.2 where the airflow around the aircraft is in regions at, above and below the speed of sound. It is remarkable to see a pilot travelling at such a speed so close to the ground and so close to boats people and potentially unstable air, absolutely ZERO room for error.

  • @ChrisPCrunchy WTF?

  • @ChrisPCrunchy

    Naaaahhhh Your wrong..

  • @ChrisPCrunchy i was just gunna say the same thing

  • @ChrisPCrunchy in lamen terms crazy as hell and siiiick!

  • @ChrisPCrunchy thats a long way to say thats a cool video, and skillful pilot

  • @ChrisPCrunchy woulda been funny if there was one

  • im not tryin to insult anyone. just saying this plane isnt going supersonic as several other here claim.

    Im educating

  • BlueAngels at the San Francisco Fleet Week 2007 FTW ^^

  • Tuyệt quá !

  • not fake. this is a Blue Angle's demonstration in San Francisco. They do this part of the demonstration every year. The FA-18 is in transonic flight just a couple meters above the water. the shockwave of the aircraft causes the water below to jet upwards

  • Comment removed

  • omg loool

    course youll hear it

you hear every thing that makes a sounds... derrrrrr

but just very delayed if it broke the sound barrier

    :D

  • i was talking to all the youtube aviation experts that hav seen too many movies.

I laugh at the level of intelligence expressed by all those aviation experts on this thread.

F18 DID NOT break the sound barrier....other wise you woulda hear it. not seen it.

sorry, do a little more research then we'll talk.

  • You retard that was the jet approaching the sound barrier when it breaks the sound barrier you hear the boom and the cone of...mist (no i don't know the technical name...) dissipates so why don't you shut the fuck up and leave people alone you are neither their mother their teacher or there fucking master who are you to criticize people at all let alone on the internet do you really have such a shit life?

  • "cone of mist"....lol

im not sure if i should waste time trying to explain to you.

maybe you shouldnt post anymore, it just makes you look ignorant on the subject. If you drop the shit attitude I will explain mach, airspeed, condensation, mach tuch and transonic drag ro you. It aint that hard to understand.

  • you must have degrees in aeronautical engineering, right?

  • You can insult me on my knowledge on a subject that has nothing to do with my career and educational paths it really means nothing to me i gave a description based on appearances and stated so, you can try an insult me on that all you want but its like telling a blind man he's blind...you just look like a fool i if you like could choose to insult you on a topic that you have no insight in, ultimately pointless. the simple fact is you are a pompous rude arrogant man child and nothing

  • Plus the fact that i am right he was approaching the sound barrier and he slowed to turn out at the end of the video.

  • Fuck mate your a wanker!!!

  • youtube aviation experts.....one of a kind.

  • The JET wasn't going supersonic; he was going about Mach.89. At that speed, airflow over certain areas will go supersonic, which will cause vapor on wings, tail, etc. The vapor "cone" is from the air being suddenly pressurised as a great big piece of fast metal shoves it out of the way. Pilot was lucky not to hit that bird; if it had been in the wrong spot...BAM! He would have killed a number of people, if they were in those boats. A jet going that fast will make a BIG path of destruction.

  • THANK YOU!!!! Dude the original person who uploaded this video had so many comments about the jet going supersonic!!!!! no fucking way its like you said a huge path of destruction including him crashing into the water!!!!!

  • Both wrong...

Sound barrier is, that you break it or not.

But this plane was on the limit continuously, there was no sound barrier brake! When there is, you lose the "cone", and you have the sonic boom.

And...the Commercial Airliner Jets "condensation clouds" not even close to this effect here...

Russian fighter jets were "breaking" the sound barrier over our city, day by day, back in the 80s, when they were stationed here

    Excuse me Guyz

  • oriskany's right

    stfu beergut111

  • You STFU. You have no idea what you are talking about.

  • dont worry abotu what i do....in fact it would probly be better if you just didnt post anymore....it just makes you look ignorant.

  • I'm not worried about looking ignorant. I can handle it, even when I'm wrong. About the vapor on an airliners wings, you're right about that. I actually mis-stated when I said that the vapor is from the air being compressed. It is technically the opposite. Bernoulli says the faster air goes, the LESS P it has. The effect of the shock wave drops the P around the aircraft, and vapor condeses in low P area. P drops when air is accel. over the wing; once airflow goes super., P drop causes the vapor.

  • i wasnt talking to you.

  • Good. I don't like being called names. I'm a very sensitive vegitable. (That's supposed to be spelled wrong.) By the way, I like your name. I have one of those too, you know. Too much Blackbeary Wheat (it's really good beer). Oh well. shit happens.

  • wrong. there was no aftermath of the sockwave passing the tail. I.e. a sonic boom.

that halo dont mean anything. the more humid outside the better chances of seeing one. Airline jets make those same condensation clouds.

  • Condensation from an airliner is a TOTALLY different thing. A jet engine at 35,000ft (or a piston engine, for that matter) leaves a trail of vapor because it burns hydrocarbon fuel. It is very cold at altitude. When you burn fuel, one of the products is H20. When hot water vapor hits -20 degree air, it condenses and forms vapor clouds. This jet is over SF bay, + air is humid. Air is compressed by suddenly being shoved aside, + the water condenses. This varies with temp, humidity, air pressure.

  • Im not refering to contrails. Watch an airline jet with a high lift ratio on a humid day and you'll see the same thing on their wings. Watch the engine inlets is another place.

the sound barier being broken is defined by an audible bang as the front and rear of the aircraft pass through the transonic envelope.

  • The halo comes right BEFORE you break the sound barrier, dude. Sorry.

  • watch where the plane comes in, a bird gets hit

  • the bird did not get directly impacted. it was just knocked out of its flight because of the shockwave being produced at such high speeds.

  • The mist has to do with how much moisture is in there air. If your 10 feet above water.... well you can put two and two together.

  • it causes that mist even if ur 14000 feet above water because the water vapor in the air condenses because of the sudden change in pressure

  • Poor birdy

  • was that on sonic boom or the water rising up?

  • fleet week in san francisco... its happening this weekend.... check out the "star wars in san francisco" vid.... even better....

  • dude you just got -2 thumbs for your comment.... why is it that every video with a jet in it brings out the F#cking fact nerds!

  • This F-18 is subsonic/supersonic, which you can see on the airmolecules around the fuselage. Pretty cool.

  • is that a bird? at the beggining?

  • no boom. there's your answer.

  • well do u see the halo of mist around the plane thats because hes on the verge of breaking the speed of sound your aloud to show the speed by showing the halo of mist but your not aloud to break the speed at that altitude as it has severe cosiquences smashings windows deathening people ect.

  • wee?

  • well those yatchs would have been wrecked if it was a supersonic flyby... the windows cracks with the pressure I saw it on mythbusters

  • Lol yea if it was going fast enough it would have blown peoples ear drums out too

  • no it wouldnt

  • Lol I think it would if he was going like mach which is illegal that low it would blow out windows it would sound like a bomb and it could blow peoples ear drums out

  • ive heard a sonic boom and while it is loud it will not break eardrums

  • Yea you will never here the boom that can take your ear drums out because pilots are obviously not allowed to go that fast in a place where people are. If a jet goes fast enough like its top speed close to the ground in a populated area it will bust windows out and it can blow ear drums, but they cant. Its in the thousands of mph. O if you dont have your ears covered too, but they only go that fast higher up. Air show sonic booms wont do it.

  • eh it isnt THAT dramatic... it would kinda hurt a lil bit but not that bad =\

  • the poor bird hittern by de plane...

  • poor bird =/

  • look you can see that it broke the sound barrier so it was travelling at atleast M1

  • what about the bird who crash with plane when video starts????

  • LOL

  • how do they get permission to make passes like this?

  • INSANE!!!!!

    OMFG

  • actual he never id the sound barrier it would of made a wave and it would of probably knocked some of the people off the boats that wear realy close

  • Is that San Francisco ?

  • yes

  • yep. F-18. Blue Angels. they do some shows over the summer around the S.F. Bay. nice to see

  • xineis otan to akous!!!!

  • cool!

it was the effect of going super sonic, i suppose

  • The vapour cone is called the Prandtl Glauert Singularity. It occurs due to the massive pressure change in moist air at transsonic speeds.

    This wasn't a supersonic pass.

  • test

  • he wasnt going fast then sound,, cause would you see the jet then hear the sound,, I think, that makes sense to me.. someone educate me?

  • actually your wrong if you know science its called 'te doppler effect' its where when something breaks the sound barrier the sound wave comes behind it, is like an olymic athlete and a very slow person the slower one comes behind so as the jet races on by the sound comes behind it becuase its more powerful than the sound barrier

  • AHAHHAHAHHH wtf does the doppler effect hve to do with this ??? doppler effect is the pitch change in a passing sound... wtf u on about ?

  • The Doppler effect has to do with the 'pitch' of a sound wave. As the wave (produced by an object) approaches, the sound wave gets compressed, this increases it's pitch. As the object passes, the sound that it creates ( sound wave), becomes 'stretched', thereby producing a perception of a 'drop' in pitch. The sound barrier, or rather the perception, or hearing, of an object 'after' it passes, has to do with the difference in the speed of light (seeing it), and the speed of sound.

  • Let me rephrase what I said. The reason for why you perceive the jet as being 'in front' of the sound, has to do with the fact that the visual and auditory systems of the brain are receiving data (sound and light) from two 'different' layers of space (the jet is travelling faster than the sound wave, thus the wave is behind the aircraft). This produces the perception of the sound coming after the jet. Sorry, for the rambling.

  • the doppler effect is a change in sound frequency when a sound source is moving towards or away from you. try picking up a physics book sometime and don't believe everything you read on wikipedia.

  • You're wrong. The doppler effect happens at subsonic speeds as well. You do not have to break the sound barrier to produce the doppler effect.

  • wow thats illiegal for the blue ngels to go that low but who caress cool

  • lol at that lady scream

  • Comment removed

  • I dont think its that, its illegal to go supersonic near land isnt it ?

i reckon its just water spray

  • He never actually broke the sound barrier. Taking into account the amount of water vapor that formed because he was traveling so fast, he was probably going .90 to .99 mach. and I looked into the sound barrier law and everyone thinks it is that you are not allowed to do it over heavily crowded areas, however, the law states that you are only able to break the sound barrier in Government approved locations. (That includes over the ocean)

  • Yea but 30 miles out

  • we dont care, the maneuver was just awesome man XD

  • Hey Einstein....this isn't over the ocean. It is in SF Bay. The ocean reference is to keep the public safe and not cause any damage to structures. That is why is such a big deal when a non-approved sonic boom is caused by a careless fighter pilot over land. The police, fire, TV news all receive hundreds of phone calls when it happens. The only legal sonic boom that I know of right now is when the space shuttle re-enters the atmosphere near Florida. It creates two sonic booms.

  • @Swordsfor200Alex actually wrong sonic boom s are allowed i n very remotely populated areas as well at certain altitudes in certain areas. think of the landlocked air force bases how would they train their fighter pilots for super sonic flight they couldn't under your idea of the law.

  • @Swordsfor200Alex

2 days after 9/11 just north of chicago 2 jets broke the sound barrier which was the loudest thing ive ever heard...it sounded like a train hit my house...then couple seconds later another sonic boom..rattling the house and knocking things off of the shelves. everyone in my neighbor hood was freaked out...along with my dog...pretty cool once i knew what it was.

  • that was sick

  • dude that shit is scarey when it hits sonic boom ciz it looks like a alien ship from the back

  • ....that was a sonic boom! lol

  • yeah that deep on a harbour O_o ...

  • It knocks a bird out of the air in mid flight. If this is fake, that's a very nice addition. Either way its a great video. I think its real lol.

  • nice video - thanks for posting

  • ya ok how the fuck do you know its fake

  • lol noob that is not fake at all! It's a F-18 Blue Angel breaking the sound barrier at low altitude

  • he's about to break it, he doesnt quiet go through the sound wave thing (whatever it is called) but almost does, if he broke it, the lens would have shattered.

  • Not necessarily true. The FA-18 broke the sound barrier because you can hear the distinct crack at 0:11 Also, Sonic booms do not always break glass. depends on the glass and atmospheric pressure.

  • I also believe it's not flying at the speed of sound, although it might be, i'm not an expert. but what is that awesome sonicboom-like at the end?

  • the white cone is a phenomenon called Prandtl-Glauert condensation which can occur when an aircraft is flying at or near the speed of sound

  • Nice bit of information there phlipper280,thanks man.

  • Although when you are flying over a freaking large body of water where evaporation is taking place it can occur at much lower speeds. More like 350mph-400mph with the humidity and temperature that day over the bay. It isn't close to 750mph as some novice scholars on here believe.

  • that cone around the tail section is awesome.

  • Nice :)
