Another Reason to Vote No on I-1000 (WA I-1000)

Liberals want to give you an abortion but they won't give you a way out? Let me get this straight. You can legally murder an unborn child. You can make the decision for another living being that they live or die. But you cannot decide that you have lived enough and you are ready to move on. You cannot "abort" yourself. This is sick. The liberals just don't want to lose a tax payer. That is all. It is a sad day when you can murder a baby, but you can't make decisions about your own life.

@huaini I once had your perspective and you are entitled to it. Research it though and you will find there are dangers to allowing a bill that would make legal PAS. Insurers might opt for this treatment rather than those that would be life saving when considering cost. PAS is an escape route for physicians that are unethical or might suggest PAS over lifesaving treatments. PAS might be abused by family members. There are already institutions in place that can allow one to legally take their...

Their are real dangers and implications with PAS and euthanasia and I would suggest you research it if you haven't already to understand why this issue isn't solely about a patients right to his or her own life.

TPV525, it might interest you to know that 64% of the YES campaign money comes from outside Washington . In comparison only 42% of the NO campaign funds are from out of state, according to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission. Remind me again who's imposing their values on us Washingtonians?

I find it interesting that some of the common sense information is not being talked about. For instance, Fox News ran an article and series with the title: "Oregon Offers Terminal Patients Doctor-Assisted Suicide Instead of Medical Care", on Monday, July 28, 2008. It can be found by googling that title.

Barbara Wagner is dead - did she have any idea what she was saying "no" to? Maybe this campaign told her that I-1000 would legalize shooting disabled people. We can't ask her.

Shame on these people for exploiting this poor woman. It's not bad enough they want to force their moral values on everybody in the state - now they've manipulated her into being a spokesman from the grave. I'm voting Yes on I-1000.

RobHep: Could you provide some more pointed information? It is unclear from this video if the Insurance Company would have covered End Of Life treatment anyway, but this is a good point. Any information as to how Insurance Companies have behaved towards providing EOL care when a suicide option are available would be very useful.

Rather interesting comment. Insurance companies have already verified they will not pay for health care unless it will substantially improve the condition. They will pay for the lethal drugs in some cases since they were sued to do so. And by the way, she made this video - it has been on TV for awhile now. Lying to voters? Try reading the Oregon State law and the statistics, and the actual Washington State law they are trying to pass now.

This is awful. These people should be ashamed of themselves, blatantly lying to voters and exploiting a dying woman.

I hope people vote YES on 1000 so that patients can make their own decisions.
