@prettykiray any song that she has written or co-written has always involved her life or loves and she has always allowed her fans deep into what her life has handed her, if you read any press realeases just prior or following her songs it maps out her life and what she was going through. and IMO makes a great artist. not many do that they listen to what the studio wants pushed out forgetting music is art not just a way to make a quick buck. another artisit who reminds me of melissa is P!nk..

I grew up listening to this. I have a distinct memory of having a dancing contest with my friend. She asked me if I had the Britney Spears CD we had listened to at her house and I shook my head and ran to my room, coming back with a Melissa CD. I started dancing to it and then my friend said "...I don't know how to dance to music like this."

That was when I realized I was raised differently than most suburban families where I lived.
