  • This animation, I swear I've seen this type before.

  • @Ashfangirl22 Its Don Bluth. An American Tail, The Secret of NIHM, ect

  • It's Scat Cat!!!

  • @Gundamknight100 Yep, same actor. He's also the voice of Hong Kong Phooey.

  • @MichaelSar12IsBack no wonder the theme song kicked ass

  • so many of these bits and animation sequences will be reused by bluth

  • here you can already see some of the animation genius that will be used in An American Tale, and The Aristocats

  • oh crazy legs you so crazy.

  • this 30-minute movie was made in 1979 although it did take place in 1944 which is the year when don bluth was 7 years old. since the movie was inspired by his childhood. since he was born in 1937 and according to his website he was raised in a farm which is the exact farm that banjo came from. it's an explanation go on ahead and look it up.

  • that damn scarf keeps switching places

  • Is it just me or do the character designs seem... a little racist by today's standards?

  • Omg, Crazy Legs. I haven't seen this in 20 years, since I was a little kid. This is bringing back so many memories.

  • SO SPARKLEY!

  • G1 Jazz for the win heheheheheheheh

  • Why do... umm.. These cats have lips?

  • 6:26 : Scatman the Cat-Pimp !

  • If a cat that sparkled reached out and pet me like that, it would scare me shitless. I am just sayin'...

  • OMG! HONG KONG PHOOEY!

  • Only in cartoons can you meet a complete stranger and let them take you home.

  • Scatman as a Cat again???

Wow he's kinda typecast aint he?

  • How come Crazy Legs is so much taller than...

Ya know what? It's a Don Bluth movie.

  • I remember when I was a kid it bugged me that the cats had lips... because I knew my cats didn't have any lips.

But apparently I didn't care if they were singing, wearing clothes or sparkling. :|

  • @wakebreakers haha, im a kid, and its REALLY bugging me cause they have lips right now xD

  • I am suck of that too! I mean I can't go to no sticken store without some kid movie with all these happy pappy characters with no meaning!

  • doesn't thumbelina say the same thing "i'm cold,i'm wet and i wanna go home"...i miss don bluths movies....

  • I can see Jazz helping Sam and Me like that finding Optimus Prime and I'm talking about the newest look of Optimus Prime from Michael Bay's Transformers

  • Crazy Legs' voice is from something else...what is it?

  • @werewolf9613 He was also Scat Cat from Aristocats. Maybe you are thinking of that?

  • @Pcktmouse That's it! Thanks!

  • @Pcktmouse Come to think of it he's also a cat from Top Cat. He really likes cats huh?

  • *EEEEEP!* Scatman Crothers! love that guy, I remember him best as Crazy legs (and Scat Cat of course)

  • SO CUTE! xD

  • did th man who did this do all dogs go to heaven coz the characters look th same

  • @abbielovesoasis: Yep, sure did

  • @yamiyugifangirl ahh i new i recignised it. all dogs go to heaven is immense...mite have to watch it tonite

  • @abbielovesoasis

yup, and this is made by don bluth too

  • such a tiny kitten!! I remember when my best friend's cat had kittens! I'd never seen such a consistent litter--three orange tabbies, two siamese looking ones, and one black kitten! it was straight out of a cartoon or something! the siamese "twins" (pardon my joke) were the only females of the litter...I wish we could have kept them all! :D

  • So adorable, I just watched this movie for the first time yesterday, its pure cuteness <3

  • Those female cats have no ears?

  • @TheBestKindOfFailure: pause at 3:56 and you will find Zazu's ear. Choleo's (sp) ears are probably hidden in that hair of hers but Marlana I have no clue

  • did don bluth do thumbelina? it looks like it.

  • reminds me of the american tail

  • They look like a weird cross between an otter, a dog and a red panda.

  • Scatman Crothers as the cat. You don't have classic performers like him these days. Singer, actor, amazing voice and this magic reassuring presence he had.

  • @KahnBB6 Some of my favorite characters he gave life to, Hong Kong Phooey, Scat Cat and Jazz.

  • what is that song that Zazu, Chleo and Melina were singing? i like those kinds of songs ^.^

  • What's amusing about this, is that a cat in my neighborhood's name is Banjo XD

  • as i said b4 UGLY ASS CATS!

  • I've always appreciated Don Bluth's animations.

  • @ChibiGoth13 They are the best examples of great animation. It sucks that a lot of his movies where always underated, though I still love them.

  • Scatman's song was definelty the predecessor to Duo from American Tale.

  • @scottof83 I loved "We're a Duo", but this song has it's own charm too.

  • @CrimsonNineTail This had to have been inspiration for him later

  • @ZoloLover Oh most deffinetly (typo)

  • 'I'm stick with you' is very good ^^ ... But the three cats in purple, pink and blue are very scary ^^... and when I saw this video I remembered 'The Aristocats'.

  • AH AH! FLAW! Banjo wasn't wearing his scarf when he began singing xD

  • I was named Banjo from this Movie, I was born In 82. Whats up with the larger lips of the "Black" cats? I hate that shit.

  • Why did Crazy wear that Santa Claus suit?

  • the geography in this movie says a lot about Don Bluth's childhood...

  • First crazy has the scarf out side of the club and banjo didn't.

Then in one shot they both have scarves

Then Banjo has the scarf and Crazy didn't.

Then they both have scarves on again.

I'm not nit-picking it's just amusing is all.

  • Knowing it's Scatman as CrazyLegs i can't help but think that Jazz From Transformers could sing this to a Human kid that got lost

  • @CyndellWarrior That's cute

  • that can is enormous o.o

  • Alright Scatman!!!

Otherwise known as Jazz, and Blaster from Transformers

  • Correction!!!!: He only Played Jazz, my mistake -blush-

  • i don't know why, but i just love how Don does Fur and hair. It's not perfect and neat like what you see other animators do. I guess it was one of many reasons why I loved his work so much.

  • kinda reminds me of the secret of Nime, because of the characters.

  • @chihanachan It was made by Don Bluth, who made the Secret of Nihm and many others.

  • OMG it looks like the American Tale characters D:

  • It's cause they're both done by Don Bluth Productions. :) Like the singers look kinda like the girl penguins from The Pebble and The Penguin (another Don Bluth movie). He has a whole lot of stuff. Look him up on Wikipedia. :)

  • wow your right ohalove lol

  • that scarf sure srunk quickly.

  • @iamsarahjo it even changes color ;)

  • Don Bluth has made so many cartoons through out the decades, but the way he animates them has never changed.

  • crazy legs and scat cat sure favor each other, as a matter of fact aristocats came from Banjo it seems.

  • Actually, The Aristocats came out first in 1970. Banjo came out nearly ten years later!

  • Zazu and Crazy Legs are my other favorite in this movie, heck the song they sing is my favorite too XDDD

  • Thank god he has all those nice black people to take care of him

  • Agree, last generation rocked! So glad to be a part of it :)

  • crazy legs doubled in size O.O

  • god i miss this era... I mean, not only this classic animation, but the age just produced cartoons of so much better quality. Today, it's rare, if ever, to find such quality... It's funny, today's stuff is considered "my generation", yet I cannot stand it. Last generation was so much better, lol. What has the world come to, when a guy has to hate on his OWN generation, instead of the next one?

  • ur not alone. i miss this stuff. the new junk is like, poser gangsta, poser 80's- bellbottom jeans are called flares. it so retarded its sad to even be around the people of this "new generation". i agree the last generation where the cartoon drawings were great cause they weren't perfect. keep on being true to the early or late 90's thats when it mattered. even these cartoons matter.

  • I agree with you 100%

both the 80's and 90's were the perfect era for animation.

But now a days it's like they don't care, just patch up crappy animation, dialogue, terrible songs and storyline just to get money off of kids.

I really miss the old days, and I'm 17 o-o

  • I'm 15 and I miss the old cartoons.

  • good on you.

  • Couldn't have said it better myself; movies like this have suffered the same loss of originality that plagues other genres. Everyone who cares about classic animation should tip their hats to Don Bluth for his remarkable work.

  • i know what u mean, im 18 and i still watch cartoons from the 90's back. id say that the 90's posed as the greatist time for cartoons yet the fall of them at the same time because of peaple like Ted Turner.

  • @bjincs002 yea espacally because people are more interested of grafic and animation instead of a good story...

  • @bjincs002,

you and I are on the same page, my friend. Whatever happened to stories that had themes, emotions, and morals? When you actually felt really happy or really sad at the end of a movie ( and I mean the good, "Oh I learned something valuable, but still sad" type of sad). When you actually gave a damn about the characters, and felt they could be your friends if they ever existed in real life? It's all gone! It's like it vanished! It can't be that hard to make quality stuff these days!

  • @bjincs002 sounds just like me with music. Can i help it if the Boss can whip Bieber's ass? XD

  • @bjincs002 man, i wish i could thumbs up that a billion times

  • @bjincs002 This might sound like I'm getting off subject, but it's just like with Drew Struzan's (look him up) works on movie posters. No one in the WORLD--except maybe Japan--doesn't want to do drawn movie posters anymore because it doesn't fit our "generation". Why don't we see 2-D animation anymore? Because it doesn't fit "us," the viewers--or so the executives say. I hear Don Bluth is coming out with a new film, so maybe it'll bring some of this magic back. "Never say 'Never'" right? :)

  • This cartoon has brilliant colorful animation! Kinda reminds me of the Rescuers animation.

Crazy Legs is dressed up like Santa!

  • Wow. This reminds me of 'An American Tail' so much it isn't funny. Bluth sticks to a consistent animation style doesn't he?

  • @SonicDude87 Yes, and I like the style, the animation done to Sharptooth from LBT, the dragon Cinge, from Dragon's Lair and Ganorga from TiCP. His character designs for the heroes are great too. Dirk the Daring, Thumbalina and so on.

  • @SonicDude87 hey if it aint broke, don't fix it!

  • @Grothfogtheviolent1

    AMEN!! =D

  • @SonicDude87

No kidding, even Dragon's Lair looked similar to his other movies!

  • @SonicDude87 Yeah, his animation style either looks good (like here) or simply too chubby and awkward when the characters' faces won't stop twitching (like 'the Troll in Central Park')

  • @SonicDude87 reminds me of the aristocats xD

  • @CatWolfWarrior2

It certainly is ironic that Scatman Crothers also lent his voice to The Aristocats.

  • I used to watch this when I was little, back in the 80's... I feel like I'm 6 years old again!

  • Why do Zazu and Crazy Legs have such big lower lips?? =S

  • Uhhhhm...(note:I don't mean to offend anyone) it's an ethnic thing...like, to show that they're black.

  • I think they're supposed to be reminiscent of black people. :p

  • yeah i straight up cryed this whole second part - grandma use to sing this song to me man memories are amazing thanx for posting this !!!!

  • wow...never seen this cartoon before. he looks so CUTE!!!! =^^=

  • sounds like zataran!!

  • I love Bluth's animation!

lol the pink cat with the yellow hair reminds me of The Marvolous Madam Mim from The Sword and the Stone :3

  • 4:52 LOOKS like musical number Feivel and Tiger did..from American tail

  • Oh my god, I love that song!

  • Banjo reminds me of Fivel from An American Tale.

  • I THOUGH IT TOO!

  • OMG!.... i cannot believe this. i have been looking for this cartoon for 25 yrs.... my dad recorded it for me when i was 5 yrs old.. but then he missed the ending ... and i had been wondering how this cartoon wld ended for all these yrs.

I was just trying my luck on google.. thx!

  • some how the tall purple cat and the blue cat remind me of blaze the cat(from sonic rush) if you compare them....

  • I swear, Crazy Legs is the secret love child of Scatcat from The Aristocats, and King Louie from The Jungle Book.

That "I'll Stick With You" song is a real catchy tune. I've got a feeling I'll be humming it all day.

  • Metaphorically speaking, you have a point. Crazy Legs does have that jazzy atitude. Speaking of him, his voice sounds familiar but I can't place it.

  • Crazy Legs was voiced by the late Scatman Crothers. If you remember, he was in such movies as One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and The Shining (he played a cook).

  • Nope don't know those, I was thinking more like another cartoon character or an old comedian from the past.

  • Well, he was Scat Cat in The Aristocats...

  • *A-la Peanuts character* "THAT'S IT!" Thanks, I was puzzled about that.

  • Dick Holloran

  • Banjo kinda reminds me of Edmond. Another cat (well sort of) in a Don Bluth film.

  • "Rock-A-Doodle"! I love that film! And you're kinda right except Edmond isn't a troublemaker and doesn't make wrong choices.

  • I meant the way he's drawn. But yeah, their pesonalities are alot different.

  • Oh, well in the way they're drawn then yeah, you're right.

  • I'm not sure but I think Don Bluth himself hleps animate some of his movies.

  • Yes, he draws most of the characters.

  • 6:23 he has a peter pan hat in his hands. :D

  • Same here. never heard of it, but Banjo is pretty cute, and Don bluth is a genius! lol

  • Wow, I've never heard of this movie. This might be the most catlike Don Bluth's cats have ever looked, LOL. (Er.. minus the earless, multicolored dancers.) But the small one's real cute.

  • Those mouth movements...I just love Don Bluth's style!

  • 3:48 both have a scarf???

  • Crazy Legs put his scarf around Banjo. The scarf fit Crazy Legs perfectly but it's too big for Banjo. That kinda resembles Fievel getting his hat that once belonged to his dad. The hat fit Papa perfectly but it wast too big for Fievel.

  • Didn't Scatman also do the voice of Hong Kong Phoeey?

  • Yes, he did.

  • wow i didnt know that. cool

  • I love how in Don Bluth movies, some animals wear clothing while others don't... :-D

  • 2:30, wearing scarf...

    3:02, not wearing scarf...

    3:48, wearing scarf again...

  • Of course, they were concentrating more on re-learning animation techniques than whether his scarf was in continuity. You'll find in part one Banjo was completely off-model for nearly a minute when he arrives in Salt Lake City!

  • He very often doesn't look very cat-like. He sort of alternates between kitten, puppy, and fox.

  • huh... the scarf seems to like to magically change it's wearer.

  • Hey, isn't that the dude who was in the shining? You know, the one who tried to help the kid out but got killed by Jack Nichol-- oh, sorry.

  • Scatman Crothers? Yes, it is.

  • Ah I love this, I haven't seen this since I was 6! I used to love the 'sparkles' in the rain puddles and how the Cat Sisters twinkled! At the beginning Banjo was sent to find a switch - what is that?

  • Basically his dad was telling him, "Find me a stick so I can hit you with it."

  • thats what you are

  • I remember seeing this movie as a kid a long time ago. It was one of my favorites. I especially love Bluth's color of animals...pink, purple, and a blue cat. This movie is a classic

  • He made this with some other disney animators out of his garage...Gary Goldman came to my school and taught an animation class...we watched this and he told us all about it.

    Its so good

  • Banjo reminds me of Todd, from The ox and the hound.

  • *fox. haha, ox.

  • this movie sure encourages seeking help from strangers a lot. anyways, what a find! this is like traveling back in time.

  • This seems alot like Oliver and Company. Also, I love Don Buth's style. Didn't he do An American Tale?

  • Banjo has the same voice actor as feivel i think

  • This is great.

For some reason it reminds me of Tailchaser's Song.

Lol, Crazy Legs is like the pigeon in American Tale XD

  • The female kitties were so beautiful!

  • I love the three lady cat singers, they're sparkely and colorful!!!

  • He's very much a cat version of Fivel :D

  • Don Bluth always had a way with his animated movies. He put humor in but always made sure there was a moral in each movie he did. It's so rare to find animated movies like that today.

  • The cat sisters is so beautiful and sexy^^

The my favorite part is that where Banjo, CrazyLegs and the cat sisters singing and dancing.

  • This is such a cute cartoon! I'm sorry I never saw it. Also Banjo reminds me of Edmond from Rock a Doodle.

  • The are both by Don Bluth. I grew up with his movies.

  • lOL I REMEMBER my favorite character was zazoo and crazy legs.

  • i love all of don bluth's movies, they are all so wonderful and cool!

  • "You like lamb, Banjo? You don't? Well what's your favorite food then?"

    *lol*

    watch?v=dMO2iYxLMyE&feature=user

  • Is this the same guy who did All Dogs go to Heaven?

  • who burt renonlds? no its not him

  • It's the same artist Don Bluth, yes. Burt Reynolds was the voice of Charlie in All Dogs Go to Heaven

  • Sounds like Andy from Amos and Andy.

  • I always loved Don Bluth's drawing style where the mouthes just go nuts, and for some of Don Bluth's evil characters you can see the gums of their teeth.

  • Zazu was animated by the same supervising animator of Jenner from "The Secret of NIMH" by John Pomeroy.

TRIVIA: Scatman Crothers' role as CrazyLegs may be a reference to his previous animated role as ScatCat from Disney's "Aristocats". ; )

  • Cool, i also noticed the puppies in the last scene were a awful lot like Copper from the Fox and the Hound.

  • that leaves us the hint that Don Bluth was one of the animators of fox and the hound.... and which was undercredited for and left early production
