We have choice now, businesses are under pressure to beat competition and the best way of doing that is moving to nations like China where labour is cheap. By the way, 35% is hardly a majority and belies his "oligarchy" argument. Reich loves unions but that is politics not economics. And PLEASE, there was plenty of innovation and new technology between 1945 and 1975 (ie the discovery of DNA, the microchip, space travel) and on and on.

Robert Reich is smart and I enjoy listening to him but sometimes he is blinded by ideology. Most jobs are created by small companies and this has been true for decades. He uses statistics selectively - like saying 35% of the American workforce was unionized in the 1940s but now only 8% of "private sector" employees are unionized.

yeah I agree with you there when he says healtcare should decouple from jobs I fear for those who can't pay healthcare bills or get healthcare in other ways..
