Audie Murphy did some amazing things, but that probably was because he was psychotic. He had no regard for his own life and luck was on his side. His 1955 biographical movie (where the footage for this video obviously comes from), was just 10 years after the war; but I suppose he forgot what a German uniform is supposed to look like. The movie was so cheesey; they used the WW1 steel helmets for the Germans and practically no field gear. The famous battle at the end was supposed to be in winter.

I would have given you a thumbs up for this, if not for the music. I won't give it a thumbs down, because Audie Murphy is a true hero and you made a good attempt to honor him. I believe (IMHO) that contemporary music, from Audie's time, would have been more appropriate.

While the information was valid, I really only would like to say that the presentation was extremely cliched, try to use classical/period music not Kanye West and Rise Against. Also, when looking at Audie I can see the potential for his impacts, however, you talk about what his life exposes about American life. Sadly, you failed to truly analyze HIS impact.

Obviously the music is a little controversial, but it was a decision on my part as I feel that newer music makes the information more compelling and in a competition where judges may watch 10 other documentaries before they see this one, I think it makes it stand out a little more.

another thing about history day, is that it is limited to 10 minutes, and it was very difficult to explain all of what he accomplished AND all the impacts they had, we did our best to bring a balance of both.

You did a fantastic job. I've been a fan of Audie since I was a kid in the 50s. If you think of adding to the story, you could include facts about his family's terrible poverty during the Depression. Also, Audie's small stature, about 5'4" and 120 lbs, makes him a role model for kids with esteem problems. Audie, by the way, rivaled John Wayne for most popular western star for many years. Way to go on your work.

Thanks for this documentary! I'm fully impressed with you young guys for caring enough about Audie to do this. It's a real tribute to one of our finest Americans. 90 percent of the country don't even know who Audie is at all. I know because I talked about him often to people. Hopefully videos like this one will help make a dent in that number. Keep up the good work, guys.

This documentary amazes me every time I see it. I am so fascinated by all of the visual components in this excellent documentary. It truly angers me that this wasn't an award winning documentary. It clearly has all of the right components/material needed to succeed at the national level. I believe that if the judges watched every documentary with an unbiased view, there would really be no competition with this amazing documentary. I hope to be working with you next year!

This was an excellent video and I find it hard to believe it garnered no awards at the national level.

In retrospect, if you do a biography like this again you might try alternating with someone on the voiceover. You have a good voice, but a little variety helps (that's why there are usually 2 anchors on TV news). Copyright is a pain to work with, but a Murphy voice clip would have been a hit.
