  • This video is excellent.I used to sing this song to all of my children while they were in utero and all 3 of them turned out to be avid musicians. It has serious mystical powers.

  • this is so amazing! im 15 years old and i wanna lissen this music 24/7! Jimi is god!!!

  • "gold and rose the color of the velvet walls surround us" he was just as well spoken as his guitar!

  • @stillmaticz847 Im glad you bring this up! I notice everyone appreciating his guitar playing but not much his meaningful spoken words

  • I get the shivers whenever I hear this tune

  • DUDE THIS IS AWESOME

  • damn he was the man who let the guitar do the talking

  • This mans music makes me feel very happy.

  • nice video :)

  • i wish back in the 70s they had a sign that said : watch out 1970s jimi is here

  • @SuperCODMVP jimi died on 1970...

  • @SuperCODMVP Jimi died in 1970 so he never saw the 70s...although his music will live on forever more.......

  • 2 people can straight up suck it

  • 0:00 - 3:42 is hypnotizing

  • One of the most beautiful love songs ever........

  • @chrishill1231

Ha! Isn't that sad, hopefully you learn to 'get a clue' before you pass from this plane.

  • 1:26...are you experienced? have you ever been experienced?...oh, I have....

  • I can play the intro! :)

  • @chrishill1231 youre right. Hendrix is not only the best guitarist ever, hes the greatest musician, the most talented human being (if he was human) to ever exist on planet earth. Unless of course there were civilizations before the dinasours that we dont even know about. Me and my friends used to watch Isle of Wight from when we were about 14. Nothing ahs ever excited me more than seeing Hendrix live with a guitar hung around his neck. Its more orgasmic than sex. kevindodd95@hotmail.com

  • @chrishill1231 Dude, if you don't know anything about the guy besides maybe something you THINK you don't like, then how do you judge? Apparently you don't like Queen - whatever, but Brian May made solo albums where he did what you're assuming he might do. Are you judging Brian May's ability based on fucking Bohemian Rhapsody? Seriously... He very much is impressive if you look int it. It's just not on the surface like it is with Hendrix which he is largely about, unlike May.

  • @chrishill1231 You Hendrix fans are really cocky...

  • If Jimi Hendrix was alive today, & died today. I'd cry all day long, no lie

  • 0 dislikes.....sounds about right

  • jimi please come back

  • i gave my wife a list of 10 songs i want played at my funeral. this is one of them. i just hope everybody's tripping who comes.

  • @sayyes2bull Holler at your girl, sounds like my kind of funeral. Promise to bring a bag of mushrooms.

  • @Tanfeliz sounds like fun, to me! haha! HOLLA'!

  • @Tanfeliz haha! cool. come on, now.

  • @sayyes2bull i'll go

  • @deletethis345 cool! shapin' up to be a pretty fun send off.

  • rip, god of guitar

  • Not only dead but murdered! Read about it in "Rock Roadie" by James "Tappy" Wright."

  • great video i was just at the experience hedrix concert and susan tedeschi covered this she did a wonderful job !

  • this song is fucking beautiful

  • my ears were just fucked

  • this song tickles my brain

  • I love this. Really, really a great video. Nice work indeed!

I love this song and album and Jimi.

  • What a nice video !! Jimi died 40 years ago (18.09.1970). In our hearts forever ♥

  • Damn - 1:14 to 1:40-ish just kills me -- what an incredible fusion of guitar and drums. Mitch was so good for Hendrix.

  • @mikegalsworthy And the bass too man, the bass too.

Quit arguing who was better and just watch the goddang video...I don't get arguments like these. Brian May vs Hendrix? That's like Apple vs Oranges at a "Who's rounder?" contest.

  • @mikegalsworthy i dont know what your talking about man the whole song is incredible musical fusion.

  • @mikegalsworthy thats the best part of the song!! jus magic!

  • Excellent video, you do this song justice=D What program did you use to make this?

  • nice vid!

  • imo one of his best songs

  • I sat on Jimi's grave many years ago and smoked a joint that Quincy Jones had left earlier in the day... Jimi knew I was there! I hope that makes some sense.

  • whats your one rainy wish ???

  • @finaldrive1987 Whose, mine? It sure isn't to meet the rain man going down Highway 61. I guess that eliminates all my rainy wishes. How about you? Got any ideas? Does anyone know what any of this is about or am I lost in a dream or what? I did see the artwork Jimi had that goes along with the song so I have to confess, I know the dream. But then, hey, so does someone else. It's plainly shown at :42 into the song, but who would know? I guess that's the idea, huh Jimi? No one knows ..

  • jimi was the best ever!!!

  • Brian May's cover version is much better. Jimmi Hendrix made good music but I just don't like the way he carried it out. Too sloppy for my taste.

  • @Typhoon792

i hate it when people say a cover was better then the original. like john mayers cover of bold as love and all the other covers around the world including "brian mays". nobody can take a hendrix song and make it better. just my opinon. and also without the original there would be nothing to cover. peace tho

  • @wutangmusic1 I'm talking about the musical performance. Obviously Brian May's version wouldn't exist if the original didn't but what's that have to do with anything? Have you even heard Brian May's version? It's so much more accurate and neat. It's also full of sound like almost all the music he was involved in (Queen). If you like the original version better for whatever reason, that's fine. I mainly pointed out why I like Brian May's cover better. I mean, I couldn't have said nothing..

  • @Typhoon792 alrite ima have to check it out then

  • @wutangmusic1 OOH OOOH! Lemme help you with that. The quality of it is really bad here on YouTube. I hope you haven't found and watched a video of it yet on here. PM so that I can hook you up :D

  • @Typhoon792

k send me the link then

  • @Typhoon792 u sound like a gay meth tweek lol. keep listening to queen while looking at your freddie mercury poster. opinions are like aholes u ahole. you should have said nuthin. you sound like a jerk.

  • @doox420 First of all, look at what you just said. I'm the asshole? I said nothing of this nature. Second, learn to speak English. Third, it's funny how you're trying to say Queen is nothing while telling me that I'm gay for humbly showing my dislike for Jimi Hendrix as a performer. Finally, the cover I was talking about was by Brian May and by Brain May alone. It has nothing to do with Freddie Mercury or even Queen. You're an idiot. Have a good day.

  • @Typhoon792

"Brians version is so much more accurate and neat". Imagine how boring rock guitar would be if it was all accurate and neat. Hendrix was at times out of tune, sloppy, plagued by technical issues and drained but his playing was from the soul.

A sloppy Jimi was at a level his modern day contemporaries could never attain in a lifetime of playing.

  • @capetown99 That is pretty much a moot point because umm, Queen isn't boring. He is Queen's guitarist and it is nothing short of genius. I see it this way... Jimi Hendrix is the opposite of Michael Jackson. He was a pretty good writer of music but a terrible performer in every way. Michael Jackson didn't really make any genius music but he could've basically taken anything and made it sound great. Ideas in your head that you can't actualize I don't count for much.

  • @Typhoon792

Jimi was a terrible performer? Not sure if Jeff Beck or Eric Clapton would go along with that after the both of them were in tears after seeing Jimi at one of his early London gigs. Or the thousands who saw him at Monterey, Berkely or Woodstock.

Brian May himself would give that comment a big thumb down.

p.s. what the fucks michael jackson got to do with my previous comment :)

  • @capetown99 Yes. Jimi Hendrix was Brian May's favorite guitarist. I also know all about Woodstock as I used to live near there. When I say bad performer, I mean in terms of the way he carried out his music. I basically already described that. I mentioned Michael Jackson to make the point that I made.

  • @Typhoon792

I think I know what your trying to say. But remember this. From 1968, Hendrix was toured to death. He never got any sleep. He wasn't looked after or allowed to develop in the studio properly. Marshall amplification, live stage shows couldnt keep up with Hendrix. His pushing the limits allowed May and others to follow. Jimis bass player left becuase Hendrix would do Voodo Child 82 times in the studio to get it right. And when Electric Ladyland was released Hendrix wasnt satisfied.

  • @capetown99 It's not like I hate him or don't appreciate what he's done. I do. I'm just saying that I didn't like him too much when it came to any sort of musical experience.

  • @Typhoon792

I think you don't have an understanding of Hendrixs music rather than a Brian May thing. Jimis manager left becuase Hendrix was trying to be a perfectionist in the studio. Becuase he was so far ahead of his time, sound systems and stage set ups were not invented yet to deal with Hendrixs live music. His frustration on stage is evidence of this. Its a contradictiion, but Jimis uninspired shows were his reaction to not being allowed to be a perfectionist.

  • @capetown99 I know all this. How does that change that all his recordings and performances were consistently sloppy? That's just my description of it. Al his material sounds similar to this vs. how it could sound, as demonstrated in Brian May's version of this. Anyway, I understand Jimi Hendrix's fame, but elevating him in comparison to many others as the best is far from being right and that's what bothers me.

  • @Typhoon792 I just gave you the answer to why it might sound sloppy, also keep in mind that this has been recorded over 40 years ago. And even if Brian Mays versions sounds cleaner, Jimi is the creative mind behind this beautiful song. Just don't try to be smart if you don't know what your actually talking about. without a doubt Jimi is one of the few musical geniuses given to us, and he can only be compared with the greatest! With Brian May definitely not belonging to this category

  • @konogomang Likewise to you in this case... Because not only did you say Brian May doesn't belong to this category, you said definitely. Even if I didn't have the qualms I mentioned about Jimi Hendrix, just looking at it very strictly, I'd say Brain May exceeds Hendrix. Lets start with something simple that everybody knows.. "We Will Rock You" - Jimi's counter?

    "Who Wants to Live Forever"

    "Hammer to Fall"

    "Save Me"

    "I Want it All"

"Too Much Love Will Kill You"

    This is strictly just hits...

  • @Typhoon792

I want it all? Your fucking kiddin me!

Thats put a smile on my face for the day!!

I bet you like Phil Collins , Kylie Minouge too?

  • @Typhoon792

Dude, Brian Mays a fine guitarist, , I grew up on Queens early albums, but you need your head seriously examined if you think he exceeds Hendrix.

Off the top of my head I can think of Alex lifeson from Rush, who I would say was a more prolific guitarist to May but never got the recognition.

Are You Experienced is consistently voted the greatest guitar album of all time by fans and everyone else but your saying its all sloppy.?

You need to get out more.

  • @capetown99 I'm not sure if you can misunderstand me any more times. Read carefully wtf I'm talking about. Alex Lifeson actually gets recognition. I'd say Brian May doesn't get as much as he deserves. Anyway, I wasn't comparing him as a guitarist, though I still think he's better than Hendrix considering the variety and consistent professionalism on all accounts - I was comparing them as musicians & in terms of creativity. E.g., Yngwie is an insane guitarist but it recently hit me May is better.

  • @Typhoon792

    ok you win.

    Enjoy Jimis music!

  • @capetown99 I win what? This wasn't a competition or a sort of proving/disproving argument. We were just discussing. Obviously that wasn't sincere but whatever. I will enjoy Jimi's music though, just through others.

  • @Typhoon792 he said you win ffs! enjoy the fucking music

  • @iloveBNs Lol, another idiot. Where do you all come from? He said that "I win" and I replied explaining the stupidity of that. You repeated the same thing. Should I repeat my response? Dumbass...

  • @Typhoon792 no but you can stop crying about it

  • @iloveBNs I can't find a trace or any sign of me "crying about it". It's ridiculous how evidently obvious it is to tell an idiot from just a few words. It can now be finalized that you are retarded. Go be stupid somewhere else, goodbye.

  • @Typhoon792 crying again i see

  • @iloveBNs Lol. Maybe you should figure out the meaning of that statement first.

  • @Typhoon792 nice comeback.

  • @Typhoon792

I've just read all of your posts on this thread. I must say that you are one of the most thoroughly inept individuals I've come across on youtube. To put it quite succinctly, you are the ZENITH of stupidity.

  • @67goldtops Why did you read all my comments then? Somehow, I have a feeling that you're actually an intelligent person that really got irritated by the things I said and therefore had the need to make that comment. Thinking so, this is probably the first time I actually feel effected by somebody on YouTube calling me stupid. Could you elaborate on that so I know at least what it's in regards to. I also don't remember all of what I said on here.

  • @Typhoon792

Irritated? Hardly. More like whimsically amused by the level of naivety you displayed in all of your assertions. You claim, "Brian may exceeds Hendrix." Possibly the most inane opinion I've come across, regardless of subject. You then proceed to list what are arguably the weakest examples of May's guitar work as proof of your claim. "Who wants to Live Forever"..." REALLY? Laughable. Then there's, "Hendrix was a terrible performer in every way." Should I continue quoting you further?

  • @67goldtops I reread all that I said. So you say I'm stupid because you have a different opinion? Wow.

You think it's insane to think Brian May exceeds Hendrix in any way?.. Many contemporary musicians would agree with my statement.

In response to the things you're mentioning, I named the hits and meant by them brilliant song writing - not guitar work. Speaking strictly guitar, I'd name things like Brighton Rock and Business.

I also explained what I didn't like about his performing qualities.

  • Comment removed

  • @67goldtops Maybe if it gets there I'll go out of my way to find the quotes from my memory but so far you're just being obnoxious. If you stride away a bit from your blind devotion to Hendrix and consider others, then maybe. As it stands now, if I do find them for you, it'd accomplish nothing and you'd continue with this same attitude. I can understand where it comes from but you just have to get that it's not the right way to go about any debate unless you just wanna blow the person off.

  • @Typhoon792

    Being "Obnoxious?"

    "Blind devotion to Hendrix..."

Ummm...Ok? Why would you presume to know anything about my devotion to Hendrix or any other musician? I could name players I've seen who YOU'VE never even heard of who I'd put in the same sentence as Hendrix. So how, in your irretrievable dumbness, do I need to "consider others?" You laughable mental midget. Ever hear Danny Gatton play? Joscho Stephan? Luther Dickinson? Marc Ford? Tinsley Ellis? Mato Nanji?? Expand your horizons.

  • @67goldtops I assume so because you think it's ridiculous to consider Brian May above Hendrix. I don't think so the other way around and if Brian May is so much worse by whatever stature, Jimi Hendrix must be a god in comparison. Therefore, I assumed you must have some sort of heightened affection for him.

ANYWAY, I'm trying to stray the conversation to a civil sophisticated back and forth. Stop being caught up with words and drop your ego. I don't need to subject myself to this bullshit.

  • @Typhoon792

Oh, I'M caught up with words? Well, have you listened to the tracks I mentioned?? Have you answered my question re which of the players I mentioned & your subsequent experience w/ each player? And NO, my assertion does NOT imply that Hendrix "must be a God" compared to May. May is a great player/writer. Yet there are LEGIONS of players standing between he and Hendrix. Did you check Danny Gatton? See, unlike YOU, I back up my claims. Once again...EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS & you may learn.

  • @67goldtops You haven't backed anything up. You mentioned songs & guitarists that you appreciate. And yes, I was able to listen to all those songs in this time frame. *rolls eyes*

I'm pretty backed up the next few days but the second I get the chance I want to listen to those songs with a clear mind. It's pointless for me to name anything to you because your pompous disdain towards me would prohibit you from listening to those songs/players unbiased if you'd even listen in the first place.

  • @Typhoon792

Oh, I see. It's Pointless. It's because of my "pompous disdain" that you refuse to cite a mere 5 specific "contemporary musicians" out of the "many" you know of who would agree with you!! It's because it would "prohibit me from listening unbiased." lol. Did I already mention how entertaining you are??

  • @67goldtops Gotcha. Repeat the same thing twenty times because of (Psychology 101 alert) your unwillingness to admit what you recognize as an accurate undesirable depiction of yourself, therefore responding with smirky comments diverting to the same irrelevant demand you have of me.

  • @Typhoon792

    Gotcha??

    Psych 101??

Oh, my bad. I thought you said you LOVE a musical discussion. It appears that I'M the only one having one. LOL.

  • @67goldtops Say what you want. I actually want to be proven wrong about Hendrix as having a mutual opinion one of my favorite musicians wouldn't be so bad... Aside from that one comment where you listed me a few of Hendrix's songs to listen to, this is absolutely pointless. Think whatever it is that keeps your self esteem a bit higher and on that note, this discussion I am further avoiding not to make more a fool of myself by responding to you.

  • @Typhoon792

Like I said earlier...Check out the music. It's been my experience that the commonality shared by people like you who dismiss Hendrix as a player is that they've not experienced much of the man's music other than what's played on FM radio. Pick up a copy of Band of Gypsys. There's a reason that everyone from Satriani to SRV consider it the Holy Grail of live guitar playing. In the meantime, be sure to clean your vagina regularly.

  • @Typhoon792

    Yawn.

  • @Typhoon792

Oh, I see. You COULD provide specific examples of "contemporary musicians" to back your claim. But you're simple refusing because you, again, pontificate that I'd "continue with this same attitude." Brilliant...

  • @67goldtops Which you clearly are...

  • @Typhoon792

Oh, this is "finished" because I am "being prick." LOL.

Sure sound like a cop-out if I'VE ever read one. Prove me wrong.

NAME 5 "CONTEMPORARY MUSICIANS" who agree with you assertion.

YOU made the claim. I'm not putting words into your silly mouth, am I?? I'm just asking you to back your claim.

    WELL???

  • @67goldtops Prove you wrong? You haven't fucking said anything. What am I supposed to "prove wrong"? And you're laying out the terms for how I need to prove to you what I'm saying? Yeah, my characterizations of you are dead wrong, lol!

What you're asking for given to anyone else wouldn't mean shit. How would that add to what you're discrediting me/calling me stupid for - the statements that I made?

  • @Typhoon792

Yes."Prove me wrong." I'm CLEARLY calling bullshit on your claim that there are MANY "Contemporary musicians" who agree with your statement that May is on a higher level than Hendrix. I've repeatedly asked you to provide proof of such a claim. Short-term memory dragging you down? Do you need to review my posts??

  • @Typhoon792

"I don't need to subject myself to this bullshit."

    Man, you're nonstop entertainment.

Partaking in a musical discussion on youtube is, in your world, "subjecting" you to bullshit." Amazing.

Let me guess, you enjoy watching "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills."

    LOL.

  • @67goldtops The fuck kind of show is that? Anyway.. I would love a musical discussion. So far you've said how amusing I am to you and otherwise shit. That's what's called bullshit. The only points I've been forced to make is about you and if even that you keep responding to sarcastically amused, what the fuck is there to speak about with you?

  • @Typhoon792

No. Actually I listed a 1/2 dozen songs which clearly demonstrate Hendrix's technical prowess on the instrument. You've yet to comment on ANY. I then listed, in response to YOUR ridiculous claim of my "blind devotion to Hendrix" a 1/2 dozen players who I endorse as heartily as Hendrix. I asked for YOU thoughts on them. I got NO response. Yet you STILL claim to your assertion that May is among the greatest. Why the avoidance??

  • @Typhoon792

So what's your response to those Hendrix cuts I sent you?

  • @67goldtops Oh man, you were waiting?.. Well, I have time now. Today or tomorrow I'll listen. Haven't as of yet (not that I wasn't planning to).

  • @Typhoon792 Do yourself a favor. Check out the following Hendrix & get back to me... Night Bird Flying Message to Love Drivin South Midnight Love or Confusion Little Wing from @ the Royal Albert Hall Them Changes Start there and tell me what you learn...
  • @67goldtops Alright. Thanks! I will. I'd love to give Hendrix another chance. I just kept going through his most famous hits used everywhere and I heard the same thing over and over that I constantly didn't like. I go more in depth in the comments of the Brian May cover video of this song (watch?v=Ip6s02KJgPk). I say that because even if I like the songs, nothing I said would change. I repeated multiple times that I don't think he's a bad song writer.

  • @Typhoon792

I agree, May is NOT a bad song writer. He's a great writer & player. However, that wasn't the conversation, was it?

  • @67goldtops At that point it was when the guy mentioned that Brian May doesn't even belong among the best. That qualifies every element.

  • @Typhoon792

"At that point it was when the guy mentioned that Brian May doesn't even belong among the best. That qualifies every element."

    HUH??

    That "qualifies every element."

That's great comedic writing, there! I can't even venture a guess as to what that means. But it sure is quote-worthy! Keep 'em coming.

  • @67goldtops Once again you're not adding anything to the conversation and simply are acting like an arrogant prick. Whatever, you're business. That's a good way of proving yourself right, being conceited. Good job. You win at that sir. Now, if you're not interested in communicating sensibly, this is finished. Good day to you.

  • @67goldtops

"Many contemporary musicians would agree with my statement."

Oh? That's quite a pontification. You do know what a pontification is, don't you?

So, please prove your assertion. Perhaps you can name say, 5 of those "contemporary musicians." Please site the specific interviews so I can read them for myself.

  • @Typhoon792 no but you can stop crying about it.

  • @Typhoon792 Just to be clear, Hendrix was a real perfectionist, and had never been satisfied with his own recordings. Due to the pressure from Mike Jeffreys and the record company he was pushed to release sooner than he would've wanted himself. Secondly Jimi was a great performer, first guy to ever burn a guitar on stage ;-) and not to even mention playing the guitar in all sorts of positions, even with his teeth! and finally when Jimi started to play the guitar it always sounded good!

  • @konogomang I meant performance in terms of how he got it to sound. I don't care if he played with his ass but that's if it sounded good. Yeah, see, Brian May was and is a perfectionist. That's why he gets the sound that he does. So much of Hendrix's characteristics are the exact opposite of a perfectionist.

  • @Keagonstr1 Ummm... Yes?...

  • I don't even remember the last time I cried, but this song makes me so emotional. I feel so lame, but so enlightened at the same time. Pathetic, but empowered at the same time.

  • I don't even remember the last time I cried, but this song makes me so emotional. I feel so lame, but so enlightened at the same time. Pathetic, but empowered at the same time.

  • what a beautiful love song, "and eleven moons played across the rainbows above me and you" his way of words will never be matched, he stole my heart away! so much of his music interprets the beauty of the cosmos, which he loved. and as do I. what a man!

  • man this is crazy. the Exp never surprises me

  • gonna learn the intro

  • Sounds like he invented 70's Pop as well with this.

  • People listen to this shit when theyre high on lsd or dank but i listen to this shit like fuckin little girls listen to miley cyrus. I luv these mellow vibes.

  • @jimifan95 if you play guitar, never give up.

just never give up. musicians everywhere owe it to themselves and to the universe to make sure jimi's songs live on

  • Awesome video - love it!

  • the first time i heard this song i was on a horrendous acid trip out in the rain with my now husband and it was amzing. It was bad at first because our car broke down and it was raining. The music and the acid created a perfect oppertunity to say fuck it and have stupendous sex in the rain.

  • @FoxyRoxies sex and trippin on acid at the same time??? didn't mix for me but if it worked for u all,,,more power to ya. love rules the world!!!!

  • im not saying i didn't get queazy a few times but it was worth it
