CBS needs to do commercials like this again and maybe people will start watching. I use to LOVE CBS now I can't stand it. I grew up watching most of those shows and they were awesome compared to todays crap.
God, it's hard to believe this is from twenty years ago. I was five when this came out. I told some friends of mine about the Brazilian remake of this and they were surprised and shocked out of all due respect.
Have a great day, a great night, a great week, a great month, a great spring and a Happy Sanit Patrick's Day! Puerto Rican Love from New York City!
I see dead people. I mean, first we see William Conrad (Fatman from Jake and the fat man) then when they do the promo for the news, they show both Ed Bradley and Charles Kuralt. Then they showed Robert Pasterlli (Eldon from Murphy Brown) it seems like we are watching one of those memorial tributes with the Temptations in the background. I remember watching this before but seeing it here on You Tube makes me think that memorial tribute.
I'll bet in 1990, CBS was the #1 network in the San Francisco Bay Area because of the A's and the 49ers. CBS had it all with MLB and the Sunday afternoon NFC package. Nowadays, FOX probably feels like they have it all.
yea thats why their able to pay charlie sheen all that money for every episode of two and a half men....nbc was the top during this time of this commercial
1990 was the first year of CBS' exclusive, over-the-air contract (after many years on ABC and NBC). Tim McCarver was the lead color commentator (working with Jack Buck and later, Sean McDonough) for all four years.
I think I can barely remember this promo, especially the sequence with the doors (:44-:57). I was a little over 6; I think it came during Summer 1990.
I wonder if CBS tried a bit too hard to copy NBC's style of "party atmosphere" promos? (Instead of the usual montage of clips)
Also, this promo is hysterically dated. From the loud neon colors, the random trapezoids to the overly jazzed up remix of the Temptations song, this promo just SCREAMS 1990.
But I'm glad to have this back and in great quality!
this is news channel promo ?

In 1993 it was copied in Brasil by SBT. SBT copies alot of American things as well as European things too.

CBS weren't quite the heavyweight network in 1990 that they were in the 70's & up until the mid 80's.

That because CBS stunk in 1990, and NBC was "The Place to Be."

Nothing makes a promo ridiculously dated like a bunch of random trapezoids.

Seeing Tommy Lasorda dance was hilarious. Kinda weird seeing Timmy McCarver with CBS.

Candice Bergen always looks like she's just having the time of her life in these promos.
