What a shit audience, they are probably hearing this tune for the first time in their life since that they are applaud three times while song is not finished. Go watch bloody Biber or Rihana, at least you know when it's end!
Umm... something happened to your ears, jaskkk. They seem to be broken. You might want to see if they are still under warranty or something. Of course, if you thought you were going to a blues concert, I could see where you would be disappointed. This is jazz fusion with latin flair, by the way, not blues or hard rock. Trying to call Al soulless is like complaining that the Maui surf is too dry.
Al and PAT both play the Roland GR303. Lovely guitar. Has a 24 pine old synth hookup. Pat plays the Roland all the time. Al not so much anymore. But the Ovation has an external synth, also a Roland attached to it. The one you see now is an Ovation an American made guitar. Listen to Al,s Soaring through a dream CD, he really shines there on the GR303.
What Al is using here is not a guitar synth - the GK mic attached to his Ovation triggers a Roland VG88 Virtual Guitar System, which is based on Roland's COSM guitar and amp modelling. No MIDI involved.
I dig the way he fades in the sound of a Les Paul via the VG88.

I've visited his live concert today. Very beautiful music, technical player, but no "drive", almost "soulless". Just compare to Joe Satriani!

The Ovation is Als instrument..no one can play it like Al, simply the best. Love listening to him.

Who makes this guitar synth? It's sounds more expressive than the one Pat Metheney used to use.
