  • is the cameraman high?

  • Awesome how he continues to play air guitar notes with his hands while he talks..... Sometimes you see him play threads with his finger like at 4:57.

  • Com

  • I miss him.

  • I'm not a big Dead fan, but Jerry was a nice guy.

  • gotta love how the interviewer asks using the word you and jerry answers with we and us

  • right on jerry

  • I think Weir is holding the camera...!! :-o

  • Hard to believe this was only a year before he left us. He looks and sounds great.

Extraordinary human being. Always giving of himself. Sadly missed.....

  • "Well, I can't do anything about that" Classic Jerry!

  • this is fantastic! i play music and i defiantly know what hes talking about!

  • In my decades working in production I will say he was kind, jovial, but most of all a true musician who never stopped working on his craft. The world has really never been the same without him in it and I was truly blessed to enjoy his music, personality and incredible spirit.

  • please tell what kind of nike shoes he had during this period..

  • i respect jerry garcia very much

  • some things you can replace, others, you cannot

  • Anyone know what year this is?

  • Wolfgasm0414 - You're a herb bro. The 'it's the coke" haha.

  • He's such a "Grateful" Human being. R.i.p Jerry <3

  • Hellarious! Thousands of people with their hearts open to real love. And the mutant journalist asks "isn't this too much".

  • you say hes so awake... thts the coke....

  • @Wolfgasm0414 hahaha yea i guess i never thought about it like that

  • man hes so awake.....he looks healthy

  • @sstslide270out thats the coke....

  • yea its a shame, Jerry looks so good here.

  • such a humble human being

  • what an interesting, intricate person. humble to the core, even kinda nervous on camera and this is after playing 2,000 shows. its bitter sweet to see these interviews, the comment that the sorrow is still fresh is right on. almost 15 years as i right this......we all miss the hell outa him....i love him like a family memeber, thats the only way i can describe it....RIP Jerome John Garcia

  • Nice short, Jerry.

  • damnit.. shorts**

  • @ClaytonTheBrave jerry in shorts- and black sox and sneakers!!! LOLOLOL

  • dont send a square to a circle convention..

  • THE MAN!!! Who is this chump talking to Jerry as if He was being interviewed and not Jer. HAHA lol. Jerry is the best guitar player of all time. His worst solo has more soul than most's best!

  • @jjjetton22 , The interviewer is a real asshole! I'm surprised jerry had the patience to talk to him.

  • "Metaphysical implications ..." I love it!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Jerry was by far the most intelligent man this schmuck Bob Goen has ever interviewed. And he was just a genuinely down-to-earth guy for a rock star. Jerry was one in a million. RIP.

  • I'm going to a Furthur show tonight, and am super excited, but man-o-man do I wish I was going to see this man.....damn, I miss him...

  • i think people who listen to the dead A LOT understand what jerry is talking about here- the flashes of grateness bit.. if you don't or are just a part-time fan you think he sounds like a total space cadet.

  • jerry was the antithesis of a rock star. he never wanted it, but it wanted him. Nobody in rock 'n roll can say that they were more kind than Jery. I miss that man. Merry Christmas to all!

  • Thanks for posting this!

    Boogie on...

  • Why is that douche telling Jerr where to sit? Then again when he sits on the bench and not the table. God i would have shot that guy if i were near by. You dont take an oppurtunity like talking to that man for 5 minutes and poke and prod around dumbass questions and tell him where to sit for cameras.

  • i'm sure no one minded except you

  • im high and hate that man

  • I know...what a dick. Jerry was so cool though, a real people person.

  • @cletusthefetus4 i dont think it bothered jerry...except for the fact he didnt get his cigarette.

  • @cletusthefetus4 i know jerry did not even care where the fuck he was sitting, he was a gentelman ..

  • Papa Jer: what a sweet man...

  • Jerry was a ball of fur held together with kindness and chemicals. Music history will hail him as a 20th century master who elevated Americana, pop and rock. He what many greats didn't by outliving the initial mass-market hype and evolving as a musician, not just settling into being an entertainer. From New New Minglewood to ... Slipknot!

  • so cool, so articulate, it's no wonder he was loved by so many

  • modesty becomes him

  • i understood when he on high. haha! i can feeling of him. ;)

  • Happy 67th, Jer!

  • u not have dolby noiz redukshun?

  • @batmanoberst yah hes soo jolly, he really was santa claus!!!

  • @batmanoberst he threw phil lesh down the stairs

  • R.I.P. JERRY!!!!

  • Why in the world is this tagged "ice cream pizza heroin"? He didn't speak about any of those thing. Besides, did you ever see Jerry eating ice cream?

  • i wondered also but still cracked me up.

  • sounds like a very bright guy despite all the bruises

  • gotta love.

  • audio quality????

  • wow...he was such a cool, nice guy!

  • my father told me when he was a deadhead, his deadhead friend's and him thought jerry would never die because he was too much of a fuzzy bear.but when he did they all took it pretty hard

  • Once your a deadhead your always a deadhead. There is no "was a deadhead.

Long live and love Jerry :)

  • werd!!

  • These were some hot shows, literally & figuratively. I remember the venue spraying a mist from a hose to cool everyone down. Every time Jerry would belt out "So Many Roads" during the song, a streak of lightning would appear in the horizon behind the stage.

Oh how I miss those days

  • Jeeze! That's far out! Thanks for sharing that with us. Sounds like Jerry not only moved the human race, but the surrounding environment as well!

  • He really was way cool!

  • Oops, I meant to click the thumbs up!!! Doh!!! Jerry was the coolest ever.

  • haha have you ever seen this guy not smiling?

  • this makes me miss him the most man

  • Is that Shepard Smith from FOX News???

  • @jefarr Bob Goen

  • This was May 1993

  • I miss the hell outta Jerry!! He was the man.

  • anyone know what year this is

  • funniest thing... jerry saying when the guy introduces himself says... there's nothing i can do about that....

  • i cant believe its been 13 years since he passed there will never be anyONE like him.

  • Jerry Garcia Is A Legend...

  • jerry was a truly great human being. the world, thru my eyes, is not the same since he has been gone.

  • Yes, 13 years later, the sorrow is still fresh.

  • I agree with some here, the interviewer is a twit. I hate these mainstream media that try to jump on the bandwagons of the people. They dont really know.

I miss Jerry so much. Thank GOD for the archive.

  • god i miss him.

  • This interviewer is a twit He suspects Jerry to kno how many outdoor shows hes ever done.

  • One more observation. Only half of the people who watch part one watch part two. I guess we know what that means. Miss you Jerry!

  • Be nice... They mention in Part2, Jerry has six years to make it through the millenium. So I am guessing this was done in 1994! Great interview. Great post.

  • Interviewer is a twit, telling Jerry where to sit. Fuck off, Jerry sits where he wants. What year is this? 1991?

  • I still miss him - wish he would have taken himself as serious as playing guitar. I can't think of any other famous guy I miss more - Bill Hicks is high on the list.

  • Hendrix?

  • 2: 27 lol the cameraman cant get enough of the dyes, ... hes probly baked...

  • Good ol' happy-go-lucky, jolly Jerry. No problem for him, no doubt he dealt with thousands of clueless twits like this guy over the years.

  • truth

  • whos that jackass interviewer

  • Tthe interviewer is some plastic tool-talking head from some moronic news entertainment show...Bob Gruen or whatever. He knows nothing except what his producer told him to say. Jerry had a nice buzz going allowing him to tolerate the dweeb's level of twitness.

  • Lol, the tags ... "Ice cream Pizza Heroin"

  • if theres one word to describe Jerry in this interview its generous

  • You can tell this dork doesn't know anything about Jerry except that he's the most famous member of The Grateful Dead...

  • He was so intelligent, that despite the interviewers tough questions,he handles them with grace. This interviewer who trys to paint Garcia as having an unchallenging career obviously had no clue about Garcia the man and the artist. He had this great sense of committment to many many people. The part I felt that was really rude of the interviewer is when he puts Garcia on the spot about what he does the day of the show. Busy preparing to put on a show, and nice enough to give him an interview.

  • DAMN I miss him

  • first comment- fatman rocks!
