Good pick for the bengals. He'll be a heck of a player once he gets his head on straight. To CrimsonTidefan89, LT Chris Samuels was far better then Andre Smith. #3 pick in the 2000 draft. Multiple pro owler
Yes Andre Smith has made some mistakes, didnt look terrific with his shirt off, but at the end of the day when he straps on his helmet and pads the Bengals got themselves one heck of a football player.
Very average pro day for this guy-he is already out of shape and he is like 22. Doesnt justify a top 5 pick anymore, what a idiot-he could have gone no 1 overall and he sat around like a bum and dodged the combine. If I was a scout I would have him the 3rd rated tackle.
not out of shape. he is the lightest he has been in 3 years. he didnt sit around like a bum- he said he made a good football decision to go and work out with his trainer
Well the only person who thinks it was a good decision was him, the NFL execs thought it displayed terrible maturity and character=the combine isnt just about workouts its about presenting yourself as a professional ready to work for alot of money. Andre Smith looks almost bemused and niave when he appears in interviews, he needs to get his attitude on point or he will slide out of the top 7 picks....
Nah, they had work ethics and were quite lean coming out of college. He is already seriously out of shape and has attitude issues, i think he could be like leonard davis in cowboys-a huge guy but someone who ultimately never lived up to his potential in the NFL.
Davis played for the Longhorns and physically dominated college opponents much like Smith, often purely because he was that much bigger than anyone else (Davis was 6'8 and had the biggest helmet ever made by Longhorns equipment). I just think Smith is going to be in for a shock if he thinks the NFL is anything like college, he needs to raise his game, being big in the pros doesnt cut it, you will get taken apart by speed rushers.
Should be the 1st overall pick, but we know how dumb the Lions are...probably picking a QB, then realizing that he'll have NO protection, thus ruining the young man's career...
It would be stupid to trade for Matt Cassel. Not only would they have to give up draft picks but it would cost them $14 million a year for a guy who has played ok for only half of a season. Lions have so many needs they cant afford to be giving up draft picks.
The 14.6 million would be renegotiated like all franchised-then-traded players because they are no longer part of their franchise! Anyways, Cassel isn't worth anywhere near that much...I can tell you the Lions don't want to draft this year's Ryan Leaf, Matt Linehart or Vince Young.

Raider coach Tom Cable is in LOVE with this kid. He looks to be a future Oakland Raider.

Quite persuading...just in the context that I'm not aware of Davis' college career, who looks more dominate from films?

The Lions will take him #1 overall to protect Matt Cassel that they gave their other (Dallas') first rounder for.
...If they know what's good for them.
