  • i enjoyed this vid

  • Make sure both your pictures are the same size to begin with . open them separately and look at the picture size “image” then “Image size” wile both pictures are open you can pre adjust the size of the pictures to allow that the item your inserting is close to the size you want ..

  • when i try put two images together one goes really small and i dont know how to make it bigger! any ideas?

  • I really like how this guy takes the time to show each thing to click on, and uses the move tool so I can understand it. A very good video.

  • all i wont to do is add one picture right beside another and i dont know how to do it

  • @LeonKennedyFROMRE4 That can be done by using the canvas size tool

Click "Image" select "canvas tool" ad the size with you want hit "enter" your selected image size will be visible . then add you new image .. you will need to learn about the canvas tool . good luck!

  • thank u clear voice, loud and slow enough to follow along with.

  • HOW do I take something out of my image and replicate it in another layer without ruining my previous image??

  • how to add a different picture into a new layer?

  • There's that box that says "Layers Channels Paths". What do I do if "Layers" is gone? It WAS there but I think I clicked something....

  • @TheMadWHACK

top panel of photo shop select "windows '

     then select "layers"

  • @hgils omg that was so simple! lol Thank yoü!!! :)

  • good vid... learned a few new things... one question though... im using photoshop 7... and when i add a layer, i am not able to twist and turn it, like u do by pressing ctl + T ... i would appreciate it if u could help me out.... thanks !!! once again... Great vid...

  • Open picture with more than one layer

Select a layer clicking layer palate Expand the screen (click on the square upper right of photo shop image ) therer is a minus, squar,.plus

You click on the square . Your screen will show only the one image you are working on

Select Ctrl and T -Push Ctrl and T at same time You will see a thin out line around this layer use curser to rotate it putting curser on corner ..

Notice little arrows .. Now rotate it left or rite

  • Finally a vid that explains something rather then playing a song.

  • if you leave out the part that shows How you separate a picture into layers can't believe this is such a difficult thing to tell the beginners it's like teaching black belt techinque to a white belt, they will be lost!!!!

  • @willyboydd you have to do that manually stop critisizing him it was a good video.

  • thanks for the great tutorial

  • great tutorial .....any more?

  • That helped me. thx

  • thank u sir!

  • Thanks so much.

  • Man what a GREAT instructional video!!!

You cut though 200 pages of hard to read manual in a few short minutes!!!!! Man for us PS beginners we are all looking for stuff like this- this is utterly a godsend!!!

  • i accidentaly deleted my layers box. how to get it back??? anyone help!!!??

  • Just go to the Window tab between View and Help, then click layers.

  • window > layers

  • thanks for the vid, it'll help for when i get my tablet and do graphics and stuff like this

    5/5 really helpful

  • Anyone who doesn't understand what hes explained here needs seriously to consider whether they have learning disabilities. If you can't see the VALUE in WHY he's telling you WHAT photoshop can do, then you probably can't think in this abstract construct of virtualization. Furthermore, ridiculing the author who's giving you something for free, when you can click "back" if you're disinterested, further demonstrates my point. THANK YOU AUTHOR FOR YOUR GENEROSITY.

  • so where does it say this is the 6th video, and how do I get to the first 5?........

  • After you read and see how altering a graphic can be accomplished. Then you will see how layers are used in altering them . This tutorial is very basic . But you also might need to just sit and use the tools in photo shop . Just see what each does good luck

  • Google this

what are layers in photoshop Then read at lest the top 5 . Perhaps then you will understand what layers do

  • thanks, eventhough i know how to use layers this clip will help me and my friends i not good at explianing, so this clip is handy thanks

  • I'm absolutely none the wiser...I still don't know what layers are and why I need to use them.....typically...you get these technical wizards going..'.click on this, drag that and there you go, layers'.....but what are they and why?.....YOU FORGOT TO SAY......

  • @perth45 that's not what this tutorial is for find a different one.

  • @coolsarahkry1 ......then it shouldn't be called 'Photo shop layers BEGINNER'........should it?........

  • @perth45 well, it tells you how to do it. Just not why. The point of this tutorial isn't to tell you why, it's to show you how. But I'm guessing by now you've figured it out, am I right?

  • he said " and do that very quick"... you better do it slow for beginners. Your voice is very unclear too

  • Thank you for this very simple and easy to understand tutorial.

  • ok just how to PUT many LAYER?????

  • this is a shit

  • how do you get rid of a background of a pic , like a pic of a plant with the sky in the background how do you get rid of the sky so the background is transparent and you just have the plant as the pic? ty

    btw great vid :)

  • those boxes at the side of program how to get them back if it got deleted or closed by mistake? some1 reply plz!

  • on top of the photoshop screen select window then select layers

  • Thanks alot but i got it!

  • Very nice video! Your tutorial was clear, concise and easy to follow. Well Done!

  • 0:45 "...if you can call this a demonstration" hahaha!

  • save and restart photo shop .. but need more info on what it did or what it looks like

  • Hey, I know this is probably a stupid question, but when you click a new layer it's always blank or like that checkered pattern.. How do I make it a background picture or something besides a blank screen or checkered pattern? Like if I have a picture of myself and I want to put me in.. a lightening storm or something I would get one one picture of me and then my layer would be a picture of a lightening storm. I can find out how to make my layer"and actualy picture?i am a beginner as you can tell

  • Photo Shop Layers add 2nd photo to layer watch that video ,Open your layers palette select (windows) then select (layers) make some new layers or load a back ground and a subject , move them up and down in palette you will see it !

  • @numba1scrapper just copy and paste the photo to the layer.

  • I acccidently pressed something and maid my layers looks weird. how do I make them back to normall??

  • very simple...but brilliant and helpful!! thanx mate

  • cheers mate :)

  • have watched your video a dozen times , but don't seem to be able to hold the layers in order to work on them , i get so far, bring in a background picture, then my layers are just not there to work on could please help me on this , PS I love how you make it look so simple, just wish i could get the hang of it maybe its my age

  • thx for the comment, i cant remember commenting one of yours, thx for the advice, all the videos of yours are very educaational and a good inspiration.

  • You know when I´m going to make that list of layers with different pictures, I can put ONE picture in but when I´m going to "drag in" the new picture just replace the other one so that I can only have one picture at the time, how should I do to add more then one picture?? PLEASE ANSWER xD

  • hahaha, "kind a birdlike, don´t you think" awesome xDD, but serious, thanks for the help^^

  • nice video! Realy Helpfhul

  • thanx buddy

  • Thos video leaves out one thing.....How did you get to the point you are at when the tutorial starts?? How do i Add a new picture layer? All I'm getting is a stupid checkered box!!! ARRRGGGHHH1!!! This is really ticking me off because it's like some secret government information that nobody can show you how to do it?? I really wish these tutorials would teach you as if you had no idea what anything was in photoshop and not assume you know how to do something

  • @dcsmooth The checkered box means there is nothing there. You can just copy and paste a photo if you want to or you can use the paint bucket to fill it with white. I remember when I had that problem a while ago..

  • I opened the photo and copied it and went pasted it into the layer. That's the only way I know how to add a photo to a layer. I can't find a demonstration that says how to do it a different way. (I threw my mouse against the wall before I figured the Ctrl+c to Ctrl+v - I need some sleep I guess.)

  • Fianlly someone explaining proporly what a layer is. Now I get it.

  • Question,

How do i add another layer to i picture that i cropped with my lasso tool and i want another picture behind it?

  • COOOL :))

  • sorry but didnt help at all. i add a layer and the background colour stays white the whole time no matter what i do. didnt help at all

  • You are a born teacher! Simple, clear, repetitions, improvised, spontaneous, even a hint of humour. More than a lesson on layers; this is a lesson on didactic method!

  • cool, but wut is the dif in opacity and fill? it seems they do the same thing to me

  • every tutorial i've looked at so far already has a pic in the layer section. How do you add the pic that u layer in the layer section? Meaning, I have a pic which I am editing, I want to add another picture in the background because I used the tool that cut images out. I've cut the image out now I want to put another pic behind that one???

  • i been tryng to figure that out too!! if you figure it out or know tell me please!! thxs.

  • Omg! I learned allot from this!

I've been trying to work with layers all day!

    Thanks:]

  • THE BEST tutorial on youtube that helped me learn layers. Simple, but not dumbed down. Thank you sooo much. I've wanted to make my own t-shirt graphic (the shirts with all the fancy symbols and shapes and pictures) and I knew it was done with layers or something. Now I know how to do it! Thnx!

  • Thank you, but how do you load multiple images together? trying to do manipulations, sort of like cutting and pasting. It's probably simple steps that I'm making difficult. I would be so grateful if you could please help with these steps! Many thanks!

  • Question,

How do you edit single layers without messing with the whole picture? For example if I'm doing a collage adn I want to change the contrast on one layer I keep doing it for the whole picture and it messes everything up? Please help thanks.

  • Duplicate the entire picture ! Now U have two pictures . correct the layer in question turn off all other layers then "select" "merge visible" . Make sure U have highlight 1 of the layers you are working on You then have a corrected layer. now slide into original picture with repaired layer . remember to place it in the layer stack where it needs to be so it don't change the layers below it. Sometimes you need to edit this new repaired layer by using the erase tool.

  • I just started with photoshop CS3 extended. But my paintbrush icon next to all layers are gone. Is there any settings for that?

  • I just want to ask what's the name of that thing.. the icon between the Eye icon and the Fill layer thumbnail. I don't have it on my photoshop, and I can't find it. Please reply. Thanks a lot

  • Thanks for this video, you've made it nice and easy to understand layering. Many thanks.

  • You Pwn. I've watched a lot of youtube videos about layering and yours was definitely the most helpful. It seemed planed out and really explained how layers WORK. You're good at explaining things too.

Thanks a lot. I'm new at this. =)
