The obvious answer (obvious to any atheist anyway) is: So where did your God come from? God does not answer the question of where we came from, it just moves it back one more step. If you believe that your complex all powerful deity has always been there then it is far less incredible and far more believable to accept the idea that the stuff from which we came was "always there" (bypassing all the complex issues of time and matter brought about by current quantum physics).
Well I would answer that the FSM did not come from anything, was always present, he is beyond time and existed before the big bang. But there has got to be a stopping point or there is an infinite regression, the FSM is that stopping point hence a regress is no longer needed. Regresses give everyone a headache.
You can just as easily remove God all together and just say that whatever was around before the big bang always existed but will eventually be explained scientifically but is not a god with a purpose or a will or an intelligence. I think most people have an inherent feeling throughout their life that they are atheists (or at least deny the existence of god) before declaring it.

the stupid in this video is hurting now. What a condescending prick. Religion is not a natural condition. We are all born atheist, only through societal teachings are we made to believe in the concept of god. And I did not become atheist through some traumatic event, I simply looked at the evidence, found there wasn't any, and decided to not believe in fairy tales.

Does he hate Zeus? Theism the natural condition? Then how come all-powerful God doesn't make sure everyone is clear about the true religion? The obvious answer (obvious to any atheist anyway) is: So where did your God come from? God does not answer the question of where we came from, it just moves it back one more step. If you believe that your complex all powerful deity has always been there then it is far less incredible and far more believable to accept the idea that the stuff from which we came was "always there" (bypassing all the complex issues of time and matter brought about by current quantum physics).

I should have stated the fact that nonviolence is evidence, from my perspective, of the supernatural. I disagree with Father Williams' assertion that athiests are "created" from an intense hate for God, or out of feeling betrayed by God, etc. I am an athiest b/c I have never thought of theism as an intelligent concept. Belief in an all-powerful deity(ies) has never made sense to me. Hate has never played into it for me. Same goes for all my athiest friends. If anything is a "turn-off" about theism, it's believers who push it on you, and use it drive every facet of their own lives.

It is scary that people might read these books and think, "Oh really? Ah, I didn't think of it that way."
We must at all cost prevent our neighbors and children from coming in contact with new ideas and being led astray!

Humans are given to believe in all manner of superstition and witchcraft and yes, gods and goddesses. Just because we are inclined to believe these things does not make them true. It's embarrassing that I even have to point this out to you. And so you know, I'm going to do everything in my power to "lead astray" many people I come into contact with. It's something which has to be done because your religion is a terrible thing in addition to being false.

by this guys logic we should accept faeries until they're disproven by the afaeriests - so rediculous - evolution explains the diversity of all life we know of, cosmology has determined the universe needed noone to step in all the way back to a fraction of a second after the big bang- if there really is a creator god, he/she's awfully lazy and not really needed at all - just the idea of worshiping anything is quite perverted if you think about it

That's insanity! I doubt God not because he does not benefit me, but because I doubt him for the very same reason I doubted Santa or the Easter Bunny. He was a fine imaginary friend in my childhood years, but now, it's time to grow up.

1.) There is no one way atheist become atheist.
-atheism is the dis-belief in god(s) so there is no "reject" of anything. Sounds like the father needs to learn a little more about the subject, or just quit using the old parlor tricks of misrepresenting true definitions of things. After I heard him utter a few words I already knew he was going down the wrong road on his rebuttal to "new atheism". thats a funny label too. :)
