  • put some fluid in the resovoir and the sound will go away

  • mine sounds JUST like that, whats the problem? power steering pump?

  • @blazzing4321 its the ford power steering pump. every single mid 80s ford ive seen running a stock ford pump makes the whine. even after a vacuum applied burp cycle. there is a 'HD' pump that you can get that's just a chevy saginaw pump with a ford bolt pattern, p# AAZ-20-7878/A-1 CARDONE 100-207878

  • isnt it the bearing whine, or that the belts too tight

  • @weaponexpert1 flush the PS lines and remove all air; failing that, get a new pump.

  • what is the problem if you hear this whine?

  • u have air in the line

  • @janicesaysgiggity : put a manual steering rack and threw the pump in the scrap pile.

  • so what exactly do you do to get rid of the noise?!

  • This is EXACTLY what my 2003 MDX is doing. 2 of 3 mechanics said 'not a problem'... the dealer wants to replace the pump... I'm not sure who to listen to and scared to find out how much the pump costs.

  • @TheDanielle1220 I would probably go with that the pump needs to be replaced. I have had a mechanic tell me that it is the problem, but not to change it out yet because it wont be a problem, but i think otherwise =)

  • sweet intake haha

  • i dont know if you have fixed it yet, but my power steering pump made that EXACT same noise. and then it went out. just get it replaced and the sound will stop.

  • doesn't matter any more anyway, my manual rack arrived today. going in this weekend :)

  • just tell everyone thats the sound of your supercharger.
