Seems that it's a visual way to see if the bone is stretched or compressed, very handy to animate...
Only thing I see not working well enough is the right/left roll, the foot don't take into acount the floor contact as it takes when you roll front/back.
That could be true, I never messed with XSI before. I'm doing some stuff in Animation Master and pretty soon I'll be adding bones to my characters and seeing how the skinning is like what that program vs. Maya.
Interesting. I'm curious why are the bones changing color?
