I love watching Climb Dance. The sounds that car makes are just as breath taking as any performance v8 engine I have ever heard. They have all sorts of different cars running up the mountain including RWD V8 yank tanks, but there's no question the fastest are the Turbocharged AWD monsters from the likes of Audi, Toyota, Suzuki and of course Peugeot.

To the top, they race some pretty HiPo dirt racers -Dirt Late Models (800+hp)- Dirt Modifieds (450+hp) - and they also run a modified version of the Dirt Sprint Cars (950-1000+hp) - they even race RWD heavily modified Semi Trucks up the mountain, kinda like what they have in Australia...except on dirt, for the most part...They paved half the track because erosion of the dirt surface was costing a TON to maintain :(

For the Pikes Peak Hill Climb (especially when it was all-dirt) the lightweight, turbocharged all-wheel-drives were king. That certainly doesn't mean they're 'king' at everything!
