  • I am looking for my first AR,I prefer spending a few bucks more for the real deal and THIS seems like it would be the best choice for my needs........TY

  • Can anybody on the internet make a video without annoying acid rock guitar riffs? I mean, is it possible?

  • Ssay a 5.56 flys at 1300+ fps which is almost double the speed of sound! So does that mean the bullet would cause a small sonic boom? And if you were downrange, a bullet would pass you, then you would hear a sonic boom, THEN hear the blast from the rifle?

  • @iLoveMyGun89 Yeah, the crack you hear when a supersonic bullet passes by is the sonic boom. Basically the same sound you hear when someone cracks a whip and the tip of the whip breaks the sound barrier. If you were down range, you would hear the crack of the bullet then the sound of the muzzle blast.

  • I'm sure this has been brought up before, but:

Do a lot of research and then build one?

  • For those out there who are uncertain about the AR, at least around here in VA, the Colt is extra good for one reason: rediculous resalability. I've seen these regularly draw several hundred dollars more at auctions than they are worth new. Of course, auction is always a risk, but you arn't going to find a better return in the event that the AR simply isn't right for you. People go crazy for the pony.

  • Thats the rifle I bought when I got home from Iraq "2009"

  • for that money i would just save a few hundred dollars more and get a daniel defense

  • HK

  • daniel defense all the way..but not 1g..more like 1300 and up

  • I purchased a Stag Arms carbine about 8 months ago, The dealer said it was sort of a prototype rifle, didn't come with Stag box, The dealer wrote on the ticket; 2 Tactical Pro, it has 16' brl. 1-9 twist, marked 5.56 nato, came with Midwest Industries tactical quad rail, rather long one, Magpull milspec collapsible buttstock( doesn't have the adj. cheek piece, but has dual sided battery storage and extra compartment), also has Magpul pistol grip and 1913 rail reciever, Any help confirming this?

  • @usamachinist continued from comment below; This rifle has the buttstock, pistol grip and some rail covers in flat dark earth color on blk reciever, Also came with Magpull flip up polymer sights, Wasn't fired before I got it! I love the rifle but have been kind of perplexed about how it came about, haven't seen alot on the internet for this model designation.

  • excellent video. Thanks

  • i like my stag model 8, ill stick with that. nice video :D

  • @gearsofmuffin Stag makes a very good rifle. I will be doing a video on a Stag AR in the near future.

  • illegal in California :(

  • @brianthao102

California confuses me, Pot is basically legal their but their Gun Laws are like giving the middle finger to the second amendment.

  • @RPXXPR some Airsoft guns aren't Legal here too >:(

  • @RPXXPR do you wanna know why pot is legal..because it can help the body and has never killed 1 person or animal..im not defending pot but i can just see how its legal if you have a medical license..you must remember what has happen in LA in the 80's 90's and till now..still though it sucks to live in california if you are pro gun.

  • @JUKEBOXX1990

I am all for the legalization of Marijuana. I'm currently in Med. School and I would have to say that 90% of my teachers (all M.D.'s) agree. The others would say there's a better drug alternative than smoking marijuana. I would respond to that saying that it should be the patient/person's right to use whatever they deam best, even without a prescription. I just find it ironic that the state which is expanding rights in one arena are cutting off others in another.

  • Comment removed

  • @RPXXPR yes i dont understand why either..are you from cali..i am..so this is what i deal with.

    =(

  • @brianthao102 No it isn't. I have one and I'm in Cali.

  • @KalashnikovKid762 thats good then I could purchase one :)

  • best buy on the amreican market. id put my norinco cq-a1 5.56 up against any servicable ar variant and i paid $830 canadian taxes in for my m4 clone

  • @bonono12646 forgot to mention in canada we can have norincos still

  • doesn't fn make more m4s than colt?

  • bought my dpms for 620 and guarantee it will do everything that this weapon will, if not more. have a nice day

  • If only Colt switched to a Piston system over DI then my next AR might be a Colt :)

  • @SMarti018 Colt should be offering a piston system in the near future. However, I'm not a fan of the piston AR's, I've seen way too many problems with them. I'll stick with DI.

  • @SMarti018

Personally, I like my AR to be as Light as possible, and Gas Piston adds weight compared to Gas-Impingement. However I have no idea how my SCAR 17S is as light as it is considering it shoots 7.62x51 or .308win. Plus it is a Gas Piston Rifle. Regarding this video, IMO the 6920 is the best for the money and the closest thing to an actual M4 out there. I also really like Bushmaster's A3M4 Patrolman Carbine, that would be my number 2, Bushmaster's have great barrels.

  • Just build you'r own to fit you'r specific needs for less. Its alot more satisfying

  • @scuds03

I agree, but as popular as "the black rifle" has become, alot of people have them and know very little. I have a friend who recently bought 2, I swear if I just told him to field strip the damn thing he couldn't do it to save his life.

  • @RPXXPR i hear you

  • Good video, thanks!

  • awesome review man, keep it the good work

  • i will never buy a pre assembled ar 15 after you build it with the parts you want i.e. freefloat tubes triggers stocks slings optics buis and a brake/compensator and they still come in under 800 dollars for a complete rifle.

  • BCM has a better product for about the same price or less.

  • daniel defence makes a hell of a ar for just over a grand

  • @000terminator Daniels Defense does make a superb AR, no question about that.

  • I like Rock Rivers Myself, like to support my local company's. Great rifles and under $1000 you wont be disappointed. No staked gas key and castle nut though lol. Look out all you combat ready couch potato's, you got some mods to do : )

  • My local Fleet Farm has several of these. They also have a G3 and an AK variant that I didn't get a good look at. *sigh*

  • which ar-15s don't have the staking on the gas keys??

  • @MrMosinNagant1937 Most of them don't have the gas keys staked. Only models that are Mil spec will because its not needed in civilian shooting. Ask that question in google someone will give you a break down by company I have seen the list before.

  • @pac6010 Actually most of them do have the gas keys stacked. Even my Bushmaster has its gas keys properly staked and its not even milspec.

  • @MrMosinNagant1937 Ya maybe that's something new these days manufaturs are doing now because of the demand, it hard to do by any stretch. I can still name about 6 company's off the top of my head that don't so there are plenty of them out there. Always check before you buy if that's something you care about. I have never had a problem even shooting 1000 rounds in a day. You just need to make sure you lock tight it well and check it often.

  • how much did cheaper then dirt pay you for this video, lol! My Bushmaster is every bit as good as that Colt!!!

  • @kansaskid6969 I don't get paid for reviews. I buy my own firearms and give my honest opinion. I purchased this rifle from my local dealer. I mention Cheaper Than Dirt because at the time they had the absolute best price of any online retailer that I have done business with in the past. Thanks for watching.

  • Comment removed

  • @kansaskid6969 for 1000, id get a basic armalite m15, they invented the platform, im pretty sure they know what they are doing

  • @darksamurai73 Armalite makes a good rifle, but the Armalite that exists today isn't the same company that was involved with the development of the AR15. Eugene Stoner, Robert Fremont and Jim Sullivan designed the rifle which was sold to Colt. Colt has been manufacturing the M16 for the US military since the very beginning. But, as I said, the reborn Armalite does make a good rifle too.

  • @Sturmgewehre funny, my m16 and my m4 while active were FNs, and armalite is still armalite. whether design was sold or not.

  • @darksamurai73 FN makes M16's (like the A4) but Colt has been the only manufacturer of M4's since it's introduction. Any formal branch of the military (Army, Navy, Marines, Airforce) that have M4's will be Colt. Other government agencies have issued M4 styled rifles, but they aren't technically M4's. Armalite that exists today has no ties to the original company, they only purchased the rights to the name after Armalite had been out of business for many years.

  • @Sturmgewehre

I hear this all the time, simply because a business is under different management doesn't mean they are worse for simply that reason. Armalite may not be my rifle of choice, but, I have a friend in law enforcement that swears by Armalite. Not even a 6920 is a "real" M4 if it's a civilian Rifle, even if it says M4 on the side.

  • @RPXXPR You hear what argument all the time? I didn't say Armalite built a bad rifle (I said they make a good rifle), I said the company that exists today isn't the Armalite of old. It's a totally new company. As for the Colt M4 not being real, it most certainly is. M4 is a trademarked name that Colt owns and if they call it an M4, it's an M4.

  • @Sturmgewehre i just got out of active duty service in 3rd ID out of ft stewart, my M4 was an FN, i know my weapon well guy

  • @darksamurai73 FN does not make an M4..... Colt does though.... Sorry to burst your bubble.

  • @jonhomemade whatever you say guy, i carried one for 5 years

  • @darksamurai73 Hey man don't get mad he is just saying that FN doesn't make an M4 model and he is right. They are famous for the SCAR Series. and other rifles not the M4.

  • @Terraformer404 whos mad at anybody? sure as hell not me, and i carried an FN m4 for 5 years in the wonderful active duty life as a 3rd infantry soldier out of ft stewart, i have alot of trigger time on said m4, i know it backwards and forwards, it was an FN whether you like it or not, it was an FN

  • @kansaskid6969 No, it isn't. Bushmaster cuts all of the important QA steps. Better read the specs, and brush up on your gun knowledge.

  • @kansaskid6969 Your bushmaster is as good as a Colt? LOL!!!

  • very good video

  • Hickok45 FTW :-)

  • hickock45, nough said

  • so,this rifle doesn`t come with a m16 bolt?is that correct?thanks!

  • is it semi or full auto?

  • @patarfuyfuy Semi automatic.

Full automatic would cost substantially more.

    *legally*

  • I refused to buy Colt the day they started jacking with the lowers (odd size push-pins, more metal in the trigger area etc).

  • Well i see alot of talking about mil-spec, but know this guys, ''the best rifles that are made in the industrie aren't mil-spec, they're made by GEEKs'' Such ass JP Enterprises!!

  • @AlfonsFromAtech Yeah I'd agree with that. JP makes a fabulous rifle, LaRue, as well. They are more expensive, but IMO worth the extra money. For me, the colt name doesn't do it for me. I understand they're good, but to me they're just above a bushy, or RRA. The only time you'll really (again this is IMO) notice a difference is when you start getting these higher end rifles, like Larue (sub 6 pound rifle) or JP rifles.

  • @Trader0692 You're exactly right bro!! :)

  • @SoCalAirs0ft yea that was a joke take it easy kid

  • Great video on the Colt 6920! I was wondering if you could tell me more about the Barrel Specifications? i just purchased one for my AR build and would like more info on the barrel. Thanks

  • Just picked mine up from "The Island" yesterday lol..broke it down feeder ramps looked great, it is exactly the same thing I tooked to Afghanistan. Great review..

  • What is the difference between the LE6920 and the SP6920 i here it is nothing

  • @makeuplover1935 Just the markings on the lower receiver.

  • @makeuplover1935 "Law Enforcement" version. If you watched the video, he explained that...

  • @makeuplover1935 The only difference are the roll marks on the lower receiver. It appears that they are discontinuing the Sporter model (SP) and all roll marks will now say "M4 Carbine". I just picked up an LE6920MP-R and it indeed does say "M4 Carbine" on the side with an SP serial number.

  • grabagun have the SP6920 for $986 with only $6 shipping.

  • I'm sold on this rifle. Put this baby on layaway.

  • How does a 1:7 twist barrel handle 55gr bullets and how does a 1:9 twist barrel handle heavier bullets?

  • Is this rifle complete military spec.I want to get closest to military spec of the m4 that I can. I think I am going to buy it this month. Also do you know if a upper reciver 20" goverment profile from bcm fit on the colt lower receiver????

  • @LiveFreeOrDie1985 Yes, it is as close as you can get to being a true military M4 rifle. Current Colt rifles can also be had with the markings "M4 Carbine" on them as well. All parts meet military specifications with the exception of the semi-auto components.

  • @Sturmgewehre Can this gun (Le and SP) shoot both 5.56 and .223 also does this (again both) have a chrome lined barrel. PLEASE ANSWER THIS IS THE DECIDING QUESTION

  • @ImYerrow Yes, it can fire both 5.56 and .223. Yes, it has a chrome lined barrel.

  • @Sturmgewehre i have nothing against colt, but for around $800 or a little more the Smith & Wesson MP-15 OR is an outstanding rifle in terms of accuracy, durability and value. Colts are great firearms, but you can never so wrong with a Smithy, I hope in the future you will do a review on their MP line of ar-15s! thanks!

  • @Sturmgewehre which ones have the m4 carbibne markings. I think I am going to pick up the 6920 at the end of this month.

  • @LiveFreeOrDie1985

Colt was originally making the LE6920 and that is the one in this video. Last year they started making the Sporter model which is exactly the same except that the rollmark says "Sporter M4 Carbine." This model has been discontinued and the newest 6920s have a rollmark that only says "M4 Carbine"

  • @TheLostOtter I heard the sporter is 1/9 twist and not 1 /7 and is not military spec.

  • @LiveFreeOrDie1985

    All 6920s have 1/7 barrels.

  • Was wondering why Colt has so much bashing from other ar15 producers and their customers? Is buying a colt really worth the extra 3 to 4 hundred dollars your going to spend. They say Bushmaster, Stag, S&W, and DPMS are better and cheaper. Also why did colt stop selling to civilians years ago? Sorry just trying to buy and ar15 when I come home from deployment and wanted to get your advise.

  • @ajbrown0117 I wouldn't say Bushmaster, Stag or DPMS are better - or even as well built - as Colt rifles. BCM, Daniels Defense, Noveske, LMT, etc. are as good and in some cases even better than Colt though. But their prices reflect that. Lots of people hate on various things. However, if you venture over to discussion boards like M4Carbine*net you'll find most agree Colt builds a solid rifle.

  • @ajbrown0117 buying an AR is like shopping for insurance, it can make your head spin. Read up, shop around but in the end best to buy a Colt and sleep well. They are the standard for a reason. The little Pony means nothing until it's time to sell but the design and QC that Colt delivers is worth every damn penny.

  • Thanks for the video, I like all of them...I am looking at thi rifle at the local gunshop, magpul equipment, $1249...I am really leaning towards that but also the M&P looks pretty good too. Do you have any xp with the Smith?

  • It's a bare bone M forgery. It's not a good value even at the current sale price. For the $1150.00 a 6920 costs I can build a rifle that would be better than a 6920 in every way. You Colt fanboys love to drink the Kool-Aid!!!! I own Colt products also, but you guys claiming you are getting a great deal buy buying a Colt are too much.

  • @plumberjoe80

You overstated the cost by about $200 or so.

  • doesn't matter if its colt, Bushmaster, Rock River Arms, DPMS, FN USA....an M4 is an M4. Basic AR-15s standard models (not customized/pimped out), I can't tell a difference.

Nothing wrong with a Colt, but I wouldn't pay extra for the Colt logo rollmark.

  • @Alexn1067 Bushmaster, RRA, and DPMS don't follow the TDP. Colt and FN do.

  • @KalashnikovKid762 like I said, I can't tell the difference...

  • Where can I find one for $950? I want one.

  • @phaqu22

    dsgarms.com

  • So would you need a license to purchase this or no?

  • so if i got a stock for this it would have to be mil spec? sorry im new to rifles.

  • @MrGlock55 YES it would. the Mil spec is smaller in diameter than the standard tube

  • Excellent video. Spot on and to the point(s).

  • Again another tight review. Glad I subscribed!

  • @Sturmgewehre. Unless you carry it for Uncle Sam I can assure you that it is not mil-spec. I believe the main difference is batch tested bolt carrier groups, and barrels. I love the channel and don't want to have a pissing match. You have probably forgot more about the AK and AR platforms than I know. Keep the great videos coming!

    Joe

  • @Sturmgewehre. I think for all practical purposes they are great for the average user. Colt is not the only maker of AR parts for government contracts. Mil spec is a standard. Not a brand. I agree that they are not 100% mil spec. Neither is that Colt.

  • @plumberjoe80 I never said mil-spec was a brand. I never said Colt was the only government contractor. Colt is in fact mil-spec. What I said is that PSA and Spikes aren't completely mil-spec, and they're not. I didn't say they were bad rifles, because they're not. They cut costs in production to keep prices low. They appeal to a certain market segment and offer a fine product at their price point.

  • @plumberjoe80

As far as M4s go they are the only company on contract.

Right now the sales that have been going on with the 6920 do in fact make it one of the best values currently. For the features offered they are priced really well.

  • I also think that Spikes Tactical and Palmetto State Armory make excellent rifles for less money than a Colt. Around $750 for a Spikes, and $550.00 for a Palmetto.

  • @plumberjoe80 They make decent AR's, but neither of them are true military spec rifles. Many budget AR's makers claim to have true mil-spec guns, but in reality they don't. This doesn't mean they aren't good rifles, it just means a few corners are cut to keep costs down.

  • I have an uncle that used to have one of these rifles... it was a great gun... sadly he had to sell it along with a full auto UZI 9mm due to divorce fees.... *cries*

  • Excellent video . I recently purchased a SP6920 ,excellent rifle .

  • I hate California...

  • Have you reviewed the Del-Ton ar 15 yet? Any opinion?

  • i bought a 6920 last July. Maybe the worst machined gun i have ever bought. I quickly traded up for a daniel defense. no problems there.

  • @Sherpaful sure you did

  • @O7ROADKING screw you a-hole, you don't know me. I did indeed get rid of that pos colt for something superior (daniel defense). I'm sorry if my opinion of colt bothers you. Maybe you've spent a lot of money with them and only want to hear good things. Either way I don't give a shit.

  • @Sherpaful well with a reply like that .it only shows ya about 12. learning about the guns on xbox cod and im glad i dont know you!

  • Whats the song in the beginning?

  • @TheMango121 Its just random intro music.

  • Can you just do a big review for people looking to get a good AR for around the $1000-$1500 price range? :P

  • Damn you. You just cost me $1000. ;)

  • sorry cant get these in california

  • @JUKEBOXX1990 Colt 6920CA is California legal. Ordered one myself from G&R tactical.

  • @patriotmanUSA o really thats kool but i think i wanna build my own instead..thanks for the heads up though have fun and be shoot safe

  • I like your reviews and normally tend to agree with your assement. The Colt is a "good" AR however they have fallen behind IMO. Their offerings are much too narrow these days and there are better ARs available for the same money. I won't seek a carbine Colt again unless it was a smoking deal I could make money on. Old outdated AR configuration that is less than desirable to many that have been there, done that. They need to catch up and quit surviving on Pony hype. JMO though.

  • good clean, straight to the point video sir.

NutnFancy take note with all your incesent jabbering.

  • @WESTover7740 nutnfancy is more of action run and gun channel..

  • i went with a spikes tactical for the same reasons you mentioned about the le 6920 and i bought it through my local gun shop :)

  • If you had the money would you prefer this firearm or the Olympic Arms K3B-M4 AR-15 you did a review on? I'm sure theres a number of factors to consider but dependablity and accuracy are the most important to me.

  • Another nice review, thanks for posting it!

  • Colt have a history of "Wiggle" or play between the upper and lower receiver ???

  • @traitor30041975 Play between the upper and lower receiver doesn't effect anything.

  • Comment removed

  • Do you think less expensive variants such as Rock River, Bushmaster and other manufacturers can match the the quality of Colt, or Colt is King? Also if other companies make M4's for the US DOD does that mean Colt can't provide enough for the DOD?

  • @NovaScotiaNewfie There are other compaines that make guns as good and BETTER than Colt, LWRC, LMT, Barret, ect. Bushmaster and Rock Rivers arent as nice as the Colt, but they work just as well for 99% of people. Even the "low end" ARs Spikes Tactical, Del-Ton, DSArms are still high quality and will serve you well, dont get to hung up on the name.

  • Comment removed

  • @Sturmgewehre Just to clarify, it's not a rail system, in that it can be removed. I'm sure you know that, but someone reading this may not. The 6940 has a monolithic upper, it's all one solid piece, the rails are part of the upper. The upper is proprietary as is the barrel. I agree the 6920 is the best buy carbine right now, but the 6940 is definitely more accurate, has a flat top with folding sights, so adding an optic doesn't mean you need to buy BUIS too. I love mine.

  • Ugh carbine length gas system. Buy a BCM middy and lower and you will have a weapon with equal or better quality than colt and a mid length gas system. Only maybe $50-$100 more.

  • Can you get it in a mid-length gas system?

  • very good video. Now i need 1000$.

  • the 82nd is issued the knights arament rifles

  • i belive this is the perfect AR15 for a first timer

the Colt 6920 is about the same price as a Saiga SGL 21/31

why anyone would buy one of those over one of these is beyond me.

  • @HunterKiller308 It's not beyond you it's your opinion, none is better than the other. I already have an AK and am really looking into getting this AR. But this is America, nothing is beyond us, why not by AK and AR? I sure as hell will.

  • @crest2598 there is NOTHING an Ak can do that an AR cant do better

there is a reason professionals all over the world use the AR and 3rd world dirt farmers use the AK, its a poor mans gun, nothing more

  • @HunterKiller308 You are probably an AR fan boy judging by what you just said. So you are saying that AKs are purchased by nothing but poor people? That the AR is more reliable than the AK under all conditions? That the .22 caliber round the ARs fire have more barrier penetration than the 30 caliber round the AK fires? Not to mention they were designed for different purposes so shouldn't even be compared to each other in the first place.

  • @crest2598 "So you are saying that AKs are purchased by nothing but poor people?"

no but im saying they are probably the only ones who should

"That the AR is more reliable than the AK under all conditions"

with piston driven uppers, fail zero bolt groups and exo nickel boron coating yeah i might say that

i will take better wounding effects on soft targets over better penetration of hard targets any day

yeah, the AK was designed for dumb dirt farmers, the AR was designed for soldiers

  • @HunterKiller308 Jesus Christ it's like reasoning with a mentally retarded grape fruit. I'm done with you, pointless to try and talk talk to idiots.

  • @crest2598 yeah ok kid, ask any professional instructor and they will tell you the same thing

  • @HunterKiller308

    I have a SGL 31

    And a SP6920

My SGL-31 was 750 bucks 2 years ago

    The Colt was 1000

The SGL is a great rifle (cheap ammo too) Not 1 jam out of 4 tins of Surplus (4k rounds)

The Colt is more accurate and I have had a few hicups out of it, but a simple pull on the charging handle fixed it.

I say you can't go wrong with the SGL-31 OR the 6920. They are both "combat"

    accurate and pretty damn reliable.

  • @TheMango121 you are compairing a top of the line AK to a mediocre AR

AKs are not combat accurate for taking headshots at extended ranges, and thats usually the only target one presents when firing from cover

ill take the weapon with better ergos, accuracy, modularity, range and recoil manageability, lethality, and battery of operations

  • @HunterKiller308

Considering most engagements happen <100 yards I would say the AK-107 is more than capable of headshots at 100 meters.

Again i'm not speaking about 7.62x39, i'm speaking about 5.45x39 current issue Russian small arms. (AK-107)

  • @TheMango121 yes the AK74 has great accuracy at 100 yards, but if ever get into a range war or counter sniper type of combat your at a serious disadvantage 250+ yards

you can go aheaed and bank on the idea you wont be getting attacked past 100 yards, me i like range and accuracy on my side, i want to reach out and touch them before they even know im there

  • @HunterKiller308

I wouldn't even grab my AR or SGL if i was going to be taking shots past 200 meters. Much rather have a .308.. 5.56 has its limits

  • @TheMango121 are you serious 2.23 and 5.56 can hit at 1000 yards..ar is more versatile cause your 308 sniper wont do well in cqb.

  • @JUKEBOXX1990

HAHA realistically about 500 meters is pushing the 5.56 round. It has poor performance past 250 yards(using 55.gr nato). It becomes a glorified 22 LR at around 300 meters.

  • @HunterKiller308

    wow...

  • @jules771 wow....what?

  • @HunterKiller308

oh nothing really, I just get a bit of a laugh at all the chest thumping. Let me ask you something. Do you think the jihadi's sit down and discuss whether they would rather use a polish or romanian underfolder.

You guys really make me laugh, it's the guy holding the thing that makes 99% of the problem.

Great video, I just bought one. Thanks Sturm.
