  • @theatreofpain270 if you get a chance listen to oldies 98.1. it is a philly based station that still plays this song and genre. only the hits from the 50's 60's 70's and a little bit of the 80's. I know you can listen online. So don't jump the gun about how fm sucks. Philadelphia still has plenty of good stations

  • gods, this brings back my childhood...

  • I just said this to my newly branded EX-GF...

  • I was probably 2 when I first heard this song (16 years ago) and I've not heard it for a while, but it brings a lot back.... one of the best singles of the 20th century.

  • I remember this cut right here! Brings back wonderful memories!

  • The SECOND I hear that certain style of old keyboards, Wurlitzer I think, that WAS that seventie's sound I'm hooked. Those old electric pianos create SUCH a great groove.

  • Paul Carack singing..... Man I am old to know this....

  • @65FALCONSG - and no one has seen Paul Carack since he sang live on Roger Waters The Wall in 1990.

  • @boozygrogy Interesting..... I actually have that concert on VHS and also remember Paul singing there as well.

  • how long are you gonna make me wait.

  • Only thing I don't like about this song, is that it's too short. It leaves you wanting more. Is there a long version?

  • Like I've posted before, they don't write songs anymore like the did in the 70's! Love this song.

  • Hmm! I am 61 now, but remembered my 65 Blue VW and use to hear this song on AM/FM in LA..1975 that was a good time to live in LA, or Southern Cal back then..many nice memories..Thanks for the song.

  • So.....why do we see a picture of Ace Frehley????

  • So the pic stays!.....LOL...... good enough

  • how could you dislike this

  • Like Seinfeld said."Some people actually like to F**k around on the ones their f**king around with.Whats up with that?"

  • This song actually has nothing to do with love.

  • A perfect tune/question for when you find your lover "In flagrante delicto".

  • Ace Frehley!!! LOL!!!!!!!! I wouldn't change it either dude!

  • GREAT SONG!!!!

  • HAHAHAHA

  • It really doesn't get any better than this.

  • ali malik farted

  • Okay, I thought I suffered a mental lapse here. I knew this song wasn't Space Ace, guitar god extraordinaire, although I do love this tune.

  • AM Gold

  • the band is called ACE

  • Nice song! One of my favorites. Best version of this song. Some of the others are ACE but doesn't sound like ACE. Thanks for posting.

  • Weird, when my brother and I were 6 years old we really thought "Ace" Frehley sang this tune! I was really disappointed when I got his solo album and this song wasn't on there... :) That's when we found out it was the band "ACE".

  • @XEROCKXBand Stop. You know damn well that story is bogus from the get-go

  • @jhamler1 haha glad you remember what I was thinking when I was six, jackass.

  • heheheheheh thats funny

  • There's always that extra curve to twist something that's really bent out of shape.

Sometimes it's the only way back to perspective.

So I ask, how could anyone associate such a miserable piece of music with a face that looks like PISS?

  • Hey Lois, can we go to Kissstock,, can we?

  • kiss SUCK!

  • @MrJosealago you suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GIVE CREDIT WERE CREDIT IS DUE, YOU IDIOT,... LOSE THE PICTURE

  • Haha, if i werent a fan of Kiss, I wouldnt have forgiven you

  • I

never knew he did this song! I love Ace!!!!!

  • @TheJackie2112 He didn't do this song. It was a group named "Ace". Lead singer is Paul Carrack who also sang lead on "Tempted" with Squeeze and "Silent Running" and "The Living Years" with Mike and the Mechanics to name a couple of his projects.

  • heard paul do this live on smooth radio .....ace

  • I can't help to think way back when, when this song first came out, AM radio was a big deal for Rock..Now! What's AM? or for that matter even FM..times do change!

  • @billeagle51 Unfortunately FM sucks these days as well with all the crap that people call music. Its just a waste of electricity.

  • Why is a pic of KISS on here?????

  • Ace were a British rock music band, who enjoyed moderate success in the 1970s. They are notable for their part in the early career of Paul Carrack, who later became famous as a solo artist, and as a member of several other groups. Ace are best known for their hit single, "How Long?" which was a UK top-20 single in 1974 and a US top-5 in 1975.

  • Probably my favorite dance song back when it came out dancing at the Dome in Kent Ohio to LIVE music. ACE was really a one hit wonder with this awesome big hit. Then dancin to it again at Bucknell in Lewisburg PA... a local band would play it.

  • Probably my favorite dance song back when it came out dancing at the Dome in Kent Ohio to LIVE music. ACE was really a one hit wonder with this awesome big hit.

  • THAT'S NOT ACE FREELY? WHO THE HELL PUT THAT PIC THERE

    LOL!!!!

  • WOW! I NEVER KNEW ACE FREELY SANG THIS ALL TIME CLASSIC!!!!! THAT'S GREAT!!!!

  • OMG I FINALLY FOUND THIS SONG YAY

    I love this song :)

Tho im a heavy metal fan at heart

  • FUCKIN DUMB ASSES!!!

  • ace that the bammm!!

  • i think we all had a how long in our lives before

  • Just call it a total dumbass that doesn't know shit :)

  • this wasn't kiss... dumbass!

  • @bullshipus123 Read the fuckin description u fuckin DUMBASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bullshipus123 it says in the description that he knows its not the same ace as in kiss.. why don't you issue a comment apologizing to the poster of the video and apologize for calling him a dumbass.. ya dipshit.

  • Wrong Ace, pal........jeez

  • I wonder how much phthalates that band has absorbed from all the makeup?

  • That's Paul Carrack formerly of Ace.

  • @Netspin1 and recently of Mike and the Mechanics!

  • Reading through the comments, we never learn why Mikedeviant decided to headline his post with a picture of Paul Daniel "Ace" Frehley, formerly with KISS, while we listen to the clean, simple haunting voice of Paul Carrack sing "How Long?".

For those wanting to know more about "How Long?" and the attractive voice of its recording artist as I did 2 months ago, you can save yourself the confusion it's caused so many others.

  • @Netspin1 really? cause in the description this is what i see from the poster of this video.. maybe it was not there when you viewed the video? but he has this posted...

I know that Ace isn't Ace Frehley, but I used to think they were the same thing in elementary school. So the pic stays.

  • Yes, It's about the bass player playing with another band on the sneak. When he tells Ace, they ask him 'How long has this been going on?'. The payback is that they get another bass player, then come up with this cool bass riff and have a hit without him.

  • @mrmike6lee6 That aint true is it

  • It's just that KISS is so bad, and this song is so good! I mean KISS is really bad, I'm talking very bad, like painfully bad, like so bad they had to put they're makeup back on because their only draw was the circus that is they're act, not the playing. Why else did they tank when trying to go legit (very loose analogy)?

  • @jbdbsb shut the fuck up. kthanks

  • @dartheric I know the truth hurts, but you must face the truth KISS are clowns, though I do enjoy Gene Simmons "Family Jewels" show. It's not reality, but still some what intertaining.

  • @jbdbsb its not the truth its your opinion. like any good american i dont wanna hear it, and yes Family Jewels is hilarious!

  • if you're going to be a dumbass, don't tell everybody. that should be a family secret. shhhhhhhhhh.

  • Why is there a picture of Ace Frehley?

  • @jbdbsb From the Video Description:

"I know that Ace isn't Ace Frehley, but I used to think they were the same thing in elementary school. So the pic stays."

  • @jcfan42 God, I love ACE! ACE in the 70's and me being in kindergarden in 1979 and me wanting to be Ace...and this song playing in the background as well. Ace is great, Ace I love ya...and this song is timeless....Yea...Ace and the other Ace rock!

  • @jbdbsb it's a joke-- you know with the group name and all.

  • That *buzzy* guitar solo at 1:35 reminds me of Steely Dan

  • Lol everytime I think about how many times I've been cheated on, I think about this song.

  • @ImNotYourFriend212 This is actually not a song about infidelity. Its a song about a band breaking up. Sounds plaintive and melancholy enough, but its not about love. Its about a business relationship falling apart.

  • Fine HIDE. deviants ROCK! Thanks Blues Brother!

  • ACE consisted of Paul Carrick (Warm Dust, Roxy Music, Squeeze, Noise To Go, etc.); this guys still strumming.

  • This song is epic and now makes me think of Ice cream

  • great classic.

  • LOL! Sure the pic stays. I was thinking, "damn, when did Ace F. sing this song??"

  • This song is so fire! How long? Classic song...classic question

  • ACE was a britisch group around the genius Paul Carrack, this song was a number one song in the US, but not in the UK. It is one of the all time classics and one of my favourite songs. Great.......

  • You may not believe what this song REALLY means. Find out at the blog SongSense.info. Seriously, I'm not trying to sell anything.

  • LOVE this song -- great vocal and beautiful bass work...

  • I love the swiffer mop song! ...and ace... my favourite member of KISS :)

  • damn this song makes me think of when my fiancee cheated on me

and i knew before she even told me lyrics fit perfectly

  • Perhaps the best one hit wonder of the 70's.

  • i like ace - and I like kiss - its just a picture anyway - why get so worked up! we know ACE ( paul Carrick) was a lead singer for the MOR rock band from the 70s.

  • @metrotv I am a huge KISS fan but I am not an idiot and he may not be a KISS fan but if he is then he needs to do a TON of research

  • This song was not by Ace Frehley you idiot, the group is called Ace you dumbass. Just another idiot Kiss fan.

Just kidding, I get the joke ;) Good one !

  • @metrotv Hahaha i read that and thought "don't be stupid" then scrolled down just a little more that was funny

  • good questions always sound good

  • Oh yeah, cool classic cosmic cryptic.. poster's comment brilliant candor comedy

  • @shesjupiter

    hAHAHAHAHAHA

  • @SuperCatfish35

  • THis song has been on my mind , ALL DAY!

  • Great song, we love it here in south east las vegas...thanks for sharing..kj

  • The Ace from Kiss wishes he sounded this good & had a hit song LOL

  • Cathy, my beautiful rose the enduring, everlasting love of my life , where have you gone? A world now gone forever which only exists in my heart and memories, a world in which we never grow old or apart. You will always be young and beautiful and I shall love you forever, my love shall never die. Even after I am gone my love will transcend all of time and being and shall remain always although silent and invisible, as is love itself, silent and invisible.

  • lol - Ace should of sang this song - cause "Beth " is little light in the lyrics - lol

  • "So the pic stays."

I like your style of arbitration. I reminds me of something I would do. :D

  • i have been looking for this song for a while Thanks

  • Such a great song, I heard it in a Canadian Lowes, and I just couldn't get it out of my head.

  • @Kenster1025 . my favourite since 1974 ......so good to hear on you tube

  • for years i thought van morrison was black!

  • @abolof OMG, SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DID I!!!!!

  • Oh yeah, back in the day........ oh yeah!

  • Classic.

  • Ace Frehley, YEAHH! YOU ROCK, MIKEDEVIANT!!!

  • bobtbear... do you know mary from the bar

  • wat of course this is ace y are u people saying its not

  • One hit wonder but a gerat hit.I wish our juke box at Scotland Yard Bar in Vista Ca had this on the box.

  • This song is not about lovers stepping out, its about their base player who was playing behind the bands back.

  • "How Long" — a song about Terry "Tex" Comer leaving the band briefly to play with the Sutherland Brothers and Quiver, and his subsequent return — was released as the first single. Most listeners interpreted the song as an ode to a crumbling love affair.

Good homework on this one guitarman

  • Ha, Ha!!! Wrong Ace. But that's funny as hell!!!

  • i like ACE solo album cover with this song. now i feel like he did it, so what if he didn't.

  • I fly a lot. I will listen to this next time on take off!

  • Other great tunes to listen to is "I'm Mandy, Fly Me" by 10cc and "Breath" by Pink Floyd

  • WOW! This could have really hurt the success of KISS if people knew ACE was the lead singer, j/k LOL!

Glad the truth has finally come out.
