  • Too bad Chile controls Rapa Nui!

  • The 'JOY' of song and dance!

  • keep it going ma pacific neighbors

  • @SAMitch89 of course I know! can you speak rapanui language? can you speak mapudungun? can you refuse this in our native language? maybe not numbers, but other words have. OF COURSE filipino or indonesian have, I KNOW that Easter Island people are polynesians, but mapuches came from Asia too.

  • @SAMitch89 who cares! they live here and they are part of our culture too, and part of the culture of "the continet", as they say, is part of their culture too... like mapuches, pehuenches, alacalufes, atacameños and rapa nui, all of them are chilean natives, and we are mixed because of spanish conquered us and conquered "Te pito o te Henua"(Easter Island as you said). And you are wrong, natives of the continent HAVE linguistic connections with them! we live here, we know our culture.

  • wow I like this dance!!!!!

    Go Pacific GO!!!!

  • @Miss20109 Oh yes, the dancing is fun. I was there last year, and had the pleasure of watching these same dancers and this video is tame compared to the energy they put in some of their dances.

  • sheeeeeiiiiiiiittttt they dance better then marshallese girls plus there f'in sexxxxxxxxxxy

  • @SAMitch89

yes they are, they are Polynesians. the only different is that they speak Rapa Nui and Spanish.

  • @SAMitch89 Ignorat, because u r saying that, people from Easter Island are more related to Northamerican native and that is a bunch of bs. first of all there's not such a thing as "south american" or American (meaning North), the whole continent is America. people form Isla de Pascua are just as chilean as native-chileans (Mapuches or Araucanos). and they have no relation what so ever to US-natives. Aztec have more relation to USA, but not the pascuenses.

    Saludos.

Viva Chile y la Isla de Pascua

  • @SAMitch89 Ignorant

  • daaamn i didnt know Easter island girls were so hot!!

  • Me encanto la energiaaaaaaaaa q tienen!!!!

    Felicitaciones :)

  • hermoso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the island belongs to Chile, politically. But that doesn't make it lose its culture <3 ! Rapa Nui is a polynesian island, and that fact should be valued more than what country it belongs to

    (i lol's at the tags D: )

  • ok i don't know what is your problem but yes, rapa nui is a chilean island, they are obviously very different but this is not a problem,.,, southerners are very different to the northerners, but we are all Chileans, and that's part of our cultural wealth.

  • Mexbrasi07...please ignore the idiot after you said about Chili and Rapa nui. And yes the real dances from Hawaii and Tahiti are very similar. It's actually the same. We are all polynesia. Did you get that Gatitocute? Idiot

  • Gatitocute... You sound racist! Just so you know... Ah. Hawaii is a mixture of many peoples from around the WORLD! We Hawaiians embrace culture and not see it as a defect in our evolution. We have the most diverse marriages in the WORLD. Because we are all people of one WORLD! Idiot!

  • Interesting I went to Hawaii recently and this video reminds me of my trip I had no idea that South Pacific culture was present in a South American Island ,Thank you for sharing!!!

  • whats the name of the song?

  • Rapa Nui is not Chilean, there citizens of Chile its like saying Tahitians are French or Hawaiians are Americans its just the goverment that rules at this time.

  • @Zanzamor

Rapa Nui yes they are chileans too just like any other chilean born in the continent, for us chileans makes no diferent if your are from the south, north or a island, Chile is Chile. not like hawaiians, with so many whites moving there, Hawai looks like a big metropolis now, we take care of our culture in Rapa Nui.

  • Maaaaahaaaaloooo! I have to say thank you for posting this again! I am Polynesian and have never had the extraordinary opportunity to see the Rapa Nui hula. Maaaaahaaaaroooo!!!!!

  • the girls are smokin hot! love Rapa nui!!

  • I feel SO proud of te pito te henua..it's the most beutiful place in Chile...yes, easter island is chilean

  • te pito o te henua!!!!

  • Alvaro, you appear a little misguided, but you are perfectly entitled to your opinion. I would expect you to get some stronger replies to your comment. Watch this space!

  • Alvaro - if by Hawaiian you really want to say "Polynesian" it's like calling a rectangle a square (all squares are rectangles, but a rectangle isn't a square). You'll find there are many similiarities in ALL Polynesian dances & costumes (Cook Islands, Hawaii, Tahiti, etc) & with their seafaring culture it's difficult to say exactly what came from where & when because they all borrow from each other...

  • ahah no, they are not!

  • Pretty nice your English, a mere translation of English to Spanish. Poor man without identity, typical born evil outcast who does not want anyone, not her mother. Poor idle, Polynesia must feel devastated by a homosexual in their ranks. jajajaj!!...y no es chiste.

  • WOW! BEAUTIFUL DANCE & BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! :)

I was just wondering if the traditional dance of the native people of "EASTER ISLAND" is related to the "belly dancing" of the Middle East -- and if the ancestors of the "Easter Islanders" were Mediterranean people from what is today Lebanon?

Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful video with the world! :)

    _

  • @PhoenicianGoddess ....No, they are Polynesians and Rapa Nui is in the South Pacific. Their dances are similar to Tahiti and the Cook Islands, in the South Pacific...nothing to do with the Middle East.

  • Thanks Ashvalecat for show this film in the web, I don't know what nationality are you but thank you very much for do something for our culture, I am chilean and I love my traditions, thanks again

  • Unfortunately for the resentment many Peruvian entering insult easter island by Chilean be due to a lost war in lebanon in the nineteenth century, causing many videos in youtuve of the island are affected by negative comments from Peruvian and promote Machupichu.

worse still to be unstable peru to attack and kill tourists every year (8 persons in 2008) in contrast to Chile which has better conditions

  • ¡¡VIVA CHILE!!

    Pablo

  • good, fantastic, that dance is just awesome

  • wea da hell is chille located on da map? dey sum beautiful ladies dancin. sign me up!

  • Curiosity prompts me to respond to your comment. Your attempt to appear totally ignorant is noted. You can clearly operate a computer so would have no trouble locating Chile.

Your quasi English is obviously a sham. Please explain; what is your purpose with this?

You will of course find chilli next to the ketchup in the kitchen.

  • I was going to answer to that, but you beat me to it. That is the best answer this person may get.

Viva Rapa Nui!!! Muy bonito el video. I just would love to go there someday.

  • @Ashvalecat

    mahhhhh gosh u damn redneck!

    hahahahaha

I think if you are trying to find "Chille" you will never find it on a map, so try to delete an "L"

  • @Ashvalecat why must you be rude to be witty? does it please you to shame someones (what you call) ignorance. idk, guess my curiosity was just tickled a bit as well.

  • @808localbwoy use a map genius ¡¡¡¡

  • @808localbwoy please: CHILE is in SOUTH AMERICA NEAR ARGENTINA, PERU, BOLIVIA AND THESE women are in ISLAND OF PASCUA PROPERTY OF MY COUNTRY CHILE .-

  • As peruvian I was told in school that the Eastern Island was Chilean...and as far I'm concern that's the way it is.

  • Miralook you are so ignorant so let me share this with you, in the 1800's the Peruvian blackbirders came to polynesia, tricked my people into going to Peru to work the mines, they were beaten, killed and treated like animals. Only a few made it back to the Islands, these were peaceful people who lived peaceful lives. So keep your comments to yourself Miralook.

  • I can't apologize enough to you and to your people, and you are right about me being an ignorant, I have to confess I don't know what a blackbirder is, even more ignorant that Peruvians where in Polynesia, but I hope you can forgive living Peruvians for what bad ones did 200 years ago, we are not like that, remember what happened to prevent it from ever happening again, and don't let it happened to others!

Write what u think I'll do the same

  • It may be on Chilean territory, but it's people are Polynesian, and that you can't deny.

  • Poly people came from South America and the world are still guessing that. They eat and live like the polys.

  • No we came from Asia via Melanesia. This is proved by DNA, linguistics, and archaeological finds. Austronesian societies in South-East-Asia are near identical to Polynesian ones in tradition and culture.

  • i agree with you..We came from the Americas-

  • is the egg easter islands symbol?

  • Last time I checked The Chileans were taking good care of Easter Island. They seem sympathetic and not in the least oppressive. I don't see anything wrong with Easter Island belonging to Chile. So VIVA CHILE & POLYNESIA, no need for any racism...

  • Actually no, I change my mind.

  • i'm chiliean and respect of the prevew comment... we're not trying to reclaim any polinesian thing, isla de pascua is a chilean territory and we care about it and we're really proud of what we got ... viva chile y viva isla de pascua!!

  • sorry you uneducated individual. But we are PROUD of our Polynesian culture, we respect and encourage it. You talk as if we've beaten it out of them. You're an idiot. Educate yourself. Isla de Pascua is Chilean and PROUD!

  • VIVA CHILE!

  • Chiiile!And rapanui my counties!:)

  • Es bonito ver la cultura pascuense. Como me gustaria visitar Rapa Nui. Quizas algun sera posible.

  • wow!

  • to visit... is the key to any travel...to discuss.. more is mute...love to visit but no beer...therefore...perhaps guangdong

  • yeeeeeehaaaaaa i wana go their

  • Rapa Nui is the best, I'll be back one day.

    Iorana RapaNui.

  • That was nice thanks, Bless

  • Thank YOU, it was nice to have a recent comment that I could understand.

  • alonsojeje....

estudie un poco si kiere opinar...

  • This is not a forum for advertising. So please stay away.

Chile

  • the culture is polynesian doesn't matter if it's tahitian or rapa nui, they are one but with some differences. Rapa nui in papers belongs to Chile but they have their own culture and they consider themselves free.

I'm glad that this island loves it's culture> I hope the continent doesn't mess it up, we don't more Puerto Ricos or Bahamas, we need something that will make us feel free.

  • whatever, the girls are mostly chilean if not european and whatnot, they are defitinely not native. by the way, i visited easter island last week and their show was great.

  • rapanui DO mix with chileans and europeans but if they decide to be rapa nui they stay there and get the island's tan. Most of the rapa nui people go live in other continents buy they always go back and most of them die there, it's a cultural thing to be born and die there.

  • Are these people Polynesian or are they Chiles?

I am so confused beccause their culture is so close to the Polynesian culture almost like Tahitian dancers.

  • they are polynesian

  • Rapa Nui was colonized by Polynesians from what is now known as French Polynesia. This is why their dances resemble the dances of Tahiti.

  • Way WRONG!

  • Regardless those Asians that left the mainland were dark-skinned anyway.

    Saludos.

  • beautiful

  • This is not tahiti stuff but music from Rapanui (Isla de Pascua) off the coast of Chile, very similar though since they are they are as well polinisians. Viva Chile. Grande Isla de Pascua!!!!!

  • in english is Easter Island

  • its does sound like cook islands and tahitian... but its nice to see this video...

  • I think this need sorting.

A check with Google Earth reveals the following.

Easter Island is 2400 miles from the coast of Chile.

The Cook Islands are at a further 3230 miles from Easter Island.

New Zealand is closer to the Cook Islands at a mere 1800 miles than Easter Island.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the interest.

  • tell me about it, its wierd.

  • the music sounds like cook island but what is it.

  • Since the islanders came originally from Polynesia back in the 3rd century, then one has to assume that that is the source of inspiration for their music.

Anyone with more polished information is more than welcome to put me right. Thanks for viewing.

  • Is not much left of the original people of the island. The current "natives" of the island are mostly of other Polynesian or Chilean descent. The culture, likewise, is more influenced today by outside polynesian culture that it is by its original culture.

  • Easter Island is by cook island, Easter island in case you don't know your polynesian island is one of them.

  • Wonderful very interesting video. Than you for sharing it.

  • Hanga Roa hotel dancers were great! 8I went to Easter Island in August!) But I am sure the gruop name was kari Kari instead of Kiri kiri!

Thanks for sharig this great video!

  • Glad you liked the video.

Thank you for the correction to the name. Should have checked!! Now amended

  • Very BEautiful GIrls :D

  • wow easter Island people are awesome!!!

  • Thanks for share your video.

  • Thanks for my one star rating.

It's about as good as it gets with a still camera in a gloomy room.

There are worse of the same event around.

But hey, you took the trouble.
