  • Why hello there, IWC Big Pilot on John's wrist. We meet again.

  • what was that face? @2:32 Hah. I just love this guy :)

  • 1 person doesn't know what real music is

  • John Mayer always gives some extra to his live performances. Love it how he always gives another twist to his songs when he plays them live.

  • Is that guitar legally 18?

  • john mayer changed my life.

  • did he play a wrong note at 3:59?

  • @jogabola Yes. But even that sounded "called for" ;)

  • @jogabola no thats just the note he decided to play ha :P it still is technically in the same key. just from a different scale

  • You can't dislike this !

  • he's always wearing my favorite number, 44 :)

  • screw the tabloids and all that crap. anyone that can write and compose music that is this endearing can't be what they make him out to be. he keeps people like me hopeful, no matter how bad things get.

  • /watch?v=YkTu8Sp50Rw

  • one of his best songs I believe and the playing just makes it even more soulful

  • I have super small hands, adult sized gloves are always too big for me :(

Everybody notices how miniature my girlish hands are, but somehow I still get this just fine, so I wonder whether its more down to have a certain amount of strength and bend in your thumb, rather than having large hands. I use the exact same guitar as he does in the video too, so neck size plays no part.

  • His face when he sings... no... just no.

  • Bloomin heck I only commented on this 5 days ago and I'm here sitting in an unknown pub in shrewsbury, uk, with WI-FI, watching it again from my favourites on my lap top!

  • @SilentlyintheShadows Gotta love old banana fingers!

If he was to pass away tomorrow just imagine the change in peoples opinions about John, the utter despair from lovers of his music all around the GLOBE.

This Guy is superb. I mean ''beyoneblues'' is right, these songs cannot be equalled. Of course we have personal preference and this may not be your thing (and that is fine and great) but at least you have to understand talent when it is right infront of you....

  • @BluesMastery I love John Mayer. And, looking at this, he looks like his electric guitar is super cut-away, too.

  • @SilentlyintheShadows Yeah, you are right to love him, he is stunning. I kept on harping on about him to a mate Jay a while back how good JM is and he just told me to shut up about him.

So as it turned out I went to work (he chilled at mine with a beer and a smoke), listened to all the albums on his own, in his own time without any interuptions and he made his own conclusion.

He said 'This Mayer Guy is Fuck!n Ace!

  • daggum. You've gotta have superstretch hands to do that.

  • ..wish he would play more solos like this these days

  • wierdest facial expressions...like this guy and this whole album....

  • sometimes I feel like his songs can never be equaled...like he found the fountain of youth, only it's the fountain of universal songs, and he's not telling anyone where it is

  • he feels it. and this feels the listener.

this is why hes so special.

  • @TwieTobi da schau ich so durch youtube und entdecke dich. lustig (:

du hast recht mit dem was du schreibst.

  • can somebody just tell me briefly what's ths song's all about?

  • It's about the different relationships you have in life. Breakups, get togethers, hookups, endings, and beginnings and how it all continually rotates throughout your life. The backbone is repeated in he end, he hopes that the more love he gives the more he receives despite everything else.

  • pause at 3:46 its hilarious!

  • Was this in 2003?

    I think it is.

  • 4:05 nearly made me cry. "you can find me baby...if you ever want to give. I'll be around the bend" :(

  • Falling asleep to this song only assures you're gonna wake up with a smile! It's one of the most comfortable songs i've ever heard, both lyrically and musically it's just so complete it hurts my brains xD!

  • Aahh the melody is so catchy!

And the solo is awesome.... Just like the solo in come back to bed from max sessions

  • he has gorilla hands. its physically impossible for me to play this song. my hands are too small

  • I was about to write the same thing :(

  • Use your last finger. :)

  • @kaneoheGrown

Stick with it. I have tiny girly hands (I'm a man) and I was able to get it. :) He does have Gorilla hands, though.

  • @kaneoheGrown bar the 10th and it'll stop you from moving your thumb from 10-13

  • @kaneoheGrown your so right,, I have to use my fingers for the top E string with his chord progressions and he uses his super size thumb. I have really big hands but John must have hands like dinner plates! There are chord progressions in his songs which really do require hands the size of new Zealand! Nice to see people commenting nicely for once about class music (and yes I am very biased and this is only my opinion, NOT MY FACT). I am entitled to opinions but not facts!

  • @kaneoheGrown the dude is 6' 3" I'd be surprised if he didnt have massive hands.

  • @kaneoheGrown glad to know that I am not the only one who can't do the 13x101210x (the second chord) the book calls it Fadd2. It is physically impossible for me, and it totally bums me out as this is one of my favorite songs. I have been playing it without the thumb on the 13th fret... but it is such a light bass song that you can notice... Can anyone give me some pointers for an alternative way to play this?

  • @thedesignbystephen; @kaneoheGrown This song took me the LONGEST to reach that chord. Just keep practicing daily and you'll have it. I have short fingers and The Hendrix chord was tough for a long time too; as well as songs like "Edge of Desire", or the police - "Every breathe" or songs with a stretch. BUT they WILL come with daily practice and then you'll be a stretch MASTER! Good luck

  • @abolocks Thanks for the encouragement, I have been practicing and now I have a three fret stretch of the thumb at mid neck, but I am still working on the 4 fret stretch at the 12th fret, almost there!

  • @thedesignbystephen

    x8(5)585

  • @kaneoheGrown just play the 8th fret on the A string, that's what I do, it's the same thing

  • @kaneoheGrown, capo the 5th fret. x0x033 x3x030 for the verse, freestyle with the f chord for the pre chorus. C Am G F for the chorus

  • My favorite John Mayer song. Beautiful lyrics, message, music, and solo.

  • Yeah, the solo from this song is amazing.

  • love it!

  • is it just me or does he say "i believe my lifes gonna BE, the love i give return to me" at the end haha instead of SEE like it normally does...and well, actually makes sense with

  • This is one of my favorite songs of his. I don't like his voice much here for some reason but that solo was so beautiful.

  • my god u have to have monkey hands to play that ! looks at how far he stretches his thumb at :13 !

  • @heyman321

Yeah man... large monkey hands.... i'd wish that too lol, but if you practice your probably gonna be ale to do it, and no shit: it might hurt in the beginning but after a while it wont :)

  • his clean tones are just so amazing. it may seem thin at times, but it is so pleasing to the ear

  • the two-rock amps and custom strats help, it'd be nice to have the best of the best equipment available...

  • not to mention puree talent and skill.

  • just brilliant

  • just brilliant

  • soooo good

  • just brilliant

  • My favorite John mayer song

  • Agreed.

"I believe, that my life's gonna see, the love I give, return to me" Those are absolutely religious lyrics for me!

  • religiuous is the word indeed

  • love this song - live or album.

I got into mayer through his blues in continuum but i realized how good he makes pop sound. He surely raises the bar for pop music as far as musicality goes.

  • @callyjohnwell The music isn't really what I'd call "pop" though. It has catchy melodies like pop but pop is forever changing. The Black Eyed Peas are classed as "pop" and so is Lady Gaga. They're nothing like Mayer. I think Mayer creates an absolutely astonishing coalition of pop, rock, blues and jazz which is why he's one of my favourite musicians on the planet. You can't call him any straight genre, really.

  • @spiffcorgi its soull

  • @spiffcorgi you said it all :P

  • @callyjohnwell Yeah you got on the best path in discovering Mayers music. He's a gifted blues musician but he opted to stop "introducing" blues to the mainstream. That's a shame in my opinion, he was very inovating in doing it. And this last album he wanted to change his style so badly that it lost all the depth except for Edge of Desire. Continuum is still is masterpiece, but Covered in Rain, Why Georgia, Wheel, Clarity, Man on the side.. What a great artist. My favourite at least.
