get this, i was in naples with my sister and mom, my dad was at home up north, he had left a couple days earlier, and we got the very last plane out of the fort meyers airport before this bad boy came rollin in... soo happy i got out when i did :)
we lived in miami at the time....that day was fucking scary to me...when i went outside here's what i saw...charley was over...it smelled awful out there..like dead stuff rotting...most of the houses in my neighborhood were gone...and worst of all....people were out in the streets crying...and that's what triggered my mental scars...
I was staying in a hotel in Kissimmee and it knocked out the end wall of the hotel. I was really scared. The day after was like a disaster area. No electric, water, toilets, traffic lights. Worst of all no flights back to England for 4 days. Everyone on the plane cheered when we touched down in England.
PS. Whoever taped this, thinking they were getting footage of a hurricane, probably should have just gone in and watched it on tv. They would have gotten a better idea of what the storm was doing.
The 5 mile wide eye went over my house in Port Charlotte. What in the world do you mean, Naples was 4 miles from the eye? Charley's eye hit Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte...75 miles from Naples. The eye missed you by 70 miles.

I was in orlando at this time, on vacaton with my family and it actually damged the inside of our hotel room and our rental vn was totaled!

Naples only had tropical storm conditions. The winds were likely no more than about 50 mph there, maybe gusting to about 60-70 mph.
The eye, while over water a couple hours before landfall, was about 40 miles from Naples.
