I guess you missed the parts where I demonstrated and discussed the various inexpensive alternatives? And what does the brand of my chisels and block plane have to do with anything??
Good catch pointing out the "climb cut" issue during your trenching (dadoing) operation in this part of your series. However, I would more appropriately have called that "router drift" or "router travel direction bias," and furthermore have mentioned that the operation should be performed in a direction such that the router pulls away from the reference edge and thereby pulls its attached fence against the reference edge, providing tension between
I wish I still had wood shop! I now graduated so now I have to find a shop. I hope to have my own someday. Love the videos! Something different from beer bellies and flannels. lol
Marc, Thanks for these two videos. This is a great idea...building projects with "minimal" tooling! If you haven't already made a video on building book shelves using these techniques, please consider doing so.
Can you tell me what kind of plywood that is? Thx

@steveyodog Its actually just an MDF core. I usually don't use the stuff but it was all I could find with the walnut veneer I wanted at that time.

@rohenwi I would guess that's my wife. I don't think we've ever had any other girl on the show. :)

good vid marc,
i recently built an entertainment unit too ( i made a video , just click on my username if u want to see it )and found that they make great projects.
not only are they easy to make , but the main thing is that you can make them to your own custom design and specification.
i spent a total of 50 euro on plywood and i got the satisfaction of making it myself.
im not even a qualified woodworker, so with minimal tools, its more than possible to produce decent results.

i love that you don't make a show that tries to sell thousands of tools for every little job. I hope that doesn't change...
