In the 1921 Phi Beta Sigma Conclave in Atlanta. The Sigmas were Photographed what we know as strolling today with canes.....it was done for style. The Kappas did not show up with canes until the 50s. Later in the 1940s Phi Beta Sigma was Shown in Atlanta again Stepping with Canes. Kappas were eventually came to the south and started the Twirling part. Thats the REAL History.

I'm not in a greek but alot of my family is. People love saying Sigma's are biting Kappa's style. That's not true. I will say this. Kappa's were the first to have canes, but Sigma's were the first to step with canes. This is something I was taught by my uncles. Learn about an organization before you diss it.

Sorry young fellas, Sigmas were not twirling canes 20+ years ago. I respect all of the Divine Nine, but Sigma canemaster is an oxymoron. Some of you that claim "historical fact" is truly "myth". Try talkin to a real Phi Beta Sigma who actually "pledged" in the 80's like I did, and see if like the though of a Sigma Kanemaster.
Gnupe, I pledged in Fall 1988 in the Bloody BY @ Bethune Cookman and at times I carried a can. I knew of a sigma brother at Edward Waters college that was a master of the cane. Sigmas are masters of multiple styles. Believe that fellow greek.

Later in the 1940s Phi Beta Sigma was Shown in Atlanta again Stepping with Canes. Kappas were eventually came to the south and started the Twirling part. Thats the REAL History.

For instance, the Alphas have a movement called the Alpha Train the Iotas (God bless em) have the centaur walk. Gnupe, I pledged in Fall 1988 in the Bloody BY @ Bethune Cookman and at times I carried a can. I knew of a sigma brother at Edward Waters college that was a master of the cane. Sigmas are masters of multiple styles. Believe that fellow greek.
