@essexguy99 Yeah, you really would like to burn witches again, right? Damn secular laws! Don't forget: a secular state also protects your right to believe in a sky daddy. Try that in theocracy that didn't pick your favorite invisible being as the boss...
More Catholic priests like this please, I don't want people of religion trying to tell me what to do, their views are too often self interested, intolerant, narrow minded, judgemental and conventional. At heart no religion can ever fully compromise with people of other religions or non. Let the religious practice their religion at home or in a place of worship but keep them OUT of politics and the affairs of state. Please.
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption. Even non-religious people know this.
Homosexual activists, with support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
I'm an atheist, too, and proud to know Father Bernard Lynch and call him a friend. I live in the US which was founded on the separation of church and state but is drifting toward theocracy. Just look at the Republican candidates for president--all lined up against abortion, gay rights, and evolution because of their religions.
Our "salvation" in America was NOT having a state religion. But as Father Lynch says, conflating the two hurts BOTH. If only church leaders could embrace his wisdom.
The good father is rearranging the deck chairs on his Titanic - religion in general and the Catholic Church in particular.
Come now Bernie, take off that silly outfit, get into the lifeboat of reason and join reality. Don't worry, we forgive you. And hey, sounds like you're almost there anyway.
And you know who won't forgive this little stunt right? Your boss Rat Zinger unless he sent you to masquerade as the new face of the church in a last gasp attempt to retain legitimacy.
Why is this so called "man of God" joining himself to such an anti-God cause? Hypocrite much! Like the pharisees of Jesus' day. As the Bible says there will come those one's who have "a form of godliness but deny it's power."
@meadowsirl I wouldn't say that. He admits that the RCC doesn't always embody its own values very well and that sometimes other people can set a good example.
@DaboiaRusselli This makes him a worthwhile guy. :) I mean that means he might look upon someone of another religion and see that they may handle things better in whatever way, maybe in his church you can meditate instead of pray, he seems open-minded enough. I know sometimes other religions can be seen as wrong to some of the monotheist ideas.
@jeneshisugakuto Oh, yeah, no doubt about it. It's good to see a cleric admitting that his church isn't perfect. I wonder how long it will take them to excommunicate him for it. ;)
@shandcunt Well, if the tax laws are enforced, tax exemption can be used to keep religious groups from interfering in politics (like the RCC, which has made a policy of threatening to deny communion to Catholic politicians who vote for reproductive choice, gay rights, etc. -- so far it hasn't worked much better than similar attempts to manipulate medieval rulers did). Problem is the IRS is scared to take on wealthy, powerful groups like the RCC, Scientology, etc.
Very well informed and balanced views. He has understood some of the arguments for the separation of church and state and not only clearly reiterates them but agrees with them! This is refreshing and he should be encouraged for standing by his convictions.
@afx777 I'm not sure if they were catholics but there are a growing number of Christian clergy in the NL that actually may not believe in God but maybe only Jesus.
What he says is worthwhile, but the darned irritating musak that infests this and the other videos in this campaign is far too loud, especially for those of us whose age means that we find auditory discrimination more difficult. Producers, please take note!

Listening to what Bernard has to say it would appear that his views are more from the stance of a gay man than a catholic priest.

@brennies24 most of them are gay who acts like people who gave up making sex for the name of god.otherwise who would do this in this century?
