This looks wonderful. Just bought it on the Steam Sale. Can't wait to play! I know the DRM is stupid, but I've always been lucky enough to have an internet connection 24/7, and I commend Ubisoft for doing away with this particular DRM setup.

@milkerpro DRM is the start of something new...to try and prevent people from stealing the game plus incouraging people to get internet...everywhere.... i will be buying this game once i have a new rig.... i always have internet anyway :P

its prevented less people from stealing games and made more people who bought the game have problems with their game.

Usually because the DRM is rushed or broken. Hell even EA recently apologised about their DRM for the new C&C.

think more before you speak or at least make sure you aren't talking crap.

You can zoom down to the height of your citizens. Though it would be nice if scroll speed lowered a bit at that height heheh

Strange, after more than 10 hours of playing this game I've yet to see any dynamic weather system other than sunshine. It never rains in my game let alone some lightening and the vegitation never seems to do anything more than quietly blow in a light breeze. When exactly does this dynamic weather come into the game? Or is it just that the engine is capable of it, but it's not included and we'll have to pay for an expansion to add the weather?

I agree with you Desert, I have played the game for a few days now, I have yet to see Snow, rain, lighting, etc. I have wondered myself if these features or part of the game or if you have to pay for them.

@kellyarch So after researching the issue further this is what I found out. You may see rain if you complete a campagin scenario (map) and then click the free roam button instead of going to the next map in the campaign, I've seen it once. Lightening is only shown when completing one of the events in 1 of the buildings, can't remember which, labratory or maybe the living tree etc. In the huge amount of hours that I've been playing skirmish, I've not once seen rain or even a slight breeze.

@80redwolf08 Yes, all my settings are maxed out to the highest setting. But it seems that after winning a scenario in the campaign, if you use the free roam option then there is a chance that we will see rain (it rained for me in free roam) and its like theres some basic day and night mode where night isn't all that dark and may have represented more of a season change rather than day and night though. But in all the skirmish games that I've played now, theres been no rain in any of them.

Due to their new drm (copyright prevention) you have to be connected to the server to even play single player. Hundereds of people have complained to ubisoft and they still haven't replied with a solution.

yeah I found the pause by now, silly how the game keeps running while in option menu ^^

so far the DRM hasnt been a problem to me, but I value a stable connection so it hardly fails. I think there are plenty of war oriented RTS games out there and this game became big as a real economy builder. it's like saying Sim City is crap because you cant build an army! this game is just meant for another public wich still is fairly big imo.

Just tried out the demo yesterday and it has quite some new features. Wasn't easy to figure everything out without a playable tutorial, but after a few hours it became pretty addictive. Funny how there is no option to 'save' or even 'pause' the game in the demo. Assuming that will be possible in the full game. Or is it that DRM system??

Aaah DRM is the same then as what they used on Spore?

@Terclian No the same as with AC2, it's not as harmful as SecuRom and you have only a Machine limit. Means that you can just un-install the game and install it on another machine without losing an Install point.

Though you can only install it on 15 or so different machines I think, but honestly who has 15 PC's besides Bill Gates? Other than that the only hassle is Ubi servers need to be running (which is 24/7 if there are no tech issues) to be able to play. Otherwise you can't play your game.

Digital Rights Management. It's a very obtrusive form of copyprotection, because it forces you to constantly be connected to the internet to play your own games. Most gamers (including me) aren't a fan of it at all.
