They rely on brute force to win a fight, but most martial arts such as Wing Chun are designed specifically to overcome brute force with ease. Do you know how easy it is to deflect an incoming punch? It requires almost no effort on the part of the defender, and leaves the attacker wide open for a brutal counter.

An interesting version of the wooden dummy form although there should be a powerful man sao movement at the beginning which defelects the arm exactly in to the corner of its socket with one clean sound. It is truly hard to achieve but as a Master I can do it.

The application of having both your arms inside the other person's is that you can strike the midsection from this stance. If the opportunity doesn't present itself however, it still benefits you because it prevents the opponent from gaining the same advantage. 0:56 has no purpose, if you listen to what he says, his arm being up is merely the arc the forearm is moving in order to grab the opposing opponent's arm in order to shift them and execute a kick to the midsection.

wing chun is a very basic and effective fighting style concentrating on close ranged fighting as apposed to other having dramatic kicking and punching and wide movements of hands and feet
@dougjwhalen o it's effective yes. Basic? not exactly. You can learn "the basics" in a relatively short amount of time. For you to learn the in depth techniques and to understand how to apply them will take time. Fine tuning and building up sensitivity takes time. My father teaches and I've been learning for about 10 yrs so yes my ten years have been a long learning process and still learning everyday =) Got to try out my acquired skills at a recent competition. Really fun stuff.

I'm a traditional martial artist and I love the styles I teach and practice but at the end of the day when all is said and done it doesn't matter what style you do or what the technique is so long as you are the last man standing after a fight. ..."I'd just get all Blanka on his ass and chew his face off like a zombie" I love it! Gonna quote you in my next street defence class if that's ok Lol!

What have you ever given that a million people appreciated. Someone some where got up off there ass and gave Wing Chun a try because of him...What are you doing sitting on yours and making fun of respectable people? I challenge you not to a fight but to do something on Youtube that benifits other people and makes the world a better place.

Hey can anybody tell me what is point of this technique... in 0:53 < I just can't find the application for that. When both of his arms are inside each wooden arm. Can anybody also tell me what is application for 0:56 when his right arm is up and his left arm is down? thx!

The application of having both your arms inside the other person's is that you can strike the midsection from this stance. If the opportunity doesn't present itself however, it still benefits you because it prevents the opponent from gaining the same advantage. 0:56 has no purpose, if you listen to what he says, his arm being up is merely the arc the forearm is moving in order to grab the opposing opponent's arm in order to shift them and execute a kick to the midsection.

For example if you're chinese and move to the UK they would have Chinese and British English accents which in UK would only sound like a chinese accent to another Uk person. wing chun is a very basic and effective fighting style concentrating on close ranged fighting as apposed to other having dramatic kicking and punching and wide movements of hands and feet

@dougjwhalen o it's effective yes. Basic? not exactly. You can learn "the basics" in a relatively short amount of time. For you to learn the in depth techniques and to understand how to apply them will take time. Fine tuning and building up sensitivity takes time. My father teaches and I've been learning for about 10 yrs so yes my ten years have been a long learning process and still learning everyday =) Got to try out my acquired skills at a recent competition. Really fun stuff.

As I know of, Wing Chun only have 108 steps and I don't think there are more than 50 people in the world who know all of it. And this is only the 51 to 60 steps of the wooden dummy...
