Fucking scumbag, no remorse for being, in part, responsible for the death of thousands. Even in war, if you can't show some moral standing, even if it means disobeying orders, you're a scumbag. Fuck you, you old cunt. I hope your last years on earth are agonising and I hope you suffer a long, slow, painful death. I'd spit on your face if I met you.
@SocratesTheGadfly Of course I would, they were idiots too. I was only picking on this video in particular in what I said, had the video been about the Japanese being tyrants I would comment on that too. Don't think I'm bias or anything, the Japanese at the time were scum bags for what they did and the Americans were scum bags for how low they stooped to react. MisterBlack215 i wish you served in the U.S. Military one day. you must never know what fallowing orders are! i hope you are french because you have their stle of war!
@MisterBlack215 Just wondering: did anybody in your family serve in the Pacific during WWII? I've never met anyone who did, who didn't regard the atomic bomb as a Godsend.
8/6/45 Hiroshima
8/9/45Nagasaki
15 hours after "Fat Man" exploded, 'god/man' hirohito gave the surrender order to his cabinet. So, 100,000 Allied POWs camehomeALIVE instead of being starved or executed by the Japanese.
Someone should ask him what is the explanation for the bend or kink in the Cloud stem of the 'Mushroom' cloud! I've always wondered what the explanation for that was, maybe an inversion layer or some meteorological phenomenon caused it?
War is a legal status allowing soldiers to kill soldiers- but not babies and children - and certainly not in such a torturous way (skin melting off and left in sweltering summer heat with no shade)- the atomic bombing was an act of pure evil- we can only hope that there is some mysterious force of justice that rectifies this evil event. The USA's greatest shame is its political weakness that enabled the use of a nuclear weapon on innocent children. Mind-blowing callousness.
@TheLOCATION100 You're overlooking the fact that Hiroshima was the headquarters of the Japanese 2nd General Army under Field Marshal Hata. 43,000 j troops were in the city & >20,000 died in the bombing.
@TheLOCATION100 YOU HAVE NOW IDEA OF WHAT THE FUCK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT YOU PATHETIC PIECE OF SHIT ! try this idea in ww2 the japanese imperial forces put their military bases in the middle of towns fully aware that in an attack their civilians would become HUMAN SHIELDS!!!!!
Near the end, he describes a jolt ('measured at' something like 3g) after about 45 seconds after the supposed bomb was supposedly dropped. After they were sure, theyall looked. The cloud was already higher than their altitude. So who filmed the suupposed mushroom cloud, far below? He doesn't say, and doesn't seem to have even thought about it. ....
@markyboy27able "Little Boy" also killed >20,000 j soldiers. Hiroshima was the headquarters of the Japanese 2nd General Army under Field Marshal Hata.
@markyboy27able 'Little Boy' missed its aiming point by about 800 feet. By WWII standards that was better than average accuracy. For an A Bomb it was plenty good enough.
@markyboy27able HISTORY LESSON:Hiroshimawas the headquarters of the Japanese 2nd GeneralArmy under Field MarshalHata.43,000j troops were in thecity and >20,000 died in the bombing.
If you're concerned about civilian deaths, look up the totals for the J invasion of China 1937-45.They exceed ten million.
@markyboy27able They did what they had to do. I think in retrospect they would have rather have been back on their farms bailing hay, or milking cows. But life doesn't always go the way we want it to. Just ask Osama Bin Laden.
@markyboy27able No one knew, including the pilot (Tibbetts) what destructive power was in those bombs. Are you suggesting that the bombing of HIroshima was morally worse than the leveling of Dresden and Berlin? Or for that matter the bombing of Tokyo? The whole thing sucked. Heck if you wanna go back a few years, you could use Sherman as an example of someone who went over the top and committed immoral acts. But you must agree that those acts ended those wars. And that is not immoral.
@markyboy27able What you say is true, but at "that" point the US wanted to end the war anyway they could. The Japanese were tuff warriors and would never have given up if the Americans had invaded their homeland. Just look at Iraq. The bombs were an unfortunate necesity to conclude the bloodshed that began in 1941. Those bombs may have saved untold millions of casulties. On both the American and Japanese side.
He also doesn't say anything about the navigation; if your entire job was navigation, surely you'd say something about maps, radar, your elevation, what it's like in a B29, how you navigate at night, how good the voice contact was with the other crew, whether there was a jet stream maybe (I believe discovered subsequently) - just some little detail?
@Shawnruss - There are several points. [1] Hiroshima was firebombed. [2] This chap is simply a liar, which is why his story is rubbish. [3] The purpose of the lie seems to have been mainly to keep Stalin at bay. Japan is now known to have been trying to surrender.
@rerevisionist TRYING tosurrender???Howdoyou TRY tosurrender? How about accepting the Potsdam Declaration7/26/45 instead of 'mokusatsu'?How about going on theradio& saying "wesurrender"-oh,that iswhat hirohitodid @ noon 8/15/45,*after* H&N.
@kentamitchell - my email seems to have been deleted or lost. The Americans issued instructions that the Japanese diplomats were not to be spoken to. That's how they 'tried to' surrender. What Hirohito said on the radio is an irrelevance - the US radio stations would have been told to ignore it, or make some propaganda statement. The myth of nuclear weapons, the hoax, was being put in place.
@rerevisionist ROTFLMFAO! A President can tell all US radio stations to ignore broadcasts? Apparently some people in the UK have NO understanding of the US press.
Anyone interested in the truth can look read the cable JForMin Togo sent to JambUSSR Sato 8/2/45. After Sato had asked for J peace terms, Togo replied that it would be impossible & undesireable to state them. (Translation: J govt had not even decided on terms. They were obsessed with retaining power thru a compromise peace)
@rerevisionist I already did- earned a Bachelor's degree in it in fact. That was before I earned my Master's in History.
So, exactly *who* gave an order to all American radio stations to ignore all Japanese broadcasts? Sorry, boy, you're embarassing yourself before the world.
@kentamitchell - You 'earned' a bachelor's degree. The US education system is a laughing stock around the world. And no wonder. Do you really imagine American radio stations had Japanese speakers ready to translate words supposedly from the enemy? Japanese in America were interned in camps - do you they broadcast them? Did they broadcast Hitler's words? The Japanese were totally defeated. Why the HIroshima hoax was pulled - probably to keep Stalin out of Europe and Japan. nukelies.com
@rerevisionist LOL! The American educational system that put men on the moon (and got all of them back safely?) Look up the number of American Nobel Prize winners in Medicine & the Sciences. And while you're at it, ask New College Oxford for a list of US students who attended their summer program :)
Any Pacific vet can tell you that "Tokyo Rose" broadcast in English every night. If the J govt had wanted to communicate a surrender offer, they certainly could have.
@kentamitchell - you really are stupid. But, hey, frame a few diplomas and put them on your wall. Why not issue yourself with a few medals, while you're at it.
@rerevisionist I earned three degrees- and earned a few ribbons during my four years of active duty with the Navy. Do you suppose you'll ever earn an O level? LOL!
@kentamitchell - I'm surprised whoever runs this site allows you to keep wasting space, to be honest. You still have no answer to the comments showing the video is full of lies
@rerevisionist I suspect jmcrawfo enjoys the sight of a Silly Limey Boy making an utter fool of himself as amusing as I do. If you bothered to read Gordon Thomas' "Enola Gay" everything van Kirk says in consistent with the book. He only spoke for 2:34.
@rerevisionist Don't bother debating with this Kentamitchel, he is a die hard militarist. He said that nuking North Korea would be a good idea. Instant WW3 scenario. This man has three degrees in home economics by the sound of it.
"Those who seek to argue that the Japanese were ready to surrender before Hiroshima are peddlers of fantasies. True the Tokyo leadership wanted peace, but on terms rightly unacceptable to the Allies" -Max Hastings "Retribution" p513
Even after H&N 1/2 J cbnt "Big Six" wanted: emporer remains absolute ruler
no occupation
J disarms self
no war crimes trials xcpt in J tribunals
Read the cables of JambUSSR Sato & JForMin Togo 7-8/45 J was nowhere near surrender
Near the end, he describes a jolt ('measured at' something like 3g) after about 45 seconds after the supposed bomb was supposedly dropped. After they were sure, theyall looked. What amazes me about the majority of these comments is the disdain many of you have for the United States. If you hate it so and disagree with its policies than make a difference. 1) Move to another country that will honor your beliefs...you'll quickly find that there isn't one. 2) Do something to change things other than whinning and spewing your liberal hate messages .

His claim to fame!!!! Unbelievable. What sort of human being could feel proud to be part of that act of [I don't know how to describe it]. Maybe the war would have gone on longer, but that can hardly make it 'right'. Everyone involved in this mission belong in Hell.
By far the worst war crime ever committed and a proof of our qualities as a species. For further indications of human sadness marvel at the comments around here. No geopolitical argument will ever justify such acts.
All the crewmembers of the Enola Gay (B-29) are more important than any President to me and are my HEROS. There should be a National holliday on the calender to honor these men instead of that Spaniard Columbus.
I stand corrected....I forgot Columbus is not Spanish, either way he and his apostles did not discover anything. Native American Indians were already in Florida. Columbus is famous for raping, stealing gold from the Incas and just being an outlaw. In Texas, Colorado and New Mexico, they talk about Columbus as if he was a hero and named streets, towns after him. Columbus is no diffrent than Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mussolini,Tojo, Hussien, Kadaffi etc.
i honestly cry when i see this video it disgusts me. what america did was genocide plane and simple and you almost wiped out an entire race from the planet. and the fact that people take pride in this disgusts me its the more horrible symbol of our time and is being used as something to look up to. america needs to recognize what they did was wrong. i honestly do cry when i see this.
Japan was trying to surrender for months before this bomb was unnecessarily dropped, but we did it anyway to show Russia that we are boss. That's the real story.
@caddidon Bullshit, the Japanese would not accept the unconditional surrender terms that were presented in Potsdam, Germany on July 11,1945. They would not surrender unconditionally and were even warned that the failure to surrender would result in their "prompt and utter destruction". THAT is the real story.
@caddidon You are a moron. You don't know history. They were not trying to surrender and ANYONE who says otherwise is completely mentally disabled. If you say they were trying to surrender, back up your statement with proof. You can't, so you won't.
@caddidon ONE of the emperors sons, had snuck a few notes to some British envoys about surrendering, however the Emperor, none of the General Staffs, nor anyone in the Japanese military had made any effort towards surrender. Thats the acutal story
@Johngtr13 . No God bless the victims. Easy saying its neccssary when its other peoples families. May God put shame in your heart and alll of our hearts.
it is so sad that most Americans believe this event was heroic. I have no business in Americans day today life but those people from japan were human and just like them will we perish. Such a wast of life...I pray that will come soon God and stop this stupid behavior of Americans
It was heroic. These guys were on a mission under the directive of the US President. The mission was fraught with risks, dangers, and unknowns. It was not certain, for example, whether the bomber plane could withstand the shockwave of the atomic bomb. The moral issue of how one nation deals with another which is deliberately suicidal was a matter in the President’s hands, and his alone, as Truman quite clearly pointed out to critics at the time.
Human beings are repelled by war, especially those in the military all the way up the chain of command. The decision to use A-Bombs on Japan was made in 1944 by our POLITICAL leaders- New Deal Democrats -who got us into WWII in the first place. These same people are celebrated by Progressives today.
Ike (a Republican) and others questioned the need for A-Bombs and warned of the dangerous US military-industrial complex.
Total trust in Government = Death. Vote against Progressive Democrats.
@Ratboy123465 he did it to end the war sooner. The Japanese were not going to surrender. They would have fought to the last bleeding man. Meany say that about 1 million Americans would have died taking mainland Japan. And that more than half of the Japanese population would have died. So a few hundred thousand deaths is so much better than millions. So you think about it before you call him a mass murder. Given the same situation, would you have done it?
You are wrong! There is no right for anyone to kill only one !!! human being!!! I am not interested to hear, that this saves one or two or thausands of other lifes. This was the fault of men, who initiated the war. is there any reason to do this??? But he could say NO, i will not kill anyone, anywhere for any reason. do you know, what i mean? If everyone says NO to war and kill there will be no atomic bomb and some crap. But a few men always think that there is a reason to do this
@Ratboy123465 You should remember that this man actually believed the Japanese wouldn't surrender. His govt knew different, but were keeping that a secret. The Japanese were making overtures of surrender via intermediaries, the conditions sought were basically the same ones granted. Curtis Le May and McArthur both believed the bomb wasn't what ended the war. This man got lied to, and many US citizens still believe the same lie.
@jimbobeire I suggest you read the cables between JForMin Togo and Jamb USSR Sato. 7/45 Togo told Sato "Japan will not accept anything like unconditional surrender" 8/2/45 when asked Togo did not state J peace terms.
"Those who seek to argue that Japan was ready to surrender before Hiroshima are peddlers of fantasies. True, the Tokyo leadership wanted peace, but on terms rightly unacceptable to the Allies." Max Hastings "Retribution" p.513
@Ratboy123465 Perhaps you should look at the horrific war crimes committed by the Japanese. The murder of millions of civilians, the experimentation with biological weapons by unit 731 on whole villages. There was not reasoning with the Japanese,it was a militarist nation who believed that surrender was a weakness.
@1815ish the Japanese had made overtures of surrender as early as Dec 44, and FDR was informed of them inJanuary, when he got a 40 page memo from McArthur. This man, the navigator, surely wasn't informed of that of course. The press were censored from publishing anything about Japanese surrender offers until after the war. I think 19th August '45 was the first story about it. Also you mention unit 731, whose leader Shiro Ishii wasn't even tried? Do you know why? find out...
@LgndryThndr I'm not putting words in "his" mouth. I've got no problem with the Enola Gay navigator. I have a problem with the idiots who come on here and say "Fuck Japan, got what they deserved, everyone one of those fucking Japs deserved to die, fuck yeah, awesome!"
And Imperial Japan fell a long time ago my friend ;) You can keep cursing out the past if you want but leave current day Japan and the largely innocent people subject to the bombings alone.
@LgndryThndr Yeah. What the fuck is your point? Did I ever say I think we shouldn't have dropped the bomb? No, I think I specifically said I thought it was necessary.
Iam not in the position to say if it was good or if it was bad. Who are we to say its better to kill hundrets of thousends japanese civilians or hundred of thousand US civilians? We are still human beings! War has no Heroes, war has only victims! And even the enola gay crew is a victim! What a shame. A shame for the human race what happend. a shame they beliefed being heroes. Monuments on earth arent 4 ever! they will vanish! Creat monuments in heaven in eternity, doing the right thing
The Japanese were about to surrender when they dropped the bomb. USA was in an arms race with Russia and wanted to show how much penis power they had. So sad so many innocent civilians died. I don't blame "Dutch" he was just doing what he was told. He also was fed the line.
@courty83 they dropped a SECOND bomb on Nagasaki because the first one did NOT make the Japanese surrender. If they were about to surrender, why didn't they surrender after Hiroshima then? Emperor Hirohito had to ORDER the military to surrender after the SECOND bomb.
You're dead wrong on your history. and the bomb (s) saved a million American lives, that's how many they calculate would have died in a conventional invasion of Japan. They were teaching schoolgirls to knife soldiers.
hey think about it if we dropped it on their soldiers they wouldnt have stopped hell they would kill them selves for there country but if you dropped it on there friends and family then they would stop there.. its war man
PEOPLE! son't you see? this is why we fight wars! beacuse in all of these videos theres always the 2 comentors that fight it out to the death! You must accept eachothers differences and realize that the past is the past; it canot be changed! but you can make better choices in the future. so enough with this war of comments. ENOUGH WITH ALL OF THE COMMENT WARS! WE ARE ALL HUMANS! ALL THE SAME! but war will go on. because war, war never changes.
@affggff that was NOT their mission. THAT is a modern mind set. If they would have sat around thinking of that, we would still be sitting in a corner diddling around!
Yes, it is a life of freedom, prosperity, good times, and living life to it's fullest. It't also full of the common sense approach to realize that most of the middle east and Korea are evil and need to be wiped off the map!
@RonocSnuorc SO true man, so true. And why the hell you mother fuckers rate his comment with -1 ? What are you fucking revengeful beasts who crawled out from cave? Have you got no compassion and goodness in mind ? What is done, is done and let it rest in history, but it newer should be forgotten because someone could make the same mistakes.
The Japs were, for a lack of a better word, crazy. They were actually thinking of doing suicide runs (and yes, I know that they already had, but this time that was it), the reaction of the japanese elite was absolute shock, they thought we were going to hit Tokyo, hey, I'm a jap, and I think that it was necessary.
they didnt drop nukes at thousands of unwarned, innocent people who had nothing to do with the war, and made no threat to the U.S. if you approve the bombing of hiroshima you are one sick dude
I'm sure that it was an unprovoked attack, they didn't at all deserve to die, huh, Archerke, all they did was suddenly, and cowardly come out of nowhere and attack us at home.
the innocent citizens deserved to die? you are sick..
and japan attacked pearl harbour, a military base on sea.. they didnt nuke new york to kill thousands of people who didnt have anything to do with it.. just stop with protecting the US and their inhuman actions
Okay, but you have to remember why they attacked Pearl Harbor: to cripple the Pacific fleet and gain enough time to start invasions throughout the Pacific. You honestly don't believe that the Japanese would have dropped a million nukes all over the US if they had the chance? We did NOT start that war. We were attacked, and we retaliated in a way that probably saved millions of lives by preventing a full-scale invasion.
Thinking? The US is number one in every area. It is a fact, not just a thought you idiot! Do some research and you shall see it is you that is the ignorant one!!
@Archerke My feeling is that the people here like to be the Police of the world...so sad there is no peace in the world even after such a bad event in the world
I personally think that Japan was asking for it. Now i'm not saying that it's a good thing...it's actually a horrible thing. I've read a book rwritten by a survivor of Hiroshima and it's horrible what went on. But when I watch a movie like Pearl Harbour,I just think that they were asking for it. They had it comming and they deserved what happened to them.
The Bomb was not needed. Japan was beat, it had no Navy, merchant ships, very few planes left. Italy and Germany had surrendered.. just the submarine force of the United States could have starved them into submission. To make matters worse, after we droped one bomb..before they even had a chance to group to talk surrender, we dropped the second one. Just plain murder on children, babies, old people. And we call Hitler bad for murdering jews? The US is just as bad!
You forgot to mention that the Japanese killed babies by throwing them up in the air and impaling them with their bayonets. And people just want to point the finger and bad mouth America? For putting the Japanese in their place? If the Japanese were throwing babies up in the air and stabbing them with their bayonets, sure goodness knows what else they probably did! Like raping them, cutting their throats or even smashing their heads in with a rifle butt?
And sometimes decapitaing them as they ran. People shpuld realize, that without the Bombs, the war would have lasted until 1946. A million soldiers would have died. Among them could have been our grandfathers, and those liberal hippies' grandfathers, as well. Millions of Japanese would have died. Eventually, the Russians would have intervened, and Japan would have been split in 2. A communist Northern Japan, and Southern Japan. And today, there would be no Playstations or Anime.
@vigo894 1946!!! ....more like 1950! The dropping of the 'bomb saved many lives. More Japanese were killed in the firebombing of Tokyo (over 100,000) in May 1945 using conventional weapons than both A-bombs put together. Japan was NEVER going to surrender. It is not in their culture.
@vigo894 that's not fair to history. japan was on its knees; the atom bombed expidiated surrender, but was not necessary. we could have continued strategic bombing without great loss until Japan surrendered; the end of war was in sight, with or without dropping the bomb. It was, morseo, a strategic decision to both end the war, and preempt the Soviets. It was as much about Japan as it was the USSR.
@onojmai Hitler would have preferred the death of the last german kid rather surrender. Idem the libyan Gaddafi. Hiro Hito for the first time in his life intervened against his generals only because his own palace could be nuked. I agree with core6198 (US wanted also to test the bomb), with vigo894 about the risk of Russians intervention like vultures, like Mussolini did with France but fanatics never surrender, they would prefer even the end of the globe, the nuke was the only sad solution
To all the people who denounce the crews that took part in the manhattan project's conclusion, from all allied countries but particularly america... I wonder if you would feel so strongly in the negative on the subject if your grandfather's had been amongst the million man casualty list that would have come about if Japan had had to be invaded in the 'conventional' sense? Bear in mind that the government of Japan would not surrender and so to end the war they required invasion or choice B.
I couldn't agree more. I'm sure the crew of the Enola Gay made a fat living right into their twilight years gloating and boasting about how the 12 of them killed more people instantly than there have been casualties in the Iraq war.
What a shame. where has humanity gone. what whould have happened if he was borned in Herosama. What is the meaning of winning? how came the evil pride of being just a citizen of one boundry. How can one be so f~~~~ ing rude
My heart pains at just the thought of what they must have felt being responsible for what happenned below them...and all those people dying.....that would torment me forever, I couldnt do conventions...but thats just me.
I can understand at the time, you're flying a mission, you're obeying orders. Nobody knew the power of these weapons then. But now, years later, the death tolls are known, the victim photos are legendary. To parade around at these WW2 conventions hawking these stories with callous pride to serve yourself. Pathetic. Sometimes it takes horrific acts to end a war, but a great nation, an honorable and compassionate victor, does not flaunt them. There is no pride to be had in the doing of this deed.
@yisacknayrabin There's a great deal of pride that the end of the Pacific War wasn't a whole lot worse. My father and uncle were both with units slated to participate in Operation DOWNFALL. Both of them have told me many times that they owe their lives to the crew of the Enola Gay.
@kentamitchell It is possible that the war would have raged on in the Pacific and Downfall would have resulted in millions more casualties. However, Downfall might not have been necessary to induce a Japanese surrender at all. With the Soviet invasion and Germany's collapse, many scholars feel a Japanese surrender would have already been inevitable. I understand your relatives' thankfulness, but for those US lives spared; 150K Japanese died in Hiroshima. In war everything's a wash.
He is just a shame for Americans. Fuck you mother fuckers

The atomic bombs eliminated the need for an invasion and/or blockade and saved MILLIONS of lives.

@markyboy27able "Little Boy" also killed >20,000 j soldiers. Hiroshima was the headquarters of the Japanese 2nd General Army under Field Marshal Hata.
kentamitchell 7 months ago
@markyboy27able 'Little Boy' missed its aiming point by about 800 feet. By WWII standards that was better than average accuracy. For an A Bomb it was plenty good enough.
kentamitchell 8 months ago
@markyboy27able HISTORY LESSON:Hiroshimawas the headquarters of the Japanese 2nd GeneralArmy under Field MarshalHata.43,000j troops were in thecity and >20,000 died in the bombing.
If you're concerned about civilian deaths, look up the totals for the J invasion of China 1937-45.They exceed ten million.
kentamitchell 8 months ago
@markyboy27able They did what they had to do. I think in retrospect they would have rather have been back on their farms bailing hay, or milking cows. But life doesn't always go the way we want it to. Just ask Osama Bin Laden.
spactick 9 months ago
@markyboy27able No one knew, including the pilot (Tibbetts) what destructive power was in those bombs. Are you suggesting that the bombing of HIroshima was morally worse than the leveling of Dresden and Berlin? Or for that matter the bombing of Tokyo? The whole thing sucked. Heck if you wanna go back a few years, you could use Sherman as an example of someone who went over the top and committed immoral acts. But you must agree that those acts ended those wars. And that is not immoral.
spactick 9 months ago
@markyboy27able What you say is true, but at "that" point the US wanted to end the war anyway they could. The Japanese were tuff warriors and would never have given up if the Americans had invaded their homeland. Just look at Iraq. The bombs were an unfortunate necesity to conclude the bloodshed that began in 1941. Those bombs may have saved untold millions of casulties. On both the American and Japanese side.

[2] SKEPTICAL POINT 2
He also doesn't say anything about the navigation; if your entire job was navigation, surely you'd say something about maps, radar, your elevation, what it's like in a B29, how you navigate at night, how good the voice contact was with the other crew, whether there was a jet stream maybe (I believe discovered subsequently) - just some little detail?
rerevisionist 11 months ago
@rerevisionist
How many times do you think this guy told the story?
He's probably had to recount it thousands of different times; he most likely cut to the meat and potatoes of the story by the time of this video.
He does mention elevation, and regardless of your other weak 'skeptical points', what are you actually questioning?
Whether this man was actually on the plane?
That his recollection is wrong, or hazy?
Whats YOUR point?

@Shawnruss - There are several points. [1] Hiroshima was firebombed. [2] This chap is simply a liar, which is why his story is rubbish. [3] The purpose of the lie seems to have been mainly to keep Stalin at bay. Japan is now known to have been trying to surrender.

The myth of nuclear weapons, the hoax, was being put in place.
rerevisionist 8 months ago
@rerevisionist ROTFLMFAO! A President can tell all US radio stations to ignore broadcasts? Apparently some people in the UK have NO understanding of the US press.
Anyone interested in the truth can look read the cable JForMin Togo sent to JambUSSR Sato 8/2/45. After Sato had asked for J peace terms, Togo replied that it would be impossible & undesireable to state them. (Translation: J govt had not even decided on terms. They were obsessed with retaining power thru a compromise peace)

kentamitchell 7 months ago
@kentamitchell - You 'earned' a bachelor's degree. The US education system is a laughing stock around the world. And no wonder. Do you really imagine American radio stations had Japanese speakers ready to translate words supposedly from the enemy? Japanese in America were interned in camps - do you they broadcast them? Did they broadcast Hitler's words? The Japanese were totally defeated. Why the HIroshima hoax was pulled - probably to keep Stalin out of Europe and Japan. nukelies.com

But a few men always think that there is a reason to do this
Ratboy123465 1 year ago
@Ratboy123465 You should remember that this man actually believed the Japanese wouldn't surrender. His govt knew different, but were keeping that a secret. The Japanese were making overtures of surrender via intermediaries, the conditions sought were basically the same ones granted. Curtis Le May and McArthur both believed the bomb wasn't what ended the war. This man got lied to, and many US citizens still believe the same lie.

1815ish 1 year ago
@1815ish the Japanese had made overtures of surrender as early as Dec 44, and FDR was informed of them inJanuary, when he got a 40 page memo from McArthur. This man, the navigator, surely wasn't informed of that of course. The press were censored from publishing anything about Japanese surrender offers until after the war. I think 19th August '45 was the first story about it. Also you mention unit 731, whose leader Shiro Ishii wasn't even tried? Do you know why? find out...

The Bomb was not needed. Japan was beat, it had no Navy, merchant ships, very few planes left. Italy and Germany had surrendered.. just the submarine force of the United States could have starved them into submission. And we call Hitler bad for murdering jews? The US is just as bad!

If there grandfathers had been among the million man casualty most of them wouldn't have been born.

Killing 100,000 people is hardly a claim of fame. Sounds more like a claim of shame to me...
