Get shut of that filter, it has a much smaller surface area than the correct paper one, so needs bigger holes to pass anywhere near the same amount of air - that means NO FILTRATION. You will cause pitting and damage the engine, just as you would with a K&N. Think what the air filter does, then about the surface area of the proper one, then about how you were conned. All you are doing by not using the proper one is starving the engine of air and reducing BHP. Try it on a rolling road and see.
I want to know how you got 15% from wheels to motor? And I have on my 03 mcs 15% pully, custom intake and flash and I put 185whp an 171 torque. I would have more if it was a custom tune and that's all that's done to my car
@killercrx91 hahaha not really plus it doesn't devalue quickly either... I bought my 05 MCS in Dec 08 and I had an accident a year later and they evaluated the car at 500 CAD less. Pretty happy with that! Especially with the rough Montreal winters.
The single biggest factor for the noise increase is the intake. The pulley is a tried and true method of upping the power, and the car now has Megan Racing headers bolted up to the Invidia cat-back. No cat and racing headers = loud.
FYI: this is not my car, this is my friend's. I tried to get him to get a tune but he is trying to do the "bang for the buck" mods which has worked in some ways and hasn't in others.
Very nice. I have an 04' Mini Cooper S, toying with whether to get an exhaust, intake, or pulley first, would love recommendations or to hear what your experiences have been with engine builds.
Agreed, again its not my car. I just shot some videos for my friend, who needs to get it dyno'ed again now that it has been updated. I am not the one to get the proof, so please dont comment that to me, Im only posting some videos and going by what he told me
That would be at the crank, which is not that amazing of a number. And yes its not mine. I realize the parts manufacturers quote power increases based on the situation where they would free up the most power. This is why I got my saab dynoed and hopefully I can get my friend to redyno his mini
how'd you calculate the 215? from what the manufacturers tell you the gains are? they are always optimistic. i'd do a dyno and get whp. after all, it is what you feel on the road. i personally think bhp is useless unless you are just trying to asses the engine in order to change stuff with it. otherwise, i would want to know how much is getting to the ground.
it is a 15% pulley, 2.0 from alta... the diverter does not do anything, and actually covers up more intercooler surface so there is increased cooling efficiency. To make it even better, i might add an M7 tuning hood scoop
actually, that is the stock intercooler...my friend and i polished it then added the M! to get 215, it has an alta 15% pulley, invidia cat back, alta CAI and thats about it

@mikel1982 I would NEVER spend $5000.00 more for a car this because they what more money for no good reason.

@killercrx91 what are yo comparing it to to get that 5 grand difference?
mikel1982 1 year ago
@mikel1982 It's 5K over priced this because of BMW

Is it the pulley that got the superchargers whine so loud?
Jaylyons1 2 years ago
@Jaylyons1 and the cold air intake
coopermull 2 years ago
All you really need to get that whine is the CAI..Alta makes a great one that will give a little more power too
Localdrummerweb 2 years ago
It's both the supercharger and the smaller sc pulley. Check out my video. It's pretty loud as well.

can anyone suggest , how to make a mini cooper s sounds very good with a low budget limit ?

what reduction is the 2.0? 15,16,17,19%? Sounds good man... you sure your getting the most from the IC being that you removed the diverter?
brutalsun 3 years ago

1234chris900se 3 years ago
really, well thats news to me since i did get it dynoed and it put down 209whp and 202wft/lbs of torque which is around 230 crank horse power...
1234chris900se 3 years ago
actually, that is the stock intercooler...my friend and i polished it then added the M! to get 215, it has an alta 15% pulley, invidia cat back, alta CAI and thats about it
1234chris900se 3 years ago
I seriously doubt 215hp. I had a Mini and it takes more than that. Go get a dyno so you can discover you gained about 30hp total.
callbatman 3 years ago
i argree mine had the 15% pully, injectors, exhaust,MTH file and i only put down 189 hp on a mustang dyno
2247188 2 years ago
now after changin the head and cam i run 246 wheel hp
2247188 2 years ago
He only said 215hp. You said 189 on a dyno...which would be 189whp. 189whp would be 217.35hp if you adjust for a 15% loss to the wheels.
Ijustmadethisup4 2 years ago
i see a M7 top mounted intercooler? what parts did you get to get 215 HP? nice sounds by the way. love that whine from the alta cai.
