Oh yeah forgot to say some people might find the Jim dunlop max grip jazz 111 easier to use, very similar pick and it really sticks to your fingers,,,,,
Great video bro, I just stubled across the jazz 111 picks by accident a while ago after useing herco's for years, I would say the pick really facilitates this style of playing as it glides very easily between the up and down strokes, I found it takes a bit of getting used to for strumming though as it has no 'give' as flexible picks do.
These licks are really nice (and easy to learn), and them have the essence of Bonamassa!! By the way, my congrats for your nice technique and taste in music with that age! Keep on rockin'
Hey man. I'm also a guitar player, and I'm 13. I have a question tough. As I was playing along i felt as if my pick was holding me back. I felt as if my fingers would not need as much practice as my picking would. I also noticed that you were playing with jazz III, the one's Joe uses. Do you think the pick helps you somehow?. As I said, I have no problem playing the fast licks from laundromat, (rory gallagher) but these seem a little more difficult. Apart from that, thanks for the great lesson.
@skyguitar321 I felt the same way. The pick is honestly personal preference, and it's not why you're having trouble. It's most likely because the irregular picking pattern (up or down strokes) are really different from everything else you've probably been playing. I suggest starting the lick with an upstroke or downstroke, and only focus on doing alternate picking (up, down, up, down). From then, you can figure out if starting from an upstroke is better, or with a down stroke.
@skyguitar321 Remember, Joe Bonamassa uses ALTERNATE PICKING for these licks. I have a VERY good alternate picking excersice, and I could post a tutorial if you like.
@ZoSo1620 Yes I'm aware Joe, like all guitar players uses alternate picking. I am considering changing to Jazz III, and I wanted to know if it really makes a difference. As far as the tutorial, I would be very thankful if you could please post it, when you have time. thanks.
These are some great licks. Thanks for posting this vid. btw - I saw a request for tabs, so I'm tabbing out each of these licks and will post a link to them shortly.

@CMPCKELLY Start out slow and increase in speed. If you are having trouble with a certain part, play an even smaller phrase of the lick over and over, then put it all together. If you play it over over, you should get faster and faster. Also, Play the lick over and over until you feel like you've played it to much, because sometimes if you play a lick over and over, you start to lose it, in my opinion. So once you are at that stage, don't play the lick until the next day. Repeat.
Very nice job!! It is wonderful that Joe is influencing so many guitarists -- young and old! Just watched this video, and plan on spending some time learning these licks! Thank you for taking the time to share!!
Joe sent me here too, but I'm not sure why. Good playing for such a young kid, but I think Joe played this well after about 6 months. Don't want to feed his ego though.
Wow thanks for this!!~I'm a novice player and I was inspired by your playing~I'm also a teacher and you did a very good job showing the licks!! I loved the pre-bend!.
You make it look so easy!! And also make me want to learn how to play electric!! ..Congrats for being such an accomplished guitarist at such a young age! Keep it up! Who knows, maybe you'll be the next Bonamassa!
I'm playing through a Jubilee (that was funny:), Don't worry dude, you sound great ;) Keep up the good playing and don't let anyone stop you either, your going to destroy someday! ~ Sean
Perfect! Please keep making all ur lessons just like this one. I hate sitting thru a 15 min lesson for a 3 sec lick! I may as well figure it out myself then. Thnx for saving me time and sparing me the aggravation:)
