  • Grande maestro!Su Bach es uno de los mejores...

  • What's the name of this composition?

  • MARAVILHOSO !!!

  • 31 pessoas pobres, de espirito e de alma....

  • I was in the halls 3 times to see segovia, Carnagie hall, Lincoln center, and a symposium at Brookhaven lab in NY.My Father was lucky enough to sit beside him for a "lesson"...I was in the hall, just completely in AWE.my father took me to these concerts as well as rampal, he impressed true quality of music on me very young.I went on to see johnny winter 80 times, Roy Buchanan 37 times{rip}....teach your children quality music , it will be in there souls forever

  • @ikoiko2631 I wish there were more open minded people like yourself out there. A closed mind is a sure sign of an empty head.I saw Segovia once at the Masonic hall in S.F. in 1983.

  • why are the classical guitar players always left out of the top 100 guitarists?? i mean they include MacLaughlin and Paco in the top 100. are they better or what???

  • @heavyrules6699 no one cares about classical music

  • @delameu 668 comments on this video and nearly 3/4 of a million views. Who cares right?

  • @TheTangoBeat did i strike a chord?

  • @lame no mate not really, it's just tasteless.

  • @heavyrules6699 Because the people who make the top 100 guitarist lists are elitist assholes. Hendrix is always number one, never mind Segovia, or other virtuosos like Alex Lifeson, John Petrucci, Jason Becker, or Joe Pass.

  • @sas

  • sinceramente chi ha messo non mi piace lo ha messo o perché il video è sgranato o perché non si intende di musica classica!!

  • @alexander93959 diciamo che non capisce nulla di musica vera e preferisce jovanotti ecco:)

  • @71lupenzo710 hai ragione

  • THE MASTER, SEGOVIA

  • J.S.B. himself....smiles when he hears this....

  • sheracad is so completely right. What a wonderful world it is, that we can switch on a website like this one and immediately are able to listen to such an incredible master of the guitar as is Segovia. And to feel accompanied by such phantastic listeners like NoFearOfGod, Pilotjavier, forgetfull40 and all the others! What a wonderful hour tonight.

  • HE WAS THE MASTER.

  • Can't decide whether or not I like the cadences in Gavotte 1

  • gahhh how can I get my guitar to make these beautiful sounds... Genius

  • Thank u for posting this....brilliant composition and of course amazing playing by The Master.

  • AMAZING SEGOVIA, MAY YOU RIP...BEAUTIFUL, AMAZING, NO OTHER LIKE YOU....THANK FOR MAKING THE CLASSICAL GUITAR A GREAT INSTRUMENT THAT REACHED THE UNIVERSITIES

  • 31 people have never obviously never really "listened" to the guitar.

  • @baadfish101 they could be the biggest bach fans and believe segovia isnt good enough to play it. i think if anyone can, its him

  • MY NEIGHBORS BETTER LIKE BACH

  • ahahah I spent 5 or 6 posts-zero results-to explain to an intellectual mind why Steve Vai is only a virtuoso and can't touch Hendrix or Zappa and now finally after all that bullshit

I return to maestro Segovia playing Bach' s cello suites.

    ty @ibela76

  • What is the title of this piece? If anyone has the sheet music for guitar, could they post a link? or if they don't, just the title would suffice, as I could research it myself, thanks! :)

  • @refinedfriend It's Gavottes 1 & 2 from Cello Suite no 6 by Bach. BWV 1012 if that helps.

  • COLONEL SANDERS ALMOST

  • The father of modern classical guitar..I love listening to Andres

  • @Flatted357 my dear idiot moron friend what progression are you talking about here ? you comparing hendrix to bach ? really ? is that what you're doing ? from one Bach's prelude you could make about 100 van stinkin halen songs you ignorant fool.

  • @Flatted357 Lmao. I-IV-V-I? In the key of E major, the chords would be E major, A major and B major. Unless you have found some new way to simplify the harmonic complexity of Bach to 3 chords, you should learn some more theory before you write. This is Segovia, well past his prime and even then, he's done more for the guitar than all of the aforementioned names combined. You should audition with some "Purple Haze" at Peabody Conservatory nah mean son?

  • What a beautiful dance he does in his mind leading up to transitions, pronouncing them, and bringing them to arrest throughout the timing.

  • His hand looks gigantic on the neck of that guitar; the hand of a god!

  • Does anyone have a clue where I can find a guitar tab of this piece in E, the way Segovia plays it? Everywhere I go, the only tabs I can find are in C.

  • And God said let there be good music through guitar for people to enjoy, and there was Segovia! .If you listen to the audio alone its difficult to believe that theres only one man playing.

  • The Greatest!!! Il Maestro!!!

  • i love this music but i wonder if the video of him playing asturias is the same as this one o

  • GENIUS PURE GENIUS

  • UN sonido Inconfundible!

  • ENCORE

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant!

  • Perfection with soul.

  • segovia never fails to amaze with his soulful playing

  • leggendario, epico, maestrale! tecnica, cuore e tanta passione insieme: Segovia è il risultato vivente! :')

  • I have the transcription for this in E by Andres Segovia but it starts with a bar at the 4th fret and just dosent seem to be as flowing as what the man plays here himself. And from this video he's not at the 4th fret as in the sheet. Has anyone any insite into this particular transcription that he's playing?

  • Imagine being THAT GOOD!!!! Sheesh!

  • 31 dislikes? you have to be kidding...31 frustrated classical guitarists who are crying mommy! sheeesh

  • No word can truly define this song. It is beyond comprehension.

  • Exelente duo Bach is great and Segovia lo toca baravillosamente bien

  • Bach is so good, ans Sgovia plays it the wonderfully. awesome!!! Just the mix of two very God blessed men of different times brought together by one's compostion. The guitar so small to the piano yet, Segovia makes it sound so big. good post.

  • @damanfrom808 Your so right on all your comments. One time after finishing my guitar lesson had the privledge of standing next to and hearing such beauty, classical guitarist playing Bach!!!

  • @toasts7 And also Bach was all about GOD. all of his work was for GOD"S Glory!!! That's why his work stands just like the Holy Bible..The grasses wither but GOD's word stands forever.

  • @toasts7 we are the flowers and grasses is what is given from God to plant us...

  • Excelente Ejecucion de este tema

  • 30 personas no saben que esto es verdadera musica / 30 persons don't know, this is really music

  • Would it be too late for me to become a classical guitarist? i already play electric guitar and lolly i can play hard death metal songs technical wise. and i know about emotion because of black metal lol. i just need to learn how to read notes, right hand finger technique and more about classical guitar it self...

o and if anyones interested in my oneman band project please do see it. /watch?v=Nh1V_PBjTss

  • @BMSiren yeah, you can, i started on steel string acoustic, then got an electric guitar, THEN i found a teacher for classical guitar (because its really hard to start classical on your own, you need a lot of discipline to read the technical aspects of it in the books) but the hardest part is definitely reading the notes, at least thats what i found.

  • @jdouglas9494 I can relate. I just started music composition in college at age 38. Learning to read music has been a muther fracker! But I had an epiphany after struggling with it for 2 and 1/2 years. A trick that I learned that has greatly helped me is to read the interval distance from the root note, NOT the note itself. So if Im playing in the key of E, I find all of my "E"s on the staff, then all of the other notes are some interval distance from E. I hope this helps, PEACE!

  • Aleluia!!!!

  • D'oh!! He messed it up at the very end! Poor Andres! I'll bet he was pissed about that. Who know...maybe he didn't hear it.

  • Rest in the knowledge that Segovia is the master, and the dislike votes come from nothing more than contrarians doing what they do best. The best thing to do is to ignore them.

  • Gracias tecnologia por permitirme ver a este inigualable ser humano y prodigio de la guitarra.

  • What you are seeing is the Newton of the guitar. A man who invented a new way to play and rewrote the book on what was humanly possible, a man who saw so far into music and his instrument that it took decades for the rest of the world to catch up. Most of this music was written for other instruments and it was Segovia who created a method to play it on Guitar and all the subsequent transcriptions, tecniques, scales and timings to make it sound correct.

  • @NoFearOfGod --- I was fortunate enough to see & hear him perform 3 different time when I went to Kent State University ! There aren't really any words that I can think of to give justice to those opportunities I had except to thank God for allowing me to have been born when I was & to be WHERE I was when he played ! I used to watch his " Master's Class " on PBS on a old 19" black & white TV in my parents basement, but I had hooked it up to our old MONSTER-piece-of-furniture stereo in the 60's !

  • @NoFearOfGod Segovia was not the first great guitarist, there were many others before him with such skill. he is credited with bringing the classical guitar to the big stage.

  • This world ain't so bad when an old tubby guy can produce beautiful sounds like this. Class.

  • He was so good, such a sweet touch on the strings!! Love it!!

  • great segovia and great bach.

i love so much this video.

  • wow, se zarpa el viejo

  • Yeah, but who put the ram in the rama-lama-ding-dong?

  • I worked hard today (like most days). My wife made great enchiladas. We drank wine.

    She watches Top Chef.

    I escape to THIS!

After a day of faxes, meetings, traffic, bills, and souless interaction with anyone, I can get CENTERD with Bach and Segovia.

    Thank you for posting this...

  • @sheracad is she hot?

  • @sheracad You mean to say that Lady Gaga doesn't center you as well? What's wrong with you! lol

  • @sheracad tell me about it

  • @sheracad It strikes you may need a new wife...?

  • призвание, что скажешь. да, нейлон.

  • я так не могу( Поэтому это совершенство для меня:) Плюсуйте кто солидарен со мной. Только не пойму, это нейлон же?

  • @teledude1

What do you know about midrange, TELEdude1? I'm guessing you're a tele player, so go beat off to your ear-liquefying treble while I listen to some beautiful "midrangey" Segovia

  • this song proofs that european are the most powerful culture in the world

  • Andres Segovia. Playing Bach. I can now die happily. :-)

  • esa canción me transporta al quid de la cuestión, a la quintaesencia vital, al elán, al macrocosmos, al absoluto.

  • Surely, Old age and spirit is wisdom and understanding

  • why can't people dislike something?? what's the freakin big deal? Just give people space to breathe and make a choice on what they want to listen to. That's why we have freedom of speech here. They're not harming anyone by not liking a piece of music. It's when they get berated for trying new music and forming an opinion that doesn't make any sense.

  • Someone may 'dislike' it simply because the music does not turn them on. They may have no clue about guitar playing skill. They just are not turned on by classical guitar and that's their right. I don't think that anyone can argue with his skill level on the guitar,he is widely recognized as a music legend. However, that doesn't mean everyone has to listen to his music 24 hrs per day either. Have you ever heard the saying, "no one size fits all"? Music listening is totally subjective.

  • your not great till you can do symphony on guitar like andre

  • 30 people are.... idiots

  • Slash is better.

    *trollface*

  • @GTAMyths1

slash is not a classical guitarist ... he is playing something Different

  • @AhmedKibsi u mad bro?

  • @GTAMyths1 i like slash but his skill is laughable compared to segovia's haha

  • @xmanwomanx I agree, I was seeing what reactions I'd get :P

  • He must have slept with his guitar!

  • i love this song. what song?

  • i love this song. what song?

  • It's like Heaven.

  • Who know the Colonel could play guitar so well?

  • and THIS is why i love being spanish:)

  • @OMate89

    close.

  • Meraviglia, meraviglia, meraviglia!!!!!

  • 30 people have lost their mind.

  • i cant watch segovia anymore his talent frustrates me !!!!badly,,,,!!!!

  • I'm thinking back when I was a child taking guitar and he would come on The Ed Sullivan Show. Three times my mother woke me up to see him play. She never did that for any other musician? And I would sit there watching a monaural, black & white TV, aghast in the perfection of his talent.

  • those dislike this is just because dont want to feel the breath of existence...

  • Does anybody have the Segovia recording of the Courante from this suite, BWV 996? It does not seem to be available anymore. Segovia's recording of the e min suite's Courante is the only one I've heard that is at the right tempo. I will explain why if somebody can post it !

  • sooooooo gooood

  • is he playing at the great mosque of Cordova? Just curious...

  • Is this the music in Sid Meier's Pirates! ?

  • @sandokas lol, i own that game.

  • i love him

  • This man has a magic in the hands

  • Been ages since I last listened to these kind of birds at 4:23. Deligthful end this video has... =)

    Nostalgia.

  • why does everyone always focus on the dislikes? just be glad most of humanity likes it..

  • @earcandy1231 Their poor minds only can understand some emocore easy riffs... sad, but true.

  • @earcandy1231, I dislike the dislikes!

  • @earcandy1231 I think all those stupid brainless comments would disappear if Youtube would hide the number of dislikes and only keep the ratings bar to show the ratio of likes and dislikes. Even better but more drastic would be to add an optional hide button for all comment sections. It would discourage people from copying things from other videos just to get attention they should be searching for in real life. People might even be able to concentrate on the videos again.

    Great video, thank you

  • touches the soul

  • What a beautiful song, I almost go the tears, I can not stop listening, fresh air into my life, Andrès Segovia thanks for letting us hear this song played in your own hand.

  • @JEREACUNA hear it again and it was as if for the first time I heard, I'm excited ...

  • Absolutely beautiful!

  • 5 stars

  • This video has probably never been disliked, this video was uploaded in '07, which means it spend a good couple of years under the star system, so if anyone voted it 4 stars or under at all during that period it got added to the calculated average of something probably like 4.8/4.9 stars, which got transferred over to a ratio of like:dislike leaving many thousand "likes" and a few dislikes".

This may sound overthought and sad, it's just I'm really sick of "x people missed the like button" posts

  • I like his sound, and guitar; he just makes it singing or whistle ! He had an original approach to the work of Bach the first and only ''Segovia'' odds sound !

  • OK quiero esa guitarra xD.

  • Incredible

  • i love it

  • Fantastic. I had the privilege of attending one of his performances many years ago. Thank you for posting this. I enjoy the recordings but it's nice to have a visual.

  • Search on youtube Michael angelo batio double guitar solo and let's start cry Segovia

  • @5stagionestefano how about we all learn English

  • @5stagionestefano the classical folks prolly wont like Batio since he plays the electric LOL

  • @z28misfit batio is talented, but hes a metal guitarist, not a classical musician

  • @markus0neill

Only guitarists like Batio's music, when everybody likes Segovia's music.

  • This is from the same video as one of his performances of Asturias. Is there DVD/VHS/Whatever of this?

  • this could be the music of God played by one of His blessed sons

  • no existe otra persona en este planeta que toque de esa forma...........por algo segovia con todo y su ego grande........grande maestro ...........algún dia tocaré como usted......!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • grande andres!!

  • WHY?WHY? WHY WOULD ANYONE DISLIKE THIS!!

  • @DaMetalBeast - Not sure how anyone could dislike this...there are strange people in this world.

  • @DaMetalBeast because stupidity is the major ingredient of Earth's atmosphere.

  • @0live0wire0

its not right to blame all of earth because of a few undeveloped apples.

i wouldn't doubt it if most were accidental. btw this man was truly blessed.

  • @DaMetalBeast Too many (30 ) deaf people....that's why..You should have hearing problems if you, at any time dislike that

  • @DaMetalBeast Maybe because the dislike button are so close to the another, or maybe, when i was young i listened to segovia, and to be honest, at that time i couldn't understand his music, maybe for many person is not dificult to understand, is beautifull and you just need to hear it to know what wonderful that can be, but for another maybe is not so easy, thank of God now i can listen and say Beautiful!

  • @DaMetalBeast Tone variation, tempo, audio quality, harmonic control, preferential reasoning, etc.

  • @DaMetalBeast Because everyone has different tastes!

  • @DaMetalBeast after hearing the music people use to get shivery and might miss the Like button :)

  • @DaMetalBeast Because theyre not beastly enough to play this x)

  • @DaMetalBeast

Same reason this only has 538k views and any Justin Bieber song has over 100 million views

  • @DaMetalBeast Because they're idiots.

  • @DaMetalBeast You could post a video of a naked drunk hobbit riding a flying unicorn and some idiots would still dislike it

  • @DaMetalBeast cause they're related to rebecca black

  • @DaMetalBeast JUAAY?!

  • @DaMetalBeast their ears are out of tune.

  • @DaMetalBeast maybe because they expected dolby soround and hd 1080p quality..or maybe because they dont understand this is the guy who made guitar mostly popular.

  • @DaMetalBeast ignorance my friend, ignorance

  • @DaMetalBeast

It's like asking why is there evil in this world. Some people just are.

  • @DaMetalBeast 30 Muslim terrorists with explosive vests disliked this video. They also disliked Jody Foster in FREAKY FRIDAY.

  • bream,barrueco,,mikulka...ok

    segovia is segovia

  • Type PRIZE before youtube and hit enter

  • I have played guitar for years - mostly electric and accoustic. Took some classical guitar lessons - it is the HARDEST form of guitar to master - the finger picking is a real challenge. Segovia is a MASTER and a Genius.

  • @socalsun7 i think finger picking is easier than learning the quick chord changes and difficult chord shapes in classical

  • 29 people accidentally clicked "dislike". They must have problems with their computers.

  • il musicista di Dio

  • perfecto! really touched my heart! segovia is such an underrated guitarist! Im a big rock fan and usually listen to english and american music. but i wish that then people make best guitarist lists they wouldnt just include british/american rock guitarists.
