"Note about Antarctica/Eight Below: In real life, and in the original film Antarctica, 16 dogs were left alone on Antarctica. By the time humans returned for them only 2 were alive. In Eight Below (the remake) only 8 dogs were left alone and only 2 died."
If what you said is true which it is not, then how were they able to film the movie? See the dogs were not left alone, although they are based on true stories in the movies the dogs were not left to die.
Dogs are so much better than people - and the fuc&*ing NFL wonders why no one will forgive "poor Michael Vick" That's up to God and the hundreds of dogs he mutilated for sport, don't look to me. Sometimes I surprise myself by thinking of what I hope happens to him. Ending up a quadriplegic from football wouldn't be nearly enough.
I always cry whenever i watch 8 below and the old dog gets left. And then when the guy returns and he pulls up the chain and the only one that didnt lift up was the old dog :( poor guy,
You could have also thrown in The Body Snatcher from 1945 based off one of Robert Louis Stevenson's stories based on a real case. Boris Karloff plays a grave robber/killer who provides bodies for a medical school and one of the bodies he brings was watched over by the person's little dog. When Karloff's character approaches the little dog starts growling and barking and we see Karloff's shadow raise his shovel and bring it down. It's not quite as tragic as these, but it's still gets a reaction.
@unlikeanyotherhuman haha i got tons of class. ya, clearly you're infactuated with dogs. any idiot can tell that after the ridiculous comment you posted. i just find it funny how you love dogs more than humans, hence the beastiality joke. i know as much about life as i need to at this age lmao
@unlikeanyotherhuman haha why are you so offended by that comment, which was obviously a joke? and a 47 year old telling an 18 yr old to drop dead over something like that? real classy pal. Im from NorthBay, im attending college in Ottawa. Back home my family breads/sells labradors. so why dont you get off my case and learn to take a fucking joke.
PS look at your original comment on this video. "I LOVE DOGS", "No human ive met comes close" i mean come on now, seriously? hahaha
Does anyone know the name of a film about a dog dieing, were he gets the dog when hes young then when he gets older he goes to college and moves away and dog is heartbroken and it dies while hes away and he comes back to no dog. coz i watched it as a kid once and im trying to find it again :)
ooooooooooh this brings on back memoreys i cryed so hard on all these movies it always took me like two weeks to get over it i lov where the red furn grows and old yeller the best
@OrcaLove13 The English title is "The Dog Who Stopped the War." It was originally French-Canadian. I think I only saw the end on the Disney Channel, but thought how depressing it was.
red fern was SO sad. my class read the book and i was crying then. then we saw the movie and that made me cry to then we watched red fern 2 billy is grown up and stuff and he gets similar dogs and he names them old dan and little ann but then old dan dies and he gives ann to a friend. but they weren't as n'sync as the first ones,
omg you forgot to mention Hachiko; story of a dog. It's one of the most saddest dog movies I've ever seen. Also, I remember reading the book 'where the red fern grows' a while back and bawling my eyes out. I had no idea they made a movie about it!
The first movie I ever saw where the dog dies was Old Yeller. When I first saw I started bawling and I told my mom the guy who made this moive should have been fired. XD I'm older now but every time I watch Old Yeller I have to fastfoward the part where he dies...it makes me cry lol
fabb!! i saw this movie last night very idiotic but at the same time creepy but it got better at? the end .. anywayz this site offers the whole movie at MOVIEPRINCESS[DOT]com
@unlikeanyotherhuman I absolutely agree, dogs are the best animal. Their unique combination of loyalty, intelligence, sweetness, and playfulness can't be found anywhere else.
i hate movies where they make the dogs die. know what happens in old yeller and where the red fern grows and ive seen eight below. thank you for making this so i know not to see any of those movies because the dogs die it just makes me soo sad : '(
Disney sure has a lot of dog movies and all of them which feature hyskies, are live- action. I suspected that wasn't a real wolf in "Air Buddies" and I was right. it was a wolfdog. I wondered why it had such a dogish muzzle
That movie is called "Napoleon" (1995), about a Golden Retriever puppy. You can get it on DVD from Amazon(dot)com for $9.99. Hope you get to see it again!
does anyone know the name of that sad racing dog film i think its a irish or scottish one and the guy kills the dog at the end and the kid gets a gun and nearly shoots the man that killed his dog wats the name of that film i forgot i wanna watch it it again it sad anyone know the name of it?
Ugh... I've had to pause this thing soooo many times... It makes me want to cry... I haven't seen some of these but they look sooo very depressing. The song doesn't help things feel any better but it definately fits the mood. It kinda makes things more sad though... *sniff*
I cry when I see any act of loyalty in a movie by a dog, they don't even have to die! xD And I cry on 'My Dog Skip' from the time the movie starts until it ends...I'm very passionate about Dogs and what they mean/do to/for people.
I love Old Dan and Little Ann, they are my favorite movie dogs...Old Yeller gets a spot too (that dog actually tore up some skin for his people, unlike some other Cinema Dogs).
Hi loved the vid iv got to say that i think fluke is the most upsetting dog film iv seen then probs lassie but i never saw the others but great vid anywhere. I luv how much you luv dogs as well Im one huge all animal lover
i love where the red fern grows. it made me cry. good thing that was a movie. old dan died cause a mountain lion. and little an died cause she was heartbroken that dan died
OMG I just found this, I lost my GSD cross 3 weeks ago tomorrow, he was 15 and a half years old and I'd had him since a pup :o(, I love him soo much still and forever in my heart he stays. This video is great, all the films I love and the song says all the things I feel, thanks
whats the name of the movie where the father son and his dog are on the boat, and something happens and the son and dog are in the woods for a long period of time and the dog saves him and dies i think or something
Aaw, that is soo sad. I remember reading "where the red fern grows" for the first time in 6th grade, and i cried my eyes out. to this day that is still one of my favorite books. dogs are the most loyal of all animals. i believe anyone who hurts animals should be killed!
Thnks this vid brought tears to my eyes. My German Shepard- Rottweiler named Torrie was killed by a car. Even worse because my parents are divorced and my mom had me when it happened. If she didn't, Torrie would still be alive right now.
dont laugh.. that scene in I Am Legend is seriously eyewatering!! i had a german shepherd before.. looked just like it. that is so sad. and Will Smith as always nails the moment superb!

omg...what a sad video.... yeah actually I think it was 15 dogs on the real 8 below. From what I understand 7 dogs never ripped there chains, 6 were lost at sea and only two survived, Taro and Jiro.
who can make a movie where a(n) innocent dog(s) and a friendship die? movies are supposed to be entertaining, and if you think dogs dying is entertaining, your a sick freak
Beautiful movie my friend! The greatest movies and books of all time. Where the red fern grows and Old yeller! Been a long time brought some tears to my eyes. Great job brother.
Antarctica is much better! It's very true to the real story. (True to the time and country the team was really from, same breed of dog that where really there, same names, same survival ratio, much more realistic in general, etc.)
Eight Below is an okay stand alone movie with wonderfully trained dogs, but when compared to the real events, and to Antarctica, it's pretty bad.
Getting a copy of Antarctica can be a challenge. It has never been commercially released on DVD in the US or UK. If you go to VHS at Amazon and put in the title it's the first one that comes up. But it looks like you're in the UK: There are a few DVDs now on ebay(dot)co(dot)uk but they are region 3. There's a region 1 DVD from a US eBay seller (jpdramaetc). -More in next comment:
You can get an all region DVD (supposedly?) on classicplanetdvd(dot)com and hkdvdstore(dot)com. They had a less edited one but they've been out of stock. Hope they get them back, I'd like one. As far as I can tell it has never been released in a region 2 DVD or a PAL VHS. If you can't find it with "Antarctica" try "Nankyoku Monogatari" That's the original Japanese title.
Hope you get a copy:-) It's well worth the search and trouble it is to find it!
The Dog Who Stopped the War, a French Canadian film from 1984. The English version is dubbed (and not very well). Other than the bad dubbing it's really a great 80s movie. Cleo, the dog, is a secondary character who ends up being very important to the story. You can get it on Amazon(dot)com for $7.98 on DVD!
"Note about Antarctica/Eight Below: In real life, and in the original film Antarctica, 16 dogs were left alone on Antarctica. By the time humans returned for them only 2 were alive. In Eight Below (the remake) only 8 dogs were left alone and only 2 died."

Damn, I haven't seen any of these films and I'm tearing up. I really love huskies: which film is better (Eight Below, Antarctica)?
TheMissSchillinger 3 years ago
Antarctica is much better! It's very true to the real story. (True to the time and country the team was really from, same breed of dog that where really there, same names, same survival ratio, much more realistic in general, etc.)
Eight Below is an okay stand alone movie with wonderfully trained dogs, but when compared to the real events, and to Antarctica, it's pretty bad.
Thanks for commenting!

I can't find Antarctica on Amazon -- it just keeps showing me penguins. Where can I find it?
TheMissSchillinger 3 years ago

Hope you get a copy:-) It's well worth the search and trouble it is to find it!

which film has the st bernard in??
gemzy285 3 years ago
The Dog Who Stopped the War, a French Canadian film from 1984. The English version is dubbed (and not very well). Other than the bad dubbing it's really a great 80s movie. Cleo, the dog, is a secondary character who ends up being very important to the story. You can get it on Amazon(dot)com for $7.98 on DVD!
ReelDogs 3 years ago
You can also get the DVD from Amazon(dot)co(dot)uk for really cheap.
