  • "Note about Antarctica/Eight Below: In real life, and in the original film Antarctica, 16 dogs were left alone on Antarctica. By the time humans returned for them only 2 were alive. In Eight Below (the remake) only 8 dogs were left alone and only 2 died."

If what you said is true which it is not, then how were they able to film the movie? See the dogs were not left alone, although they are based on true stories in the movies the dogs were not left to die.

  • i was playing "to be by your side" wilest waching this it gose so well AND I LOVE THIS SO MUCH

  • IT WAS BEAUTIFUL :'(

  • I seen fluke! my al time favorite movie since i was a little kid.. sad though..

  • Eight Below= saddest movie ever :(

  • @TheCelticTiger32 I thought Hachi was as sad as Eight Below. I was crying through half of the movie.

  • Dogs are so much better than people - and the fuc&*ing NFL wonders why no one will forgive "poor Michael Vick" That's up to God and the hundreds of dogs he mutilated for sport, don't look to me. Sometimes I surprise myself by thinking of what I hope happens to him. Ending up a quadriplegic from football wouldn't be nearly enough.

  • I have seen all of these movies. :(

  • Cats are way better than dogs

  • I don't like it when dogs die in movies.

Except Cujo, that dog really deserved to die.

  • You forgot "Cujo".

  • ugggg my dog died last week

  • i remember a movie which is in japanese about a golden retriever and i heard its really sad but i hav no idea wats the name somebody help plz

  • lol, you forgot about the dog in "I am Legend"

  • I always cry whenever i watch 8 below and the old dog gets left. And then when the guy returns and he pulls up the chain and the only one that didnt lift up was the old dog :( poor guy,

  • Its never easy losing "your best friend" Please enjoy DOG SONG 2 Better with you There also right here on youtube ( git yer hanky out )

  • You could have also thrown in The Body Snatcher from 1945 based off one of Robert Louis Stevenson's stories based on a real case. Boris Karloff plays a grave robber/killer who provides bodies for a medical school and one of the bodies he brings was watched over by the person's little dog. When Karloff's character approaches the little dog starts growling and barking and we see Karloff's shadow raise his shovel and bring it down. It's not quite as tragic as these, but it's still gets a reaction.

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman haha i got tons of class. ya, clearly you're infactuated with dogs. any idiot can tell that after the ridiculous comment you posted. i just find it funny how you love dogs more than humans, hence the beastiality joke. i know as much about life as i need to at this age lmao

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman haha why are you so offended by that comment, which was obviously a joke? and a 47 year old telling an 18 yr old to drop dead over something like that? real classy pal. Im from NorthBay, im attending college in Ottawa. Back home my family breads/sells labradors. so why dont you get off my case and learn to take a fucking joke.

PS look at your original comment on this video. "I LOVE DOGS", "No human ive met comes close" i mean come on now, seriously? hahaha

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman wow, way to over do that hahah does this mean you're into beastiality with dogs? o_O

  • old yeller was the saddest. most epic movie dog ever. fought a bear, boars,an angry cow and a wolf. R.I.P.

  • OMG Whats the movie with the Saint Bernard? Please reply

  • @OrcaLove13 The English title is "The Dog Who Stopped the War." It was originally French-Canadian. I think I only saw the end on the Disney Channel, but thought how depressing it was.

  • omg you forgot to mention Hachiko; story of a dog. It's one of the most saddest dog movies I've ever seen. Also, I remember reading the book 'where the red fern grows' a while back and bawling my eyes out. I had no idea they made a movie about it!

  • I just watched old yeller and its my first time the one where he dies was sad

  • im reading this book it is absolutley good!! not kidding!

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman I absolutely agree, dogs are the best animal. Their unique combination of loyalty, intelligence, sweetness, and playfulness can't be found anywhere else.

  • whats the movie with the dog and that girl that is in your video i watched it when i was little but i forget the name anyone know it ??

  • Disney sure has a lot of dog movies and all of them which feature hyskies, are live- action. I suspected that wasn't a real wolf in "Air Buddies" and I was right. it was a wolfdog. I wondered why it had such a dogish muzzle

  • i like it better with sound!but otherwise it's a good vid!

  • i'm 20 and i still cry watching Old Yeller. i love that movie because it showed the love of a boy and his dog.

  • I think fair use laws are not being "fair". Youtube is so strict. I loved the music before they took it off.

  • what about marley and me?

  • i cant remenber a name from a movie, wich the dog get into an balloon in a party a goes away :(

i used to watch this movie a lot when i was a kid :p, and now im trying to find it tom my little brother

i can't EVER read the last two chapters without breaking down and crying.

  • Ugh... I've had to pause this thing soooo many times... It makes me want to cry... I haven't seen some of these but they look sooo very depressing. The song doesn't help things feel any better but it definately fits the mood. It kinda makes things more sad though... *sniff*

  • dogs are so much better than cats

  • I cry when I see any act of loyalty in a movie by a dog, they don't even have to die! xD And I cry on 'My Dog Skip' from the time the movie starts until it ends...I'm very passionate about Dogs and what they mean/do to/for people.

I love Old Dan and Little Ann, they are my favorite movie dogs...Old Yeller gets a spot too (that dog actually tore up some skin for his people, unlike some other Cinema Dogs).

    Wonderful Video. ^^

  • Omg, this is sooo sad =((

I hate when poor animals die ... and it's horrible when people just don't care:(

    U've done a great job ... it's such a nice video ... i'm really crying :((

  • Actually, in the original book Old Yeller, the dog was a Mountain Cur. In the movie, he was played by a Labrador/Mastiff cross.

  • Aww! I haven't heard this song in so long! It's so pretty! And such a sad yet, sweet video. Good job!

  • aww dogs are true friends!

  • Thnks this vid brought tears to my eyes. My German Shepard- Rottweiler named Torrie was killed by a car. Even worse because my parents are divorced and my mom had me when it happened. If she didn't, Torrie would still be alive right now.

  • I'm sorry about your dog.=(

  • you missed I Am Legend haha

  • dont laugh.. that scene in I Am Legend is seriously eyewatering!! i had a german shepherd before.. looked just like it. that is so sad. and Will Smith as always nails the moment superb!

  • that was really sad when Sam died in I am Legend.

  • @negyms I cried during that scene. Sam was a heroic dog in that movie, and the doctor's only friend.

  • I made this before I Am Legend was released.

  • Made me cry

  • dear god! im such a dog person...the tears came in like 30 seconds of this. I miss my two dogs that we had to put down due to brain tumors

  • wow i have tears in my eyes just thinking about the saddest part in these movies....when its time to say goodbye....

  • It's so sad cuz it reminds me of my dog kesha. She died cuz have of her brain went dead so we had to put her down.

  • Had me sobbing and hugging my dogs.

  • omg...what a sad video.... yeah actually I think it was 15 dogs on the real 8 below. From what I understand 7 dogs never ripped there chains, 6 were lost at sea and only two survived, Taro and Jiro.

  • who can make a movie where a(n) innocent dog(s) and a friendship die? movies are supposed to be entertaining, and if you think dogs dying is entertaining, your a sick freak

  • sorry... almost?

  • isn't it that wilson rawls is the only author of old yeller and where the red fern grows?i don't know about the other one..

    u have done a great job @ d vid!keep it up!

  • Thank you. Wilson Rawls wrote Where the Red Fern Grows. Fred Gipson wrote Old Yeller.

  • Damn, I haven't seen any of these films and I'm tearing up. I really love huskies: which film is better (Eight Below, Antarctica)?

  • Antarctica is much better! It's very true to the real story. (True to the time and country the team was really from, same breed of dog that where really there, same names, same survival ratio, much more realistic in general, etc.)

Eight Below is an okay stand alone movie with wonderfully trained dogs, but when compared to the real events, and to Antarctica, it's pretty bad.

    Thanks for commenting!

  • I can't find Antarctica on Amazon -- it just keeps showing me penguins. Where can I find it?

  • Getting a copy of Antarctica can be a challenge. It has never been commercially released on DVD in the US or UK. If you go to VHS at Amazon and put in the title it's the first one that comes up. But it looks like you're in the UK: There are a few DVDs now on ebay(dot)co(dot)uk but they are region 3. There's a region 1 DVD from a US eBay seller (jpdramaetc). -More in next comment:

  • You can get an all region DVD (supposedly?) on classicplanetdvd(dot)com and hkdvdstore(dot)com. They had a less edited one but they've been out of stock. Hope they get them back, I'd like one. As far as I can tell it has never been released in a region 2 DVD or a PAL VHS. If you can't find it with "Antarctica" try "Nankyoku Monogatari" That's the original Japanese title.

Hope you get a copy:-) It's well worth the search and trouble it is to find it!

  • omg! one chorus in my school sang this song!

    nice vid!

  • My puppy died.... I miss him very much and this song reminds me so much of him!

  • I love this video!Very sad movie! I have a very sick puppy right now, so this video really made me cry! You did a excellent job!

  • You did a good thing making this video. You get all the stars.

  • how come there are not any movies about dead puppets?

  • who die in 8 below

  • two or three dogs i believe.. the oldest one,who nevere gets of the damn chain!:( and one of the malamutes.

  • which film has the st bernard in??

  • The Dog Who Stopped the War, a French Canadian film from 1984. The English version is dubbed (and not very well). Other than the bad dubbing it's really a great 80s movie. Cleo, the dog, is a secondary character who ends up being very important to the story. You can get it on Amazon(dot)com for $7.98 on DVD!

  • You can also get the DVD from Amazon(dot)co(dot)uk for really cheap.

  • i'v
