is Backtrack safe? though he is a simple unbuntu 10.4 with kernel 2.6, I have my doubts with relation to it. your kernel is modified to have better security?
@scottledeuce Are you using the Alfa AWUS036H? This only applies to that wireless card and it must be connected before doing anything in the video. Nothing has changed, it works just fine.
@blazarify OpenBSD is quite possibly the most secure operating system on the planet. It offers memory protection, openssh, cryptography, firewall integration, and encryption. From looking at OpenBSD, I believe it was built to be secure as default. You don't have many services running in the background either. So I would definitely check it out if you haven't. I am glad you brought that up, I may put a video talking about it and its features.
and realized that there are several comments on the Internet saying that ArchLinux is not very secure, because a team is not isolated to worry about it!
archlinux not give much importance to safety, he seems to be fast, but not safe!
want you to tell me which distro safest of all, it is less vulnerable and provides holes maintain through patch updates soon.
@blazarify I wouldn't be so sure. Arch Linux is always using the latest packages and kernel. Arch Linux lets you use nightly builds which makes it the coolest Linux distro to use if you want the cutting edge in Linux. Why would it be insecure? It just doesn't make any sense to me..but if you do find any forums or posting regarding to Arch Linux being insecure, please send it to my inbox. Thanks.
@blazarify Sure can! Chakra is a prebuilt Arch Linux system with KDE. I would also check out ArchPwn. Its Arch Linux with penetration testing tools. ;-)
what you tell me Fedora, Mandriva and Ubuntu? They have the same level of security, or Fedora is less vulnerable than Ubuntu and Mandriva? I am wanting to start using linux and I'm behind a pretty secure distro. I'll just be surfing the internet and not will use my pc for gaming or anything like that, just simple things like listening to music, surfing the internet, watching videos, but all that I want to run very safely.
@blazarify Anything that is always up to date would be your most secure system. Using the unstable versions would put you ahead of the others and not worry about exploits or any vulnerabilities that may be in them. Arch Linux is always on top of things, its always updated to the latest version, kernel, and software packages. Debian is just as good, it offers unstable versions and thats what makes Debian very special.
Just found about your page and I'm glad I did. This was an excellent video. I had this problem in BT4 and couldn't fix it. Big thumbs up to you and all your great videos....I'm subscribing!!!
@blazarify There is no such thing as the most secure system, we all know that..but if I had to suggest a Linux distro. I would recommend Debian sid, which is the version with unstable repositories. And another I'd recommend is Arch Linux, its pretty advanced to some people, but offers the latest cutting edge for software packages.
@H4x0r18 and about backtrack? I actually tried to backtrack vs. nessus and nessus not find any vulnerability. In ubuntu nessus found a medium risk on port 5353. I think BT is safer than the ones you mentioned.
How do you connect to a wireless network with BT5 R1?
Can you try if SecureCRT would work on BT5 R1?
I'm on Fedora 16 right now, but planning to switch to BT5 R1. I am still a Linux noob, I just don't have time to dedicate my self to learn something new.
@Waranle I decided I wouldn't make a twitter, Facebook, or Google+ account unless I have more than 5,000 subscribers. It requires a lot of work keeping up with all the accounts, youtube, and a blog.

I'm doing this in backtrack 5r1 and there is no folder called "wireless" in the drivers folder.
Do you know has this changed?
