He returned home and killed his father so he could rule the land. If you play Warcraft III Reign of Chaos/Frozen Throne you know it all =).
@Wintzero Actually he didnt kill Mal'Ganis, He is Disguised as A Scarlet Onslaught Grand Admiral. You try and kill him but he teleports away...He wants to kill Arthas for something...Not sure why. But Frostmourne did drive him mad, He did kill his father so he can destroy the land and rise the corpses. Then the undead broke out of his grip. Then he threw away his heart (After the battle with Illidan Stormrage) because it made him weak...then he became part of the Lich King.
@Ledenzel - You are right, he is disguised as "Barean Westwind" - who you then defeat in Icecrown as a quest from the Ebon Blade and he then Flee's back to his homeworld and plots revenge against the Lich King. So I expect to be seeing him in some upcoming expansions :)
@elderharvey It's not currently possible to get the Ashbringer. You used to be able to recieve the corrupted version as a rare drop from Alexandros Mograine, one of the Four Horsemen in Classic Naxxramas. Now though, it is currently impossible to get.

Yes. It did happen. It was a special event. Lots of fun, too. I play Horde, and Org got attacked over by the battlemasters. Everyone was making a big fuss because Sylvannas was running around there, too. Those people obviously don't get to see many girls... so a female npc with a new skin is apparently a big deal. weirdos.

cuz the horde only have "struggle to survive" stories, while the alliance got all the corruption, conspiracies (sorry my bad english) and everything that make you wannaexplore the alliance lore. must admitt hto, that thrall's story is cool, but i preffer alliance story. the alliance is the "play and enjoy" faction, while the horde is more a "WIN WIN WIN!" faction.

i think i remember that day but um it wasn't all to fun for me because i was probably lvl 42 but now i'm on my dk 64 and i like it except the 42 is now 60 and a paladin

I was there that day, with the Frost Wyrms and the Abominations killing everything, My realm ALSO had a horde raid attack coming and there was fighting everywhere, Was fun to watch everyone fighting and it was an epic day in WoW.

i know there is a bomb ass quest for the horde. "the battle for undercity" massive siege of undercity to reclame it back to syrvanas. there is a video "wrath gate" somthing like that thats the end of the quest.
