I just started my YT chan and came across you here just now. I want to let you know how much I appreciate the things you talked about on this video. These are the things my clients have been telling me that they've been experiencing prior to switching over to my salon while expressing gratitude for the attention that they get for years to come. I've attached a vid response as an example. Thanks again for getting these ideas out there. I've become a fast subby of yours. :)
at the salon we always make sure that there's enough stylists on staff so that our customers don't have to wait which would keep them coming back because they can just walk in on their time and be taken right away, that doesn't mean that they're available because they suck. In the end it's the stylist that matters.
I do NOT agree that a good haircut has to be $30 dollars or more...... I've worked at a salon that has charged $40 bucks for a cut and now I am working at a salon that charges $16. We also take WALK INS..... sometimes it's just more flexible for people who people who dont know when theyll have the time....
I so second what you said... my hair is so important to me! The way your hair looks defines you whole look, so it's really vital to care for it! Thanks for the video <3
best way to find a good stylist is by word of mouth. the $ spent does not determine the outcome (but i would hope for $100 or more it would be more than perfect!) walk-in salons are convenient for people who are bad at remembering appointments, and just want to get their haircut without the extras (shampooing, styling, etc..) not everybody has time to be in the chair for even an hour and although Supercuts cutting techniques are efficient, they are by no means sloppy. again, its the stylist :)
when i was 17 i got the layers look for the first time. California cuts. well Friends was really big then and i wanted Monica style hair. this hair dresser had no idea what i was talking about and i found a pic in a magazine, she worked off that, and i left with a upside down Aztec pyramid on my head. ={ it was so horrible i had to pay 55$ to get it fixed. but that stylist that fixed it was a god send. Agreed don't Skimp!! and do Tip the ones you love.
I'M a good stylist and starting out at Fantastic Samz.... there is nothing wrong with Fantastic Samz cuz their is shitty hair stylist every where!!! :)

yeah i used to go to those cheap places. the first time they cut my hair unevenly. the last time my hair broke off at the root. so bad i know, never going there again!
My mom gets $10 haircuts regularly and everyone LOVES her hair. They think she goes to an expensive salon and uses the most expensive products. She just uses Suave. She has such thick, silky straight beautiful hair that is impossible to look bad.
Me on the other hand...I am cursed to where I HAVE to spend money to have my hair look good. A $10 haircut will leave me with a look that would be as attractive as a mullet or chili-bowl haircut would be! I am just not as fortunate.
I have a great stylist that happens to work at Fantastic Sams. My DD, my grandmother and my best friend goes to her and she has given me the best style and cut of my life (and I am in my 30s).
Also I wouldn't say that in general places like Supercuts or Fantastic Sams just give you 1-2 layers and send you on your way or chop your hair off. It depends a lot on the stylist you get. I have gone to places and paid $50 for a cut and they did an awful job,
You have to find a stylist you trust, and that can be anywhere. Just because they charge a lot of money or you have to wait a long time for an appointment does not necessarily mean they are a good stylist OR the right stylist for you
this lady cut my sisters hair really short when my sister ask for a trim. the lady cut like 5 inches of and my sister cried for and hour cause she use to have realy cute hair but now she has almost no hair.
i got my hair cut saturday and i took in the picture i wanted my hair like and my hair stylist look ad the picture and she did such a great job a love he way she did it
thank you so much this was so much help! im in high school & my mom is exactly like yours so now that christmas passed i finally have money & i can finally cut off my SUPER long hair because i have had long hair for my entire life [im 15] and im so sick of it buy my mom said she wont pay for the haircut i want so now i have money & i can pay for it ! yay thank you soooo much !
yea, i dont trust any stylist or person with my hair. everytime my sisters have gone to a stylist, its been bad, or they spend 100 bucks on something I could have just done for them. so yeah, i just cut and dye my own hair. that way i can get it exactly how i want it for free. and if i mess up, then itd be my own fault. maybe ill do a how to cut/dye ur own hair. honestly, its not that hard.
yeah its true! my mom own a salon/spa and i didnt believe my mom when she told me that she counldn't do my nails or hair cuz she was too busy until i saw her apointment book just trust me 4-6 weeks in advance is the minimal haha i was suprised as u were
juts cause you dont have to book 6 - 8 weeks in advanced doesnt mean its a bad salon. the salon i work for we are normally to busy for walk ins but but you only have to phone like a few days in advanced
i have tried cheap haircuts for 10 bucks, and I've been getting very expensive ones lately for 60-70 bucks...and i'm still not satisfied...i can't find a good hair stylist, it sucks....
I am cheap as all hell, but I ALWAYS splurge on my hair, and it's worth it. I always get comments on it.
And if you dye a lot, like me, you should get it professionally done. I've been dying since I was 11. I spent 10 dollars on boxed dyes, and after about a year of changing it, my hair started falling out.
I am a PROFESSIONAL hair stylist. It is not the Salon , it is the Stylist. You can pay big money and have the worst hair cut of your life. I don't believe in people giving out advice on something they know nothing about.(but think they are an expert)
yes but a really high end salon isn't going to hire someone who can barely work at great clips, and certain salons hire people tha specialize in styles or color, and people that have really great talent won't apply for a job at supercuts
I found this really good stylist who can cut and style your hair best for you ^^ You just tell him what you want in your look, and he'll cut for you something fabulous ^^ However, he's found only in SINGAPORE xD sry~
You're totally correct! You get what you pay for. I pay $50. for my hair cut and it's well worth it. I tried going for someone cheaper, and I got what I paid for, a cheap hair cut!!! Let me tell you, I'm never going to change my hair stylist again even if I have to pay $50 dollars!!!
There is an important matter of price. Also breeknee brought up a good point, stylists pretty much all get trained at the same place. Unless they go to a fancy schmancy place and get trained by some guy named Vidal, then you will really pay for that cut. Finding a great stylist who's in your budget is a like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Lol I do the SAME exact thing! I go to supercuts and fantastic sam's...and yeah they suck. I can never find a good haircut for me...once I wanted layers and you know what they looked like? HORRIBLE! It made me look like someone burned the bottom of my hair =( I was SOO DEPRESSED! Then I asked for just a trim, in fear that layers would leave me sad again. But even a simple trim was bad because it was like...idk...it looked so BORING!
Only prob. is I don't think my parents will let me get a real stylist...and I'm looking to get a haircut before school starts cuz I'll be going to high school this year and I'm going to see all my old friends and stuff and I just want to look good...
as a stylist, i know alot really good stylist who dont have the most trendy and up to date hair. Hair is really individual. You really cannot judge a stylist by the stylist hair. I do aggree that the second you walk into the salon the way you get treated and greated is very important. And how well the stylist listens to you. Those are things i would watch for.
i had a really bad experience with cutting my hair. i told the so called stylist that i wanted it a certain way and she was like ok i understand. so then after it was done... i took a look in the mirror, everthing seemed ok. when i got home my sister told me that the so called stylist forgot to cut a chunk of it. i was so pissed... i went back to the salon that same day and yelled at the lady. i got my money back though. i never went back ever. i hope she got fired. hee hee
i am a cosmetologist. i have been doing hair for a little over 3 years. for the the most part, i agree with you 100% but there were somethings that you mentioned that i did not agree with. granted i worked for several shops owned by regis and one main reason i quit was because i like to take my time and make sure my client leaves more than satisfied. also just because walk ins are welcome does not mean they dont know what they are doing. everyone has to start somewhere b 4 they can do booth rent
i somewhat agree about the walk-in's situation. i have had the most awful haircuts from walk-in's but i don't blame the salon or even the stylist i think the problem lies with the consumer. when you're walking in you don't have a clear idea of what you want and are probably unprepared to explain it to the stylist. (i.e. no pictures or your doing something spur of the moment). unclear communication leads to an unhappy consumer. at least that is my opinion.
Omg one time I went to get the redken redlights done on my thick black asian hair and once they washed out the color I only had red fuzz around my roots it didnt take anywhere else! So then they had to bleach it and it was so damaged and yeah a real mess I was traumatized. But now I have a lady I like and she does a great job.
I definatly agree with the supercuts ... usually i go to my hair stylist but he was away for a month :( so i had to go to supercuts cause i didnt have time to find a new place.. i asked for layers she gave me one two layers that was like.. at my chin it looked terrible. :o
but yea. having a good stylist is definatly important even if it is a little bit pricy.
My stylist retired 3 years ago, and I haven't been able to find a new one as good as her. *sigh*
And I totally agree with the walk in places. I once went into one because I was just looking for a 3 inch trim, nothing fancy, and they managed to screw that up. it was uneven and just blah. Never again.
I totaly agree with the whole walk in thing to a certain degree, I'm very picky with my hair and if the place I go to doesn't look nice, and its just an in and out shop then I usualy won't go there. But even at some nicer salons new stylests have walk ins just to get a client base.
i cut my hair every month to two months my hair is long healthy and so managable and i get it cut at classic cuts its great there and i dont think its where you get it cut its who cuts your hair.
Not that I am disagreeing with you because I know you aren't speaking for all places, but I go to Mastercuts and my stylist has more training than any $70 I've ever had, and I pay $15. She razors my hair and everything and spends about an hour on me. The expensive place I used to go to, many of the girls there went to basic beauty schools, they all train at the same places. So its more of finding someone good than the place you go to.
salon vijin is where I go! It's a Japanese salon, inside Rockefeller plaza in Manhattan! Omg... they do such a great job! But its like 250 dollars. :/
Hello Pursebuzz.. I just wonder where do you get your hair done? and How much (aprox) it cost you? I love your hair, i thik it looks healthy and natural colored..I want my long hair back when I see you! but soon will be growing.
if you were born w/ black hair and it never highlights in the sun... you have SUPERNATURAL amounts of natural pigment. make sure you have a stylist that understands this.
pursebuzz, did your stylist have to bleach your hair to get it that blonde? and if so did you experience any dryness because i know from experience, those with black hair, especially asian hair, is resistant to color. (i'm asian) i went today to get my hair done and i wanted to dye my hair a reddish honey blonde, similar to yours and she said she couldn't lift my hair color that light. :( so i'm basically asking what were the steps your stylist took to get it that color? was is foil highlights?

your stylist is a freakin liar! i've had my hair pretty much honey blonde to caramel blond to chest nut brown... its true asian hair is harder cuz it's black, blah blah, but it's not impossible. i'd never go back to that salon. they may be careful, but probably because of the quality of the salon's dye, she wasnt able to do it. i didnt have to dye my hair blond either... although the place i went to WAS expensive. so look into high end salons who are confident and experienced.

i don't know what to say but I gotta agree with you. it sounds fake just like my teacher cuz she talks like that ....exactly like that...annoying and when she talks to her students, it's different.
Yeah, so true that you should check out hair stylists etc, When i was younger i went to an 'expensive' hair salon, thinking hey its more expensive it'll be better, they didn't ask what i wanted, i ended up with a tiny fringe, it was WONKY! And i was overcharged, which just made it worse, lol. I cried when i got home. Wasn't good.
i have to agree with some of what you said. but some of the things you say may not be as acurate as far as hair gose. i understand your giving advice from YOUR experience, but there are other things your saying that you should leave to the experts to give adivce on.

also bringin in pictures is a really good way to show them a general idea of what kind of style you you want, but sometimes as a consumer you might think a hairstyle is great for but a stylist with thier professional eye will see why it may not work for you. and i hav ehad many experinces where my client will come in with a picture and i can already see that the picture they brought in will not work and then they think i dont know what i am talking about lol.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
and i refuse to do something that will have my anme onit just becasue you think you want it, becasue im not gonna ruin the integrity of your hair, nor will i compromise my professional opinon. so i am just explaining the other side of things. your not a professional so you ar enot looking at things the way we are. i hpe that explains it a little.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
without sounding bitchy or anything lol. but i do agreethat a stylist should work with youa nd you should be able to trust them. but people dont know that, that trust gose both ways lol.

ummm im guessing you are NOT a hair stylist ... "walk-ins welcome" is suposed to be a convenients for the clients . And if you said your hair hair was fine and thin then why would you say that your stylist puts layers in it and THINS it .... your a bimbo not a hair stylist CLEARLY
phenylalanine89 you must work at Fantastic Sam or Super Cuts huh? hahaha.... nothings wrong w/ that! Stop being such a hater.... You callin her a "Bimbo" cause she's giving her opinion? If you go something bad to say keep it to your Fukin Self! No ones gives a shit about your Opinion!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
you dont have to insult her for giving her opinion. please stop saying your a stylist becasue your a disgrace to sylists everywhere. we as stylists treat people with respect.
I have had alot of bad Hair cuts experience when I was younger,Like I told the person cutting my hair I want my hair below my sholders and she would of cut it above the sholders I use to get so mad I would just cuzz them out and walk out and told my mom not to pay them it was like 15 dollars a cut but she did anyways LMAO So thankz for the tips =]
Im growing my hair long it used to be that way when i was younger an i really regret cutting it because now it grows SOOOO slowly it kills me... Im really nervous of hair stylists as everytime ive been they say the famous last words of ''i dont need to take alot off'' an u end up with it really short back where u started... how can i make SURE they dont cut off more than i want? x
There really isn't a way, you have to trust them. But you can also show them how much, The term "dusting" is used to just a slight trim. Like a not even a centimeter :P
I used to live in Orlando and I had a good hair salon I went to there. But I moved to a completely different town and all we have is liek great clips and those quick cut places. And i can tell the difference bettween a slaon and them.
I am currently looking for a great hair stylist. I haven't found anyone who knows the latest trends. Your hair stylist should be an artist. Anyone can pick up scissors and chop off locks of hair and charge you 10 bucks, but I am not a rich girl, so I don't think I would pay over 60 bucks. That's my limit.
My hair stylist doesn't charge me $10. OMG I wish! I had a stylist in highschool who charged $10. For $60 you should be able to get a great hair cut :)
Yeah, it's hard to find a really great talented and knowledgeable stylist. I don't pay 10 bucks for a cut. I don't know of anyone who does that anymore. I think the cheapest I found is $18. But I've been to 4 different stylist in the last 8 mo. & still not happy with them, but the search continues. I think it depends on where you live sometimes. Where do great stylists get their training? Here, in MS, they just go to American Beauty College or some little school like that.
I need to find a stylist who has great training in the fundamentals of hair styling and who's up with the trends. I think it's great you mentioned just high lighting the crown of your head instead of the whole thing to avoid damage and just give your hair some softness and interest. I've done that with a blond color & it looked fab. For 2008, I'm going with an all over color. I'm thinking caramel brown.
Wow, I'm going on & on. You've really opened up a great topic here. Obviously I have stylist issues, haha. Btw, your new do looks great. I love that shade. Very soft & caramel-y.
i deffinately agree about having a relationship with your stylist. i absolutely adore my stylist, because we're both very similar, we both have pretty crazy colours in our hair very frequently, so we both understand what the other is talking about. plus, i've spent time with her outside of the hair salon, so its like more of a friend relationship than just a hair stylist one. :]
oh and i have a question.. if my hair grows really slowly then what can i do to make it grow faster? and i really dont like getting trims too much because itll only make my hair shorter and not longer, the way i want it..
i love your hair. i know some people love your streaks before but what a cute update, right. you look like one of those pretty anime characters with pretty hair. can you tell me what e/s are you wearing?
I have about 2-3 inches under my shoulder hair and well it dosnt grow fast at all i was wondering if yu had any tips abut it and well i was also wondering what colour is your hair i like it XD
pursebuzz just wondering, how often do you get your haircut? i know that you are suppose to get your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks but i like my hair long (about mid-way down my back) and my hair just doesn't grow quickly enough to allow me to get a trim that often. this also makes it difficult for me to build a relationship with my stylist when i see them only once or twice a year. thanks for all your advice.
I get it cut every 6-8 weeks. If I don't its split end city. There is no point in keeping long frizzy hair. The healthier your hair is the faster it will grow :)
Your haircolor is awesome! Is the top a golden brown shade? a dark blond shade? I'd love to get highlights or all over color in that shade, but I'm golden-tan, I don't know if it'll suit me for the spring/summer. I know it's early, but I must plan ahead for my hair lol.
It is extremely hard for me to find a stylist who really is up to my expectations. I've searched and switched to different high end salons and switched stylists within those salons! Latest I paid $150/cut at Allure mag recommended salon in TX, all I got is a nice trim. I had pics, but he didn't even look at them closely :(
Yeah, I totally agree that you have to research your hair stylist. Oh, and it really helps to pick a time where you know that your hair stylist won't be busy. That way, they spend more time talking to you about what you want and you get a better quality hair cut.
OMG that's exactly how my hair got cut (in crappy-layers)... greatclips, pah, I hate my haircut. I used to go to regis until my fave stylist there got promoted to regional trainer and now works at a salon thats like an hour from here. Your tips are great :) BTW your hair looks absolutely lovely
I never went to a hair stylist until 2005. I was referred to a wonderful hair stylist and I LOOOOOOOOOOVED her. But I think now she is too busy for me. She has a lot of clients and sometimes she doesn't return my call.
On the other hand, I think my hair is difficult to do. So I wouldn't be surprised if she dumped me :( I do trim my own hair now. And I dye my own hair.
Your hair looks very healthy and bouncy :) You look so pretty in this video.
Oo la la!! Love you new hair!! It's fabu!! Super cute! Love your green look too! :D
I've always been nervous about having someone else cut my hair. I'd never been to a stylist until Nov 2005. I always cut my own hair until I went with my friend to one of her appointments. Now she's the only one I'll go to..Unfortunately now I'm in a different state, so I'm back to cutting my own hair. :( Great tips!!
i haven't gone to a salon to have my hair cut for more than a year, i'm just scared that they might not understand what i want...so i have my boyfriend trim my ends..hehe..but it works!..lol

oblio777 3 years ago
juts cause you dont have to book 6 - 8 weeks in advanced doesnt mean its a bad salon. the salon i work for we are normally to busy for walk ins but but you only have to phone like a few days in advanced
calaforniakisses 3 years ago
40$???
my god...that's cheap compared to what i pay...
i have tried cheap haircuts for 10 bucks, and I've been getting very expensive ones lately for 60-70 bucks...and i'm still not satisfied...i can't find a good hair stylist, it sucks....
crazydanger 3 years ago 2
I am cheap as all hell, but I ALWAYS splurge on my hair, and it's worth it. I always get comments on it.
And if you dye a lot, like me, you should get it professionally done. I've been dying since I was 11. I spent 10 dollars on boxed dyes, and after about a year of changing it, my hair started falling out.

I am a PROFESSIONAL hair stylist. It is not the Salon , it is the Stylist. You can pay big money and have the worst hair cut of your life. I don't believe in people giving out advice on something they know nothing about.(but think they are an expert)

peenngguuiinnn 3 years ago
yes but a really high end salon isn't going to hire someone who can barely work at great clips, and certain salons hire people tha specialize in styles or color, and people that have really great talent won't apply for a job at supercuts

when my hair went down to the middle of my
back. and when the hair-stylist was done
she completely chopped off my hair to somethinq
really really short like a grandma type hair.
omq! i was pissed off! so yea, hair-stylist should listen to the client before doinq somethinq they don't completely understand.
miszjessilove13 3 years ago 2

Orchid899 3 years ago
Lol I do the SAME exact thing! I go to supercuts and fantastic sam's...and yeah they suck. I can never find a good haircut for me...once I wanted layers and you know what they looked like? HORRIBLE! It made me look like someone burned the bottom of my hair =( I was SOO DEPRESSED! Then I asked for just a trim, in fear that layers would leave me sad again. But even a simple trim was bad because it was like...idk...it looked so BORING!
I've always wanted scene hair...so bad =(

Only prob. is I don't think my parents will let me get a real stylist...and I'm looking to get a haircut before school starts cuz I'll be going to high school this year and I'm going to see all my old friends and stuff and I just want to look good...
Anyone have tips or suggestions?
911Lithium911 3 years ago
as a stylist, i know alot really good stylist who dont have the most trendy and up to date hair. Hair is really individual. You really cannot judge a stylist by the stylist hair. I do aggree that the second you walk into the salon the way you get treated and greated is very important. And how well the stylist listens to you. Those are things i would watch for.
doytchinova 3 years ago
hehe my stylist does it for free and it includes a wash and cut and shes cool cause she really listens to you and i love me hair!

i had a really bad experience with cutting my hair. i told the so called stylist that i wanted it a certain way and she was like ok i understand. so then after it was done... i took a look in the mirror, everthing seemed ok. when i got home my sister told me that the so called stylist forgot to cut a chunk of it. i was so pissed... i went back to the salon that same day and yelled at the lady. i got my money back though. i never went back ever. i hope she got fired. hee hee

i am a cosmetologist. i have been doing hair for a little over 3 years. for the the most part, i agree with you 100% but there were somethings that you mentioned that i did not agree with. granted i worked for several shops owned by regis and one main reason i quit was because i like to take my time and make sure my client leaves more than satisfied. also just because walk ins are welcome does not mean they dont know what they are doing. everyone has to start somewhere b 4 they can do booth rent
shadowrealmgirl 3 years ago 2
haha i was the same way! getting a haircut for like $10 cuz we always had a coupon! haha
hollercrombie711 3 years ago
i somewhat agree about the walk-in's situation. i have had the most awful haircuts from walk-in's but i don't blame the salon or even the stylist i think the problem lies with the consumer. when you're walking in you don't have a clear idea of what you want and are probably unprepared to explain it to the stylist. (i.e. no pictures or your doing something spur of the moment). unclear communication leads to an unhappy consumer. at least that is my opinion.
phenomenalgrl 3 years ago 3
Omg one time I went to get the redken redlights done on my thick black asian hair and once they washed out the color I only had red fuzz around my roots it didnt take anywhere else! So then they had to bleach it and it was so damaged and yeah a real mess I was traumatized. But now I have a lady I like and she does a great job.
SUNHEE12 3 years ago
I definatly agree with the supercuts ... usually i go to my hair stylist but he was away for a month :( so i had to go to supercuts cause i didnt have time to find a new place.. i asked for layers she gave me one two layers that was like.. at my chin it looked terrible. :o
but yea. having a good stylist is definatly important even if it is a little bit pricy.
BrokenPromises93 3 years ago
My stylist retired 3 years ago, and I haven't been able to find a new one as good as her. *sigh*
And I totally agree with the walk in places. I once went into one because I was just looking for a 3 inch trim, nothing fancy, and they managed to screw that up. it was uneven and just blah. Never again.

I totaly agree with the whole walk in thing to a certain degree, I'm very picky with my hair and if the place I go to doesn't look nice, and its just an in and out shop then I usualy won't go there. But even at some nicer salons new stylests have walk ins just to get a client base.

PuriGorotta 3 years ago 6
Not that I am disagreeing with you because I know you aren't speaking for all places, but I go to Mastercuts and my stylist has more training than any $70 I've ever had, and I pay $15. She razors my hair and everything and spends about an hour on me. The expensive place I used to go to, many of the girls there went to basic beauty schools, they all train at the same places. So its more of finding someone good than the place you go to.

if you were born w/ black hair and it never highlights in the sun... you have SUPERNATURAL amounts of natural pigment. make sure you have a stylist that understands this.

devilzangylz 4 years ago
pursebuzz, did your stylist have to bleach your hair to get it that blonde? and if so did you experience any dryness because i know from experience, those with black hair, especially asian hair, is resistant to color. (i'm asian) i went today to get my hair done and i wanted to dye my hair a reddish honey blonde, similar to yours and she said she couldn't lift my hair color that light. :( so i'm basically asking what were the steps your stylist took to get it that color? was is foil highlights?
devilzangylz 4 years ago
My hair is actually med brown with a few highlights in front. But the few highlights made it look a lot lighter overall

your stylist is a freakin liar! i've had my hair pretty much honey blonde to caramel blond to chest nut brown... its true asian hair is harder cuz it's black, blah blah, but it's not impossible. i'd never go back to that salon. they may be careful, but probably because of the quality of the salon's dye, she wasnt able to do it. i didnt have to dye my hair blond either... although the place i went to WAS expensive. so look into high end salons who are confident and experienced.

you can only lift 4 layers with dye. so, if you're a natural level one [blackblackblack hair], you can only go to a 7 or 6, maybe.
you might have to bleach it, THEN dye it. completely normal though, especially with asian hair.

also bringin in pictures is a really good way to show them a general idea of what kind of style you you want, but sometimes as a consumer you might think a hairstyle is great for but a stylist with thier professional eye will see why it may not work for you. and i hav ehad many experinces where my client will come in with a picture and i can already see that the picture they brought in will not work and then they think i dont know what i am talking about lol.

Hi Pursebuzz! Where did you have your hair done?
bosleymom 4 years ago
I am currently looking for a great hair stylist. I haven't found anyone who knows the latest trends. Your hair stylist should be an artist. Anyone can pick up scissors and chop off locks of hair and charge you 10 bucks, but I am not a rich girl, so I don't think I would pay over 60 bucks. That's my limit.
Orchid899 4 years ago
My hair stylist doesn't charge me $10. OMG I wish! I had a stylist in highschool who charged $10. For $60 you should be able to get a great hair cut :)
pursebuzz 4 years ago
Yeah, it's hard to find a really great talented and knowledgeable stylist. I don't pay 10 bucks for a cut. I don't know of anyone who does that anymore. I think the cheapest I found is $18. But I've been to 4 different stylist in the last 8 mo. & still not happy with them, but the search continues. I think it depends on where you live sometimes. Where do great stylists get their training? Here, in MS, they just go to American Beauty College or some little school like that.
Orchid899 4 years ago
I need to find a stylist who has great training in the fundamentals of hair styling and who's up with the trends. I think it's great you mentioned just high lighting the crown of your head instead of the whole thing to avoid damage and just give your hair some softness and interest. I've done that with a blond color & it looked fab. For 2008, I'm going with an all over color. I'm thinking caramel brown.
Orchid899 4 years ago
Wow, I'm going on & on. You've really opened up a great topic here. Obviously I have stylist issues, haha. Btw, your new do looks great. I love that shade. Very soft & caramel-y.
Orchid899 4 years ago
my stylist can "copy" hairstyles
if u describe the hairstyle then she'll give you the hair that you want
and its 10 dollars
so usually what i do is i draw a picture of how i want my hair beforehand
and she'll cut it that way and its 30 mins per cut

pursebuzz just wondering, how often do you get your haircut? i know that you are suppose to get your hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks but i like my hair long (about mid-way down my back) and my hair just doesn't grow quickly enough to allow me to get a trim that often. this also makes it difficult for me to build a relationship with my stylist when i see them only once or twice a year. thanks for all your advice.
devilzangylz 4 years ago
Hey there
I get it cut every 6-8 weeks. If I don't its split end city. There is no point in keeping long frizzy hair. The healthier your hair is the faster it will grow :)
pursebuzz 4 years ago
Your haircolor is awesome! Is the top a golden brown shade? a dark blond shade? I'd love to get highlights or all over color in that shade, but I'm golden-tan, I don't know if it'll suit me for the spring/summer. I know it's early, but I must plan ahead for my hair lol.
