You know this song actually fits better with these credits than the credits they were meant for. Warching the original credit for Buck Rogers, if you didn't know what the show was about you may think it was a scifi porno spoof.
yeah i know which one your talkin about. But remember this was in the 70's, Tesla was still in high school then. lolz, so they stole the rift from Kipp Lennon.
@Trompthar: It became the music for the series too. They used a sped up instrumental version for the show opening when the movie became a series. When they ran the pilot on TV they used the TV opening instead of the opening in the theater release. Yes, it actually was released in theaters.
@abergethirty Well, You've got ME beat. I only saw the original TV airing for BR and I've missed hearing this song until recently thanks to Youtube. Tho' the show was simple action fair, it was fun to watch. When the show changed format and included the eagle-head guy, they were obviously trying for a more StarTrek-ian feel. Rodgers was suddenly not a 'funny guy' any more.the change was too sudden. I hated seeing Erin Gray with her hair brunette. I was just not used to it. She was goreous tho'.
@Velocity9s It's too bad people didn't get to see the movie opening. It was kind of cool, sort of a James Bondish kind of opening with lots of pretty girls and effects. It was basicly him dreaming during his 500 year sleep.
@abergethirty Yes thats what I saw. They showed it ON TV. The girls(I'm sure Erin Grey was one of them) all wore silvery bathing-suit type outfits and writhed around promiscuously on a floor bottom lit with the words 'Buck Rodgers' on/in it. MAN, I hate it when I'm trapped aboard a super-shuttle in suspended animation & locked into one continuous dream about hot babes in scanty silver garb writhing around on a floor together as they gaze at me with labinous stares. I just hate that!
@Velocity9s You are right, but to a point - only Erin Grey and Pamela Hensley were characters in the show. Apparently the rest of the women in the opening of the movie credits appeared either as minor roles in the series or appeared in "Battlestar Galactica."
@jadewarlock Really?? Would that include the very cute Ann Lockheart(daughter of June!!) and the very shapely Pamela Susan-Shape...er, Shoop? Heavy panting....d%
This is awesome!! I remember seeing BR back when I was a kid, and totally falling in love with this song (and the intro video with the forever hot Pamela Hensley!). Yeah, what Star Trek really NEEDS is a good shot of the politically INCORRECT 1960's and 1970's!
First, that Pam Hensley is forever hot, and second, that Star Trek needs to get its balls back. "The Next Generation" never, ever would've made it back in the '60's.
People expected a two-fisted, no-b.s. starship captain like James Kirk.
They wouldn't have settled for a U.N.-ambassador-type like Jean-Luc Picard...
I was only 2 years old when this series came out. Now I'm 30 and I've just been starting to watch all the episodes now. Love the title music. Thanks for posting
Works really well. Good work. But the credits would be better if you had that song and Tpol and Hoshi doing the original pilot episode intro from Buck Rogers:)
Wow! Is it me or are Trek fans the BEST!!! It would have been so cool if you said "In the Earth year 2126, Starfleet launches the first of Earth's deep space starships"!
hahah much better than Rod Stewart´s song!! clap clap

Wow. If you could find a cleaner audio track that would be down right perfect. As it stands it only goose bump inducing.

This works really well with that awful temporal cold war thing in mind.

Damn. This is much better than the song they used for real.
Thenagain, William Shatner's "Rocket Man" would even be more suitable

The song is "Suspension" from the Buck Rogers Soundtrack Album.
bipolarber 2 years ago
Which was from the original motion picture release (hence the soundtrack album), sung by Kip Lennon.

The name of the song is Suspension, sung by Kipp Lennon, and is the Theme Song for the Pilot/Movie of Buck Rogers.

Thanks man I am planning a Buck Rodgers Machinima opening sequence when it comes out I will send you a link.

I saw this tv-series when I was 12 years old,at home just arrived back from school(around 17:00 o'clock in autumn)-
and I simply fell in love with this theme song !!!!!!!
Until now(I'm 35 now)I was looking for it-
finally I found it again!-I'm glad.

Very well? Damn near perfect if you ask me.

lol! This would have made the opening of Enterprise far more palatable...!

only if they re-recorded it. I never liked the original singer of this song.

Not a bad fit, I think you did a great job! Keep up the good work.

Although a 'lighter-weight' song, I think the lyrics to Enterprise fit the show better.
Synthesist2004 4 years ago
You think that maybe (just maybe) this was on the subconscious of whoever picked the "Patch Adams" song for "Enterprise?" It would stand to reason.

Thatisn't funny, but it fits perfectly. Even the mood of the song changes in time with imagery on that particular Star Trek intro.
vidstarr 4 years ago
It's funny, but cheesy as this song is it's not any cheesier than the Patch Adams theme song that actually started ENT. Thanks for proving this.

I loved the idea you had there.
To fill the entire song you could even add clips from different episodes and throw them all in to fit the time.
