This episode was good but my opinion for the 5 top best are: 5. The Tale Of The Lonely Ghost. 4. The Tale Of The Dark Music. 3 The Tale Of Apartment 214. 2. The Tale Of Laughing In The Dark. 1. The Tale Of The Crimson Clown. I love this show since age 7. The thing that I feared the most as a kid would be turning on the lights in my Bedroom & randomly seeing the Crimson Clown Doll among the toys on my Shelves like in the episode.
@baarbear: No. We received a lot of them States-side via Nickelodeon and SNICK with the infamous orange couch. Plus, even up until the early 2000's, an annual Halloween episode--i.e. a rerun of the show--aired.
This was my FAVOURITE episode of this show, OMG! I am so excited to see this. I can't believe this creeped me out when I was a kid, though, LOL! Especially since I would have been, like, 9 or something...;)
lol this episode gave me nightmares and i was scared 2 get a barbie dreamhouse after that...lol and that girl with the brown curly hair was always weird lookin 2 me
@AcesJD I didn't say that I loved Scream/Dusk Channel, all I was pointing out was that the announcer sounded exactly like the original Scream Channel announcer.
Though I have to say IFC is much better for movies then Dusk ever was.
@levanyzzuf Just because it aired in 94 doesn't mean you actually saw it that year, though. If you DID, I think your parents would have to be a little touched in the head to let a 4 year old watch a show like this.
@Hagerwife no, I saw it the night it premiered. I remember seeing an ad for it on YTV and insisting that we have dinner at grandmother's place that night so I could see it. I did watch it with adult supervision though, but I was an unusually mature kid who had already seen Schwarzenneger action films by that point and was never really affected by disturbing images on television. The fascination that most teens develop with slasher films hit me at 8 or 9.
@levanyzzuf totally. My mom never cared to supervise our shows, and I was watching Terminator and Terminator 2 when I was in Grade 1 and Grade 2. I used to write about it at our journal in school and use all the profanity and violence I watched on terminator the night before...much to the dismay of my Teachers!
@AcesJD Very similar with me, although I had the good sense as a youngun to know that swearing was to be avoided - due mostly to rigid instruction from my parents. Looking back, it helped me mature at an advanced rate but probably wasn't the wisest parental tactic. My dad would fast forward through the brief sex scene in T1 but allow me to witness the carnage, a terrible form of hypocrisy that I've tried to let them know was wrong.
WOW! Very first episode I ever saw. Scared the life out of me and I still remember it vividly. Her friend Susan turns into a doll or something...I was only 5 at the time and totally unprepared for what I saw.
OMG the green skull! I totally forgot about that one it gave me the creeps way back then lol now I see it and it just made my stomach feel a little weird XP
Does anyone remember a show called (correct me on spelling) "Xtreme" or "Extreme" with all the random clips of sports and other stuff with music playing the whole show? And at the end of the show they showed the track list of all the bands that had a song played in the show of that episode? It played early to mid 90s if I can remember correctly. Can anyone remember and help out on tracking this amazing show down?
Are You Afraid of the Dark? was quit an essential show for YTV then. Also, wow, the Green Skull logo for 1994 looked almost non-human, to say the least.

Interesting this. The only 'Are You Afraid Of The Dark' promo we received in the States featured Mr Vink (with a vuh vuh vuh.;-D).

For some reason the announcer sounds like a younger version of Scream/Dusk Televisions announcer? I wonder if it is the same person?

@Kenster1025 That channel sucks half the time.

The Tale of the Dollmaker - aired Feb 5 1994. So I wasn't even 5 yet and watching this. Could have been very traumatic...
