"slight" difference in the mix? Its a radical difference and this is the better one by far. What a shame they put the inferior one on the Exile package.
Shut the fuck up about the dislikes, If 9 people want to dislike it than more power to them i can give a fuck. All that matters is I like the song right? If they want to not like it then hey in my opinion they are missing out but thats just my opinion. Learn to ignore people that anger you i find that a lot easier lol
So where can one get this version then? What a shame its not the one on the cd..its clearly better (due specifically to Taylor being higher in the mix ). One can only speculate why it wasn't chosen for the cd.
@stevenjromero Yep. This one has more Taylor and he's higher in the mix. The cd version has less of his playing and he's more buried. Needless to say i prefer this version. Great tune either way though.
Wow I had heard about this tune but hadn't heard it until now. Great groove and vocals. Mick Taylor after all these years still fits in perfect playing beautifully off Jagger's vocals. Thanks for the magic one more time.
I think it's cool that Mick Taylor was included in the overdubs on this tune. Longstanding Stones fans largely believe that Mick Taylor was an essential part of the Stones when they made much of their greatest music. It's nice to include and recognize him for his fabulous contributions.
If that's Jagger singing those Richards-style harmonies, he should get a mimicking award. My ears still say it's Richards, but all written evidence points the other way.
The Rolling Stones best studio albums are Beggars Banquet, Let it bleed, Sticky fingers, Exile on main street, Goats head soup, It's only rock n' roll, Black and blue, Some girls, Emotional rescue and Tattoo you. They got ten consecutive albums that hit the first spot in USA charts while for example Pink Floyd only four Dark side of the moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall.
Mick Jagger invited Mick Taylor in the studio for adding guitar lines to this song. At least Sir Jagger didn't show no grudge against his former bandmate after he left the band in 1975.
There's one thing I don't understand about this song. Maybe someone can help me with this? The backing vocals in the verses sound like Keith Richards to me. I heard there were no lyrics for this song, so it's impossible he sang them back then. I'm pretty sure he can't sing like this anymore, cause his voice changed a lot (I still like his voice don't get me wrong). Also he's not credited for the backing vocals. Does anyone know who's singing then?
@acdcrocks991 This song was recorded back when Exile was made but was left off the album for whatever reason. So it probably is Keith singing. The song you're thinking of is "Following The River"
@acdcrocks991 it´s mick jagger.Remember when keith was to high to put some backing vocals, jagger did the job.For example on 100 years ago or most of the tattoo you album. Then Richards lost his sweet voice.
@laspenasdelfenix Remember that Jagger also performed the backing vocals for "Start Me Up", probably the most prominent example of his dead-on Keith mimicry.
After Exile the rolling stones should do a deluxe edition of goats head soup putting on the first disc the original album with two bonus tracks "Criss Cross Man" and "Separately" and on the second disc the live album "Brussels Affair 1973" which has a perfect sound because it's a Fm Broadcast. For example U2 did this with "The Joshua Tree" including bonus tracks and the complete "Live In Paris 1987". I hope the stones read my advice it would be amazing
The Rolling Stones got 10 consecutive albums that hit the first spot in Us charts from 1968 to 1981 and i bought them all Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile on main Street, Goats head soup, It's only rock 'n roll, Black & Blue, Some Girls Emotional Rescue and Tattoo You plus Hot Rocks 1964-1971 i mean the best music i've ever. I don't like their later albums from undercover to a bigger bang they're not so creative and miss the great Mick Taylor
@mkmcc1 That seems true, but Keith, Mick, Charlie and Bill sounded awfully good with Mick Taylor though - Shame they don't record & tour again with a three guitar attack for Richards, Taylor and Wood. Just to state the obvious, as an entity, its centered Jagger/Richards/Watts, but there were a lot of contributions over the years - Billy Preston, Wood, Taylor, Brian Jones, Nicky Hopkins, Wyman, Jimmy Miller, Keys, to name the most prominent that really enriched the legacy.
I hear you brother, i also got them all on Lp/vinyl. And It`s a shame that some people today dont appreciate this kind of music anymore. But the stones realy are the best!
@spardo76 How could they have kept those tracks back? I have some lousy sounding versions on Outake Boots but never so much as heard of this one....& it's Incredible!

No other rock & roll album does more heavy lifting than Exile. Even as a total Beatle lover, I tip my hat to The Stones and proclaim Exile On Main Street the best album ever made. It still totally kicks my 54 year old ass.
No other rock & roll album does more heavy lifting than Exile. Even as a total Beatle lover,I tip my hat to The Stones and proclaim Exile On Main Street the best album ever made. It still totally kicks my 54 year old ass.
I gonna see them on tour if they ever do it again! 2011-2012 seems like another World Tour & a final album...these guys are by far the best rock band to ever walk on the planet! Of course the Beatles deserve a mention too but the Stones are the longest last...they have a perfect formula for success!
As a stones fanatic,ESP a Keith and Anita one I am willing to bet this was penned about her. Jagger was known for always thinking chicks were after his money! I don't think it was about Bianca.Bianca was his attempt at upper class society. Jmo.btw still love all the stones wives and girlfriends!
Awesome awesome awsome song thanks so much guys! Your fans young and old love you! New fans discover your hidden gems every day! Now how bout gettin a station on satellite?
The Stones are at #1 on the U.K. and European record charts with a day of sales to go. They will enter the American charts at #2 and the Global chart at #1...Not bad for a bunch of 70 year olds.
@2commonandcoarse We know where Mick is - he's in South Africa watching World Cup matches - the TV directors love to cut to Mick in the crowd. Good to see.
nice song, i just got the video from itunes for FREE somehow! maybe it's a limited offer, but it's a pleasant surprise to see the STONES give anything for FREE
i can't believe that there aren't some songs out there that were never released, that already had lyrics and the vocals added. that would be cool. that i would actually go to a store and walk in and buy a cd of
@thisjustin3 There are on bootlegs, Acetates has goats head soup and it's only r n r, including definative verion of drift away and the killer tune, criss cross man. Also the trident sessions and olympia sessions outakes from the late sixties, early seventies, they sound great, some instrumantals, some complete.
This is supposed to be an exile outtake but is anything but. How can Jagger expect to sound the same almost 40 years later, The stones should have included an entire disc of actual exile outtakes because there all out there already in bootleg form, instead we get rerecordings!
there are two remaining great bands from the 60's one is Deep Purple and the other is The Rolling Stones but while Deep Purple substituted Ritchie Blackmore with another virtuoso guitarrist Steve Morse and didn't lost their hard rock sound The Rolling Stones substituted Mick Taylor with a bass guitar player Ronnie Wood that since he joined the Stones in 1975 is still learning how to play a fuckin electric guitar
Pre-sales have been pretty strong so far. There is a chance the Stones could enter the charts at #1 in several countries around the world as well as the Global chart with the Exile re-issue.
What an amazing song and incredible it didn't make the album.
The Rolling Stones never stop impressing me and though I have a bias towards Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street, I've loved them through all the years and always find hints of brilliance in every single album they put out.
Shame they didn't finish and release this originally.

The Stones are at #1 on the U.K. and European record charts with a day of sales to go. They will enter the American charts at #2 and the Global chart at #1...Not bad for a bunch of 70 year olds.
Keep on Rolling!!!

But I do miss your quick repartee
And the smile
That lights up your face.
You'll be a hard act to follow,
A bitter pill to swallow,
You'll be tough, you'll be tough to replace

MICK CAN STILL WRITE THE BEST LYRICS!

i can't believe that there aren't some songs out there that were never released, that already had lyrics and the vocals added. that would be cool. that i would actually go to a store and walk in and buy a cd of
thisjustin3 1 year ago
@thisjustin3 There are on bootlegs, Acetates has goats head soup and it's only r n r, including definative verion of drift away and the killer tune, criss cross man. Also the trident sessions and olympia sessions outakes from the late sixties, early seventies, they sound great, some instrumantals, some complete.
harp1925 1 year ago
This is supposed to be an exile outtake but is anything but. How can Jagger expect to sound the same almost 40 years later, The stones should have included an entire disc of actual exile outtakes because there all out there already in bootleg form, instead we get rerecordings!

It's not danceable and it's not relaxing to listen to. I'm a huge Rolling Stones fan, but it's just average.

"I thought you wanted my money" - listen again. So the premise works - you didn't steal my money but you did get my soul. It happens.
AllenOption8 1 year ago
@AllenOption8 I know, I know. But it's an fun old pastime to hear what you want in Mick's vocals.

Keith Richards in RSM in Exile interview May 2010 :
" Mick Taylor is such a vituoso. He still amazes me. If I had my way, he'd still be in the band. "
Come on Mick, Keith, and Mick and make it happen ! YES !

there are two remaining great bands from the 60's one is Deep Purple and the other is The Rolling Stones but while Deep Purple substituted Ritchie Blackmore with another virtuoso guitarrist Steve Morse and didn't lost their hard rock sound The Rolling Stones substituted Mick Taylor with a bass guitar player Ronnie Wood that since he joined the Stones in 1975 is still learning how to play a fuckin electric guitar

Pre-sales have been pretty strong so far. There is a chance the Stones could enter the charts at #1 in several countries around the world as well as the Global chart with the Exile re-issue.
#1 at Amazon if that means anything.

What an amazing song and incredible it didn't make the album.
The Rolling Stones never stop impressing me and though I have a bias towards Sticky Fingers and Exile On Main Street, I've loved them through all the years and always find hints of brilliance in every single album they put out.
Great song. Long live the Stones!!!!
