thank you for keep'n this lost art alive..many respects friend...people nowaday's can't comprehend this music"it's too deep for their shallow mind's"!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats Talent. i play the guitar but not fingerstyle. i bet youd be wonderful on an acoustic guitar, your fingers move so fast lol. look up Tommy Emanuel. i think youl find him pretty influencing
holy jumping blind cave fish, that's a great version. I like the F# cuckoo call, a la Dink Roberts. interesting to see you don't move your right hand much to conserve energy--I think I've been swinging too high. my version's on youtube somewhere, but it isn't as fast & rollicking. cheers!
Nice playing BanjoChris I first heard this song on Harry Smiths Anthology of American Music - Its haunting and intriguing and I think you have caught the essence of this song.
I am a grandson of Hobart Smith, and you therefore must know who and what I have seen in my life. Not to mention, I am also a son of Wiley J. Smith. I must say that you are probably the best at this that I personally have heard. Thanks for keeping the style alive !!!
That's the best rendition of Clarence Ashley's version I've seen (after looking at about 20 others over the last 30 minutes.) You've got the galloping, slightly out of control rhythm down and the tone is great.
Wow !!! ... O^O! This is awesome it has a sort of primitive sophistication, yes I know that's an oxymoron, but on the one hand it seems to be rough, basic and lick based yet on the other it is so subtle and intertwines so well with the melody that it is complicated ....
Chris this is just wonderful . Lots of years coming back to hear this . All the best , Guy

Amazing playing. I don't know much about banjo, being a guitarist myself, but I feel this music and it's... unbelieveable. Real music.

The fact that banjochris isn't famous as, say, the president, shows that the world is seriously off track! I'm just knocked out by this guys stuff.
