I would sure like to get to a convention, when are they usually held. I don't play, but to me a pedal steel must be what angels sound like when they sing.
@analyzer525 Conventions and steel guitar shows are held around the country. There is one almost every weekend. You can keep up with what is going on by logging onto the "Steel Guitar Forum" and clicking on Events and Announcements
ive been looking through some of these in hopes i could see my dad. he used to go to these in st. louis. my dad passed away a few years ago and it would sure be nice to see him again on here. thanks for posting these.
Tom was one of the best. Thanks for another great video Steelpicker ! What brand of steel is Tom playing here? I can't quite make out the name, but I know it is not a ZB...
Anyone that wold like to hear another absolutely fine version of "Together Again" - search for "davidpedalsteel" or "David Hartley ". I would wager my next months' paycheck that he'll knock your socks off. He's EXTREMELY telented and plays a lot of Buck Owens music. This guy is a pro in every sense of the word. I'd also like to bet that same paycheck that Tom would have loved this guy.
I totally agree with you trooper553. For having listened to almost all of davidpedalsteel videos, you are 100% right when you say that ''he'll knock your socks off''. And of course Tom would have loved him.
We've seen numerus steel players come and go. Tom was one that left an indelible mark on all of us that love steel guitar music. He and players like Bruce Bouton, Terry Crisp, etc have given so much to us and, especially you, Tom. We thank you. Godspeed.
We have had, and DO have, some wonderful steel players. Tom, Terry Crisp, Bruce Bouton just to name a few. We lost one of the very best when Tom passed on and I wish you "Godspeed, Tom".
the first time i heard TOM was in HEE HAA,,,since then i learned how to appreciate the sound of the steel guitar,,we know many steel players were inspired by you,,God bless you in heaven..
Thank you Tom Brumley for creating some of the sweetest sounds that ever came out of a steel guitar. God Bless the Brumley family during this time. We're sorry for your loss, and I thank y ou for the contribution Tom made to the country music family.
I had the pleasure of knowing Tom here in Branson, and I also got to do something that I will never forget, I sang Together Again on stage with him on steel. Rolene you will be in my prayers and and I know that Tom is in heaven smiling down on us, with his Dad by his side and he is also reunited with Buck, Don, and Doyle. God Bless the Family
You're watching real greatness here people - greatness that I'm afraid we won't see again!
Sadly, as we lose these great steel pioneers we must also lose the freshness and excitement that they brought to us through their music.
Losing my mother in November, I can sympathise with how Mr. Brumley's family and friends may be feeling at this time - Waiting is never easy. I hope they can take strength from all the good, happy memories they will no doubt have locked in their hearts and minds.
I would rather hear Tom play the whole way through, nothing against the singer. I never get tired of Tom!!

his name was Roland but people called him "Doc". he lived in missouri.

I don't guess I knew him. I have been in charge of the sound booth for 25 years. Was he a player on the stage or just a spectator?
Steelpicker 1 year ago
he was a spectator.

If there was ever a song that was so beautiful that didn't always require vocals... it would be Tom Brumley playing Together Again.
