Amen. These people are the very same ones who will be bitching the most when finally realize that Obama is taking away their freedom and they have been the biggest morons to hand it over to him on a silver plate.
You know, Bush sucked at being president for the most part, I'll give that away to anyone. But what is the most important thing in this country? Freedom of course (it is to me anyway). Bush kept terrorist attacks out of this country after 9/11 and took the fight to them. If you don't have Freedom, what's the point in even worrying about anything else? Second most important thing is reducing taxes. Bush did that for everyone, rich and poor.
I agree that war wasn't the best idea, but how did that take away freedom? It gave freedom to 31 million Iraqis, how is that taking freedom away? As far as taxes go, the current system is SO UNFAIR to a lot of people. Who the fuck are you to take hard earned money from people at a higher rate because they have more. The country needs a FLAT FUCKING TAX once and for all. Too many of you low-wage earners don't pay a cent, and expect money back at the end of the year. What a fucking joke...
I think you are right, let's just enjoy while we can. At this point, with 60% of the nations population under the liberal curse thinking things are moving in the right direction, there is really nothing else we can do. Let's just forget it and enjoy what we have for the little time we have it...
What "liberal curse"? Until 1964, the rich in this country were taxed up to 91% of their income (94% during WWII). Was Ameria a socialist country then? Obama is going to put it back to 39%, where it was under Clinton. Times were pretty good then, as I recall.

A bunch of fucking idiots elected Obama, not me!
The fact remains that during the period from the late '40s to the early '70s, the economy and the American middle class boomed despite heavy taxation of the wealthy. Now the middle class gets screwed while the upper class expands their wealth by 300%, then whines about having to pay 39% of their income in taxes (only 17% for their investment income, by the way, which means that many of the wealthy WHO DON'T DO ANYTHING FOR A LIVING pay less in taxes in percentage terms than those who do).
OK, I don't see the problem here. The middle class were doing fine, the upper class who worked much harder than the middle class made more money to secure their future... All I see is a bunch of jealous middle-classers who seem to think that they deserve more for working less?! If you went to college and only got a bachelor's degree, then you opted into the middle class. What about all the people who wanted more so they worked for it? The upper class still pays 80% of the taxes for the country..

Well, it certainly is a dark day now that Obama has decided to bring federal aid to agencies who murder. Euthanized, why not give up that baby for adoption? Instead you chose a path that should haunt you for life. You don't seem to care! It's all about how it would have affected YOUR life, not the baby's... it is sad to think that people in this country would rather murder their own offspring than face the responsibility of raising the child.
Obama is the man! And the truth is that the United States is not a conservative country anymore and has not been for almost two decades! Bush CHEATED and thus, it reveals that the consensus is no longer selfish conservative but more moderate. I am proud of Obama's win; In fact I still get emotional watching his victory speeech because I worked so hard during his campaign in PA.
obama will collapse the financial system and will impose the martial law and everything was allready planned for the 2012 coming of nibiru EVERYTHING IS A LIE TIC TAC BODIES THE END IS NEAR.
I think this is exactly what John Lennon had in mind as a step in the right direction when he wrote this song. If only he were alive today to see this.
I really love how everyone seems to be 'against' me and anyone who thinks that life is precious or has a right to survive from conception. Is there anyone who agrees with me that an unborn baby has rights?
FightForChangeNow, you're right when you say a citizen has the right to choose, so they should exercise that right before conception. As soon as the life has been created, the rights move from the woman to the baby. Just because the baby can't speak or communicate their desires or will to survive yet makes them no less of a person. It is our responsibility to protect that life until he/she can stand on their own two feet and speak their mind on their own. Why is this so difficult to understand?
Enough about abortion! Don't like it mofo, then don't have one! I chose to go through one with my ex...Our lives would have been hell!!! And you know what else?! The U.S. is NOT a good country to raise kids, government provides no help without a stigma and the public scrutiny behind it is unbearable! That's another reason I'm moving to France, because France is a fine country to raise children.

If people want to support someone who actually voted to allow a hospital to continue letting aborted babies die, that is amazing. So what if you are not Christian, common sense tells you that even if a baby lives through the sin of abortion, that was God's will to let that baby live, but to allow a hospital to lock the baby in a closet to die is just pure fucking evil. This is irreputable proof that Obama just doesn't care about a baby's right to live (maybe because they can't vote yet)
SkeletalReamains2 it isn't that Obama doesn't care about a babies right to live it is that he cares about a womens right to choose. Government should never ever have the right to tell it's own citizens what to do when it comes to there own body and personal family matters in a nation that calls itself land of the free. Let me guess you want that phrase changed to land of the church, THATS WHAT FLED FROM WHEN WE CAME ACROSS THE OCEAN!
It's soo good to see that the DARKSIDE of America will be in the past and that God has let in a new light into America. Those hardliners that call themselves Christians should read the Bible and learn that it teaches us to love thy neighbor and not hate. America will be shed a new light and with the world's blessings as we all witnessed on election night. This isnt the end of the US it's the new age of America for the good and I'm speaking as a Republican that voted Democrat this election.
I happened to be in Africa for work during the election and didn't arrive back in the US until two weeks afterward. I actually heard the news on a crackling car radio in the middle of a very rural village. I wish I could have been in the US, in DC where I live, to celebrate on the streets with all the others. Thank you for posting this, it helps me feel as if I were here afer all.
stephiega, you truly are a pathetic human being. We know that your brainwashed ignorance is the remnant of a 1000+ years of Christian bureaucratic dogma,w/neoconservative political manipulation thrown in and i'm sure you r a rather impotent inarticulate nobody who is direly afraid of any change to your small, inconsequential world. Believe me stephiega, us Obama voters probably would'nt give much of a shit for you either.
I think that's a good thing. I voted for Bush, twice, and he let me down. I won't make excuses for him at all. He wouldn't defend the borders for one, that's one of my huge issues with him (one of many). But, at the end of the day, what we should have is a smaller gov't, not a bigger one! Why do we need all of these programs? What we need is the people to be in power, not some idiot who wants to make gov't bigger...I just hope this is all coming down the road...and hope Obama is the man to do it
Why am I a naysayer? I didn't say I liked either candidate. I know I can't take my money with me when I die, so why should the gov't be able to take 55% of it when I die? The point is, I want to see this man do great things. I get sick and tired of people assuming that if I even question Obama that I am an outcast. Isn't it always in everyone's best interest to question everything? What if you take your kids to a new day care, aren't you going to ask questions and play devil's advocate?
While I think it is cool to see this in my lifetime, I just have to wonder if this is the president that everyone (who voted him into office) really wants! Let's wait for the rock-star status to wear off, and see how good of a president he really is. I hope with all my heart that he is a good guy and not the person that the Republicans say he is...maybe he'll be another Lincoln (the best president IMO) or another Kennedy. What scares me is the wealth redistribution that he calls "neighborly".
Yet another naysayer. Another who thinks he can take his money with him when he dies. You have to remember that Lincoln and Truman, considered two great presidents, had the lowest approval ratings in their time. And the South certainly hated Kennedy almost as much as they hated Lincoln.
The Republicans felt betrayed by Eisenhower when he rightly warned of the dangers of the "military-industrial complex." I can't help but this this person would be on the wrong end of judgments had he or she lived in those times.
tishtashtishtash 'The Republicans felt betrayed by Eisenhower when he rightly warned of the dangers of the "military-industrial complex." '
Republicans should uphold Eisenhower as one of their wisest heroes, they should make speeches and build statues in his honor. Otherwise, they are sunk.
How many times you've seen the ENTIRE world celebrating the election of an United States president... people celebrate in Argentina, Africa, Japan, Spain, Canada, Italy, Russia, Indonesia, Hawaii, Australia, Cuba, Jerusalem, Antartica, Germany (yes, Germany), Taiwan and Venezuela... that means something.
Barack Obama is the new president of the United States... be proud.. because the world is!!!
I'm here at the library, and had to go to the restroom in my inability to contain my tears of joy. What a wondeful day for us Americans! We finally rid ourselves of this right wing plutocratic, warmongering tyrant! Wish I could have been there, but this i know....my heart and soul WERE.
Isn't it amazing, that the majority people celbrating are white! I think that shows on our part that "The White Man, or The Man' is and has not been something that has not been going on for many many years. .The white people who are racist are probably just as much so as the black racists. Its time for every body to really try to come together. And I didn't vote for Obama, IT's just that I respect who he now is as we all should. A house that is devided cannot stand. We should stand strong as one
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM ȠAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Ƞ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ƞ4 life( or 4 the the next 4 to 8 yrs atleast lol )
This video is by far the coolest I've seen, regarding his victory! I would so have loved to have been in DC that night, for that historic moment...thanks for sharing.
of all the election night videos, nothing seems to capture the sheer elation as this one. every time i watch it i am right there again...you're brillant. the piece is timeless. thank you*
Thank you! It was a special moment in time and place, and I'm glad that I was able to share and preserve the moment through this video. I only wish I'd had taken with me my high-resolution video and film camera, to get a better shot of the student with the flag, because it was iconic to see her there in front of the White House. I'll just have to wait another fifty years until I happen by chance to be witnessing first hand a historic moment of global signficance : )
yeah bush declaired war on inocent people and made the whole world hate americans, a war on terror is like a war on crime, a war that cant be won.....
Obama!!! Bring our troops home! Restore our faith in the world! Fix the economy! About a dozen other things lol. I aint trying to be mean, but God I do hope he can fix shit! Obama good lucke to you Sir.
hahahaha. I didn't even recognize that. Hahaha. They were like "Damn, My homeboy McCain won't be moving in. Laura, burn my list of plans that I have for McCain. I'm going to turn off the lights"
Congratulations America! We were with you in spirit on that wonderful day! I stayed up until 6am watching the votes come in and saw them call the win on CNN and the BBC. I hope we'll get some more progressive, hopeful politicians here in Europe as a result too. Time to leave behind the nasty bigoted remnants of the 20th century and step proudly into the 21st :D
I wish the people in this video and the person who shot this could know how much pleasure my friends and family and I have taken from this. Pure art. I didn't even vote for the man and I tear up every time I watch it. Everyone I send this to is touched. I hear it in their thank yous. Thanks for letting us in on the beauty!!
My mom was watching this with me and she was shocked when the White House turned off their lights. She said, "Holy f*ck! I thought they NEVER turned off their lights. Truly, this IS a historic moment in time. And this person caught it on tape."
Check out 1:36. The white house turns off all the lights. Apparently Bush had ordered the lights to be turned off so white house would not show in the background. Could it be he was embarrassed? I hope so.
mulenga99 Videocamera-man was perfect with his timing, he got 1:35 minute(s) of girl with American flag, and lighted White House as background in the dark ...CLASSIC !
thepicrusade - If McCain had won, I would be disappointed as hell but praying for the best just the same. You lost, and you're hoping for the worst in order to prove yourself right. How sad. It's pretty obvious why the GOP went down the toilet in 08. Hope wins!
Oh really....helping people who need help, building communities, providing health care to those who need it and bringing people together is not Socialism It's common sense. Now, go back and figure out what it means to be Conservative and let us know.
This was UNREAL! At 3:30 in the morning the party was still going strong. Such an electric atmosphere. My favorite was the Pack Yo Shit! chant. Hugging, high-fiving people you never met before over an election. As a GW student, this was the cherry on top of such a great moment. Worth every minute of work for that campaign. We really brought about change, and I feel as proud as ever to be an American. Great Video!
this was amazing , i was one of the first ones here when obama clinched the presidency . amazing moment , the crowd was absolutely in a state of astonishment and jubilation.I dont think there has been an word leader in the modern era who has inspired his people more than Barack Obama has in these past few years . yes we can will be recited in schools for years to come . we have witnessed history ,weve withnessed a change in american and a change in which this country is viewed .there is now hope
Obama = all those who really love Universe Intelligent Evolution, God, Life, whatever.
Obama = a "good big star", a deep thinker and a wise political player, sent by Life to mankind for one more "step" into a better future: more human, with union, justice and intelligence .
«Yes we can» Yes we will. Hard work is getting started...
If this is what America wanted (I was one of the people) then it is the right thing. If you don't like it then you obviously don't believe in your own country, move out then.
wow, how can you know nothing about him after over a year. if you wanted to, you would have found out anything you wanted to. only problem is, you wont hear much about him that is true or positive on fox news. thats why you know nothing buddy. this is a great day for america and the world, be mad, deal with it or move. im soooo pro-bama. come on scbase, say it with me. How come its hate when I dont support Obama but if you dont support McCain thats ok, but I guess leftist are hateful, and please dont do it for me I want to live in a free country not a solcialist country which where heading into.
SCBASEBALL your remarks are all Fox News talking points, thats why you're getting slammed on here. if you spent more time digesting facts instead of regurgitating sound bites it wouldn't happen.
do you not get the point of taxes? 100 bucks extra a year isnt going to hurt you. at all. and 100 bones a yar time 300 million is going to benefit everyone in the fucking country. stop thinking for yourself and think for your country. and stop getting your facts from fox news, because they lie. Im a Journalist student in Canada's top journalism college, and its well known to all of us the true facts, and what your preaching is straight out of Rupert Murdoch's mouth. its not facts at all.
good job, someone listened to rush and oreilly. having a mind of your own might help you in gaining some kinda understanding of who he is outside of the fix news channel. im sure u'd be happy to have bush, mccain, cheney, and palin the retard running the country further into the ground. watch "iraq for sale" full video on google, u'll see why they want to stay in iraq. HALIBURTON IS MAKIN MONEY HAND OVER FIST.

1. Bush took away freedom by entering the war.
2. Took away our privacy by spying on us tapping our phones = less freedom.
3. What did our fighting accomplish?

At last there is hope and what is wrong with THAT?!
To not seek the best in humanity, is to be a deadened, wizened creature with no aspirations--no heart and no soul!
So delighted! God bless!

I think this is exactly what John Lennon had in mind as a step in the right direction when he wrote this song. If only he were alive today to see this.
Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
emilkat64850 3 years ago
Once there were no countries,
people still killed eachother,
once, and in many places, there is no religion,
people still kill eachother,
So no I can't image all the people living life in peace......
you dirty braindead hippy.

I really love how everyone seems to be 'against' me and anyone who thinks that life is precious or has a right to survive from conception. Is there anyone who agrees with me that an unborn baby has rights?
SkeletalRemains2 3 years ago

SkeletalRemains2 3 years ago
SkeletalRemains2 This vote was between someone who is pro-choice and someone else who is pro-war, ...it's a hard call for any Christian.
Yankhadenough 3 years ago 4
stop being kooky :)
greeniem 3 years ago

This isnt the end of the US it's the new age of America for the good and I'm speaking as a Republican that voted Democrat this election.
ukiahcat 3 years ago

Believe me stephiega, us Obama voters probably would'nt give much of a shit for you either.
helixjc 3 years ago
I think that's a good thing. I voted for Bush, twice, and he let me down. I won't make excuses for him at all. He wouldn't defend the borders for one, that's one of my huge issues with him (one of many). But, at the end of the day, what we should have is a smaller gov't, not a bigger one! Why do we need all of these programs? What we need is the people to be in power, not some idiot who wants to make gov't bigger...I just hope this is all coming down the road...and hope Obama is the man to do it
SkeletalRemains2 3 years ago
Why am I a naysayer? I didn't say I liked either candidate. I know I can't take my money with me when I die, so why should the gov't be able to take 55% of it when I die? The point is, I want to see this man do great things. I get sick and tired of people assuming that if I even question Obama that I am an outcast. Isn't it always in everyone's best interest to question everything? What if you take your kids to a new day care, aren't you going to ask questions and play devil's advocate?
SkeletalRemains2 3 years ago
SkeletalRemains2 I think Obama invites questioning more than Bush and Cheney. The days of fascist authoritarianism are over.
Yankhadenough 3 years ago
While I think it is cool to see this in my lifetime, I just have to wonder if this is the president that everyone (who voted him into office) really wants! Let's wait for the rock-star status to wear off, and see how good of a president he really is. I hope with all my heart that he is a good guy and not the person that the Republicans say he is...maybe he'll be another Lincoln (the best president IMO) or another Kennedy. What scares me is the wealth redistribution that he calls "neighborly".
SkeletalRemains2 3 years ago
Yet another naysayer. Another who thinks he can take his money with him when he dies. You have to remember that Lincoln and Truman, considered two great presidents, had the lowest approval ratings in their time. And the South certainly hated Kennedy almost as much as they hated Lincoln.

The Republicans felt betrayed by Eisenhower when he rightly warned of the dangers of the "military-industrial complex." I can't help but this this person would be on the wrong end of judgments had he or she lived in those times.
tishtashtishtash 3 years ago
tishtashtishtash 'The Republicans felt betrayed by Eisenhower when he rightly warned of the dangers of the "military-industrial complex." '
