  • this jetpack resently reached an altitude of 5,000 feet in an unmand flight

  • yep, spend 70k on this and you need 2 goons to stabilize the flight on both sides while flying less than 5 meters off the ground. Been browsing all over youtube and I haven't seen any videos of martin jetpacks that can fly around freely and unassisted. Not even their own trained pilots.

Looks like a high school science project to me.

  • The "Bright White Light" may not be the best selling Tactic.

  • Probably the best leafs blower available today

  • i like the other type better, at least you can carry it way easier

  • Not a lot of footage around of this fantastic machine flying, I see the website is handling orders for commercial purchases, when we will see a flight of some height and time? Give it to me and I will fly it across the channel to France, pick up my wine and fly it back, setting a world record at the same time, now there's an idea.

  • hey everyone laughed at the wright brothers and ford. im buyin one if they go on the shelf. then i can drop water ballons on all the assholes sitting in traffic down there!

  • now add an rpg

  • idk why people are bashing on this idea, its only gunna get better and more improved over the years, anyone heard of the computer? people thought that was a stupid idea and look at it now, people should try to be a but less ignorant

  • especially if it leaves a smaller carbon footprint than a car and cuts down on fuel dependency/ traffic congestion. i hear they are working on many safety features and an emergency chute.

why not? wouldnt one rather do this than commute 30 mi back n forth in congested traffic everyday? it is going to happen!

  • amin brother hahah

  • wow.

    people chill.

    Looks promising.

  • Everyone gets into a car accident sooner or later, even if just a little fender bender. We don't get second chances at altitude. Flying is not for most people. The risk to the pilot and bystanders is too high. That's why Moller's designs have been around ages with no takers! Plus, my AirHoggs 2ch heli is more stable that this thing. Sorry. Maybe try investing is more reliable sources...and feasible ones.

  • you can always make saftey devices

  • Worlds Ultimate Leaf blower. Not a jet pack by any means.

  • Not a jet pack? What do you call a Hamilton jet unit? (google that) It blows high pressure water out of the rear of a boat. They call it a jet unit and the boat, a jetboat. And that was another New Zealand invention. You yanks are suckin on sour grapes.. Just because you didn't invent it first aye. LOL

  • well it gets off the ground doesnt you u stupid yank

  • they showed it on cnn yesterday, its real.

  • ha this is my friends dad

     lol

  • Não mostraram nada no vídeo, e essa maquina continua uma liquidificador não só sai um pouco do chão, sem segurança nenhuma, deveriam inventar uma dessas menos barulhenta e movida a AR como em alguns carros já projetados.

  • Go to martinjetpack dott comm you'll get all the info on it there.

  • Is that it? 30 Seconds?

  • It is a sneak preview.

  • People waiting for their Moller Skycars should be interested in this one. The basic concept is there, but this project looks like it needs a ton of money and time to refine to something of functional value.

  • You're piece of work mate.

  • only gets 3 feet off ground...

    also needs stability control, a

    computer to control throttles like

    they use in the eurocopter-

that means you just concentrate on where you going rather than fighting for stability...

but still doesn't explain the altitude limit??

  • The only altitude limit this can possibly have is oxygen starvation for the motor, if it can get you off the ground then it has the power to lift you to any height, I guess you could get it a bit higher if you compensate with NO2, but then the pilot would be finding his lack of oxygen a problem and he would be extremely cold too.

I am surprised they didn't use a wankel rotary but then they are less efficient.

  • He's suspended from a crane!

  • Wishing you all the best with your exciting project. I Look forward to seeing the footage from todays demonstration. :-)

  • John Britten's Motorbike came out of Christchurch, New Zealand. Now Glen Martin's JetPack!! Absolutely Positively CHRISTCHURCH!!

  • Just saw it on the news and it can fly for 30min compared to the russian pack that could only fly 25sec but that was back in the 60's.

Only thing is they don't show that there's 2 guys on the side of him keeping it stable which they showed on the news but still hope he does good out of it.

  • Looks much the same as the Trek Springtail.

    Video: UcdDvplWVf8

  • wow this is amazing i want one and i live in christchurch

  • same here ; left on moorhouse ; do you deliver Martin ?? :)..over the top of seven rooftops , to your right...

  • Shot Martin, I hear your from christchurch. YEAA Yaa. Do the Lumbo run on friday night.

  • Yay, put me down for one. I hope there's a financing plan. I could do about $600 a month. :)

  • IMPRESSIVE!

    I WANT ONE!! =)

Maybe kiwi's were the first people to fly?

  • I'd be keen to fly anything that Colin helped build.

  • I SAW IT ON NEWS too!!!!!!!!!!!! GO NEW ZEALAND ENGINUITY!!!!!!! woo hoo. we rock hard out aye. im sooooo gona buy one. I dont care what the price. that would be soooooo buzzy. Imagine cruising round in that. faaaaaaaarrrrr hard to imagine. be soooo much fun

  • shot ray. your the man. saw you piloting this thing. outstanding man.

    Simon h

  • ive seen a full vid of this at the weekend and its very impressive but the only problem is they dont seem very keen to let it get very far off the ground, mayb 2 or 3 meters max or go very far for the matter.Yet is quite capable of doing so, according to one of the designers .This mayb due to the engine not fully broken in or tested and the million $ price tag for the prototype.

  • No surprise it's another back yard Kiwi just doing it. Where is the number 8 wire?

  • WOOT! Go Kiwi's

  • yea bro put new Zealand on the map

  • i seen it on news :)

    shot bro!!

  • nice i just saw on 1 news! go christchurch!!!

  • i just saw it on one news 2 go new zealand!!

  • Mentioned On One Newz In New Zealand, Shot Bro!

  • This is a teaser video. The true unveiling will be Tuesday at Osh Kosh, where we can all be really impressed. You must understand that it's not a true "jet" pack, because there is no jet, but it may bring the Bell Rocket Belt type of flight to the average citizen. This is the result of decades of research and will be sure to impress, realizing that there are fewer than 20 people in the world who get to fly like this currently. If the price is right, put me on the preorder list!

  • Thank you joelglick! Very well put. Hope to see you on Tuesday!

  • I wish I could be there! I'm missing Osh Kosh this year, but if I could be there, this would be the highlight of the show for me. I have enlisted the help of friends to witness the event and bring back whatever literature there is to offer. I hope you are either ready for production or it is not far off. Also, I hope it is priced for mere mortals like myself. This is an exciting time for those who have dreamed about this type of flight.

  • Sounds like a lot of noise pollution to me...

  • not to say the amount of gas wasted.

  • like to see you fo better!

  • I'd like to see you SPELL better, douchebag....

I just watched the actual unveiling of the jetpack at the show and it is neither revolutionary nor a JETPACK...it seems more like a leaf blower attached to your back. Sorry, folks, but I was terribly underwhelmed by the unveiling of this gas-guzzling, noise-polluting monster. Nice try, but it is just simply not practical.

  • Why has it had world wide attention then? Please tell us.. I think you're being a little premature. Lets see if he sells any. Good luck to him. There is nothing else in the world that can do what this "leaf blower" can. =) You're aloud your opinion. But I don't think your thoughts on this machine are common.

  • 5 seconds later he crashes into the hedge!

  • You must have been the pilot

  • @astanhope Sorry we aren't showing more. Saving it for the show. I'd expect to hear and see more on the 29th.

@tecaeromex You should be able to find out about the safety features very soon.

  • That is sick

  • What's up with the lame video?

Either blow us away with your amazing flying machine - or don't. I'm worried that the video is there to set our expectations LOW.

  • Wow, heard about this on KROQ's Kevin & Bean show. Heard this runs on standard unleaded gas, and is not difficult to learn to fly. I do wonder what happens if something happens while you're up in the air.

  • If something happens in the air, you say a prayer and kiss your ass goodbye!

  • Ok you now have a good flying machine just replace this two stroke engine with a turbine, after having five engine failures in a gyrocopter I don't thrust in two stroke engines, much less if you don't have any way to glide, in case of an engine failure you will fall like a rock, if you have a ballistic parachute it will not work unless you have some altitude to open the canopy, good luck in Oshkosh!!

  • The ultimate grocery getter

  • Will be in Oshkosh to check it out! Can't wait

  • I REALLY want to try this thing out. Would be a childhood dream come true.
