  • you guys did a great job, make no mistake! but on the high notes, someone is outrageously sharp.

  • Union Now And Forever!

  • we did this at gettysburg to raise money for our flag. the yankee wanted to play a few northern songs so we let him join us and he helped us raise money for the flag. Dylan is not wearing a hat because he put it on the ground so people would put money in it for the flag.

  • @1rebeljlk Good job. I hope you raised enough money!

  • there was a rebel version

  • the confederates had a version of the song

  • awesome video nice song too :)

  • Rally Around The Flag...

  • Wait why are confederates playing the battle cry of freedom. however they played it really well.

  • They've been infiltrated by a Yankee. ;)

  • @LegallyMoi The confederates had their own version of the battle cry of freedom (you can find videos of their version here on youtube!)

  • @LegallyMoi The confederacy had their own lyrics to the song. it is a beautiful song no matter which side plays it

  • @LegallyMoi It's because the Battle Cry of Freedom wasn't just a Union Song, the lyrics were changed by the southerners and it was also used as a Confederate Song.

  • @LegallyMoi there was also a Southern version, "Our Dixie for ever she is never at a loss, down with the eagle and up with the cross" ( the cross of St. Andrew) many songs had Southern versions.

  • I know Conner and Dylan both from Fife and Drum school at Fort Delaware. They are good friends of mine. Great video. I play the fife.

  • I remember these guys from '08!

  • The third person from the left is a male. He's Dylan Sheffer of the West Augusta Guard. He has long hair and feminine features. I performed with him in 2008 at the Veteran's Day parade in Staunton, Virginia.

  • OH! My apologies to Mr. Sheffer. He is an excellent fifer!

  • @eringobragh915

haha thank you guys, i didn't realize how pretty I am ;)

  • GO WAG! -Ben Miller

  • Are these Gettysburg College students?

  • I have no idea!

  • there's a group called 12th Louisianastringband & Benevolence Society. they have this song on there CD/Tape. well worth checking into. the CD/Tape is called Southern Songs of Love and War. There on line and the CD is nice price too

  • i thought that rally round the flag and battle cry of freedom were two completely different songs. i could be wrong because its been awhile since i have played but i was pretty sure they were not the same.

  • there not the same just the same tune with diferent words

  • "Rally Round the Flag" is a whole different tune.

  • This is actually the confederate version. I saw these guys too at Gettysburg the other year.

  • I saw these guys last year!!

  • Google says they are, but I think I have seen another song also called "Rally 'Round the Flag" that did not have the same lyrics.

  • They are the same song. But there are two slightly different versions, a Union version and a Confederate version.

  • So why are the drummers playing Connecticut Halftime??

Isn't there a part? Don't mean to be picky...was just looking to hear an origional drum part of Battle Cry.

  • I have no idea what Connecticut Halftime is or why the drummers may or may not be playing the wrong thing. All I know is I recognized the tune as Battle Cry of Freedom.

  • whats a yank doin there? lol. is the 3rd guy in fom the left wearin a hat???

  • The Yank walked by and offered to sort of jam with them. This same group was in Yank-wear the day before.

The third guy from the left is a girl, and she is not wearing a hat. :)

  • shout, shout the battle cry of freedom

  • excellent ive heard many fife drum over the years this well mixed dum not beating over fifes
