What's wrong with sulphate shampoos? Just curious.
My conditioner is sulphate free but my shampoo isn't and probably never will be. My hair would probably love it if it wasn't but I know my scalp would hate it if I changed shampoos.
(I have psorasis on my scalp, and the only shampoos my scalp likes are the Lush solid ones, Soak & Float and Ultimate Shine)
@AranelEnMirkwood This is how sulfates were explained to me: They're basically the chemicals that are used to create the lather we all associate with shampoo and cleanliness, but its also the same stuff we find in dish soap and laundry detergent. It's effective, but harsh, especially when it comes to people. I read an article by a doctor once, discussing how he was confounded when he discovered how so many of his younger patients were losing their hair earlier and earlier in life. Cont.....
@AranelEnMirkwood ...Sulfate free shampoo provides the cleanliness to one's hair and scalp, without stripping away natural oils that our bodies need. It was disconcerting for me at first when I switched because there isn't the same lather, but I noticed right away that my hair was less dry, I had less split ends and it was just healthier and more manageable in general! HOWEVER, one of my best friends has psoriasis on his scalp too, and I think that if you have found something that takes, cont...
@AranelEnMirkwood...care of that issue for you, then you should stick to it, or listen to your doctor. I don't think sulfate free would hurt you though, and I can't imagine it wouldn't clean your scalp, so if you decide to give it a shot, I don't think it'll bother you. I've heard complaints from some women saying they sulfate free doesn't work to get all the build up from styling products out - but I don't use any really, and I think this is easily remedied with a once a week cleansing, cont...
@AranelEnMirkwood....shampoo. I think most of it is preference! When you find something you love, stick with it. I really enjoy my sulfate free shampoos now, I find they are way less drying on my naturally light colored and thin hair! But my husband prefers his John Frieda stuff! To each his own!! Sorry for the long comment!
@AranelEnMirkwood I know what you mean. I learned from a gf who's a professional hairdresser, and she learned in school, so she's kind of my "go-to" when I have questions. I wish I could remember where I read that article so I could pace the link on. The Doctor who wrote it, suggested that young people lost their hair due to stress, but that sulfates contributed in weakening the hair shafts too, making it worse!
If you find jojoba oil too heavy to leave in, you could try an even lighter oil like camellia oil or broccoli seed oil and use about 1 drop on the length :)
@celebriangel Really? I've never heard of either and I'll have to look them both up! I'm allergic to coconut which I've been told is great too, so I'm always on the look out now for things that are more natural. I've learned so much from all you gals! In six months I'll probably have another hair routine! :) It's always changing as I learn more!
Thank you so much for uploading this video, it was really useful =)
There is a girl here on youtube (Loepsie) who is also from the LHC and she always mentions coconut oil so I gave it a try and I love it, she recommended me to use castor oil to help my hair grow. I've been using both of them since May and my hair has grown about 4.5 inches since then!!!
I'm so happy cuz it's always been difficult for me to grow my hair and it feels thicker! I'll definitely keep on using them <3
@viloy101 I'm a HUGE fan of Loepsie! She's great! Love her!! And such a pretty face!
I've actually watched the video you're referring to, and I agree, so helpful, but I have a very strange and unusual allergy to coconut! I'm so glad its working for you and thank you so much for recommending! But if I use it I'll get sick! :( Sucks because it smells SO nice!
She had no idea what you were saying in the video (she doesn't speak English) but I enjoy sharing your tips with her and practicing your amazing hairstyles on my sisters' hair or on my mom's hair =)
btw, sometimes I give them a hair mask using hot olive oil and it works great on them, it doesn't smell as good as jojoba oil but if you ever run out of it, olive oil would be a great choice =D
Yay! I'm so glad the jojoba is working so well for you as an overnight treatment! I have super-fine, curly hair, so I tend to saturate my hair and stick it in a bun and sleep on it, too, and it really has done wonders for my hair.
I love the idea of a jell-o a day, too... that's just something that would make me smile, regardless of whether it helped my hair or not! :)
@silvertales Thank you again for recommending it! I do the same thing with the bun overnight, and it feels so soft and healthy the next day! It's been the best stuff I've ever used and I wish I'd known about it sooner!
And who doesn't like jello, right? LOL I'm glad you enjoyed that tip! Try the strawberry flavored ones! They're lovely! :)
@ytb40 Thank you so much for the compliment, I'm really trying hard to keep it nice! I never used to care this much, but the gals on LHC have really taught me so much and totally have influenced my hair decisions! Thank you again for the comment!
@StellaLilly Well I AM from NYC! I never hear my accent, but I guess I do have one!! And thank you for the clarification! I've never heard it pronounced that way though!
@LaDollyVita33 Nobody pronounces it right unless you live near a Mexican-immigrant dominated region. My mom has a sister-in-law who's Mexican and uses it a lot which is why she knows how to say it.
I moved around a lot, so I can pick out accents really easily. I have really proper American English from speech therapy, but you can hear Southern (Texan) with some words. The Texan comes out really strong if you make me mad or catch me when I'm tired.
@fdoeppen Of course! Its so fun to make them, I truly enjoy this online community and I look forward to everyone's comments as well! I'm glad you enjoy them, thank you so much for the feedback!

@tinti1984 Aww that sucks! Well I'm excited you tried and I look forward to hearing some of your tips and routine too! I hope it catches on with the LHC girls too - could be a great video reference to anyone who needs help figuring out a new routine!
@LaDollyVita33 thank you! I'll redo it (with fully charged phone) in a little while. Yeah, that would've been fun, and we have so many different hair types and lenghts so it could be something for everyone.
@tinti1984 That was my idea! I hope it works a little! LOL So far I think you and maybe one other girl will do it, but I'm not sure if anyone else is up for it!
@emmaperreault91 Because jello is made form gelatin, which is fantastic for hair, skin and especially nails! You can also find it in pill and powder form!
I love how our hair is almost the same. I have the same colour and mine is maybe half an inch longer than yours and we have the same thickness and everything is the same ! It's amazing ! :) btw I love you and your videos. =)

And its so funny you noticed the crockpot! We only just got it, and actually its something my husband wanted. I haven't really touched the thing since it was purchased, although it seems like a useful kitchen tool! I am totally interested in recipes and websites! I'm totally going to the FB page right now!!! :)

@slht1977 Want to hear something hilarious! I wasn't paying attention the other day and I burned the crap outta my ear with a curling iron! So my ear WAS burning!
