  • In a few years time Denmark is going to choose a new fighter. We have SAAB JAS-39NG, F-18 E/F, F-35 JSF in the contest. Recently it was decided that also EF Typhoon should be among the contesters. Eventhough I am a fan of SAAB, I really hope we will by the Typhoon. For me it is the most capable aircraft (And after all we actually had a danish testpilot, Chris Worning on the german EF program in Mancing). Greetings from Copenhagen.

  • So relieved to see that they are all wearing the latest in Health & Safety reflective work vests....but where are the traffic cones and divertionwarning signs....and the "loud noise" warnings......the DOT will be citing them for that.

  • The Fod' ers at play.

  • ok...let's practice this again. Hang onto the flight plan, man. And ground crew...spend some time in the gym so you can pull the chocks faster?

  • This "photo-op" drill doesn't inspire the same level of aerial defence confidence that the old Lightening scrambles - or even the Phantom scrambles used to give. Man they WERE quick back in the 70's

  • @tomburley because the sovs are really flying back then. today, the sovs are mostly doing airshow.

  • @lanunselat So does that mean that the RAF need not train and prepare o the same level then? The reason that the scramble was effective back then is because the attitude was "Live drill" not "Do a scramble but don't take it seriously becase the former potential enemy is busy doing airshows"!!

  • @tomburley funding is easy back during the cold war. Pilots fly more often and scrambled more often since soviets regualrly send it's bombers over north sea. Today, there's cut back everywhere to save cost and since education and healthcare are vote winning tools but not defence, so we see the military bore the brunt of the cutbacks.

  • @lanunselat Yeah - thanks for the neat and tidy explanation as to why the military suffers every time inept government tries to dig itself out of the hole it continually digs for itself. If only all the money spent on Healthcare and Education actually improved either service. It seems that nowadays everyone wants & expects the slowly shrinking working population to kep funding ever increasing government spending - especially on those that opt not to work. Great system isn't it?

  • What is that green in the jet ?

  • @bluediver2 its the pilots head-up display

  • @bluediver2 it's the HUD (heads up display)

  • She's so beautiful and lethal. Looks like a shark to me. What a masterpiece of engineering.

  • Finally, a fellow lincolnshire. I'm not for from Coningsby (kind of) as im in Scotter! Yer i'm seen them before, but thanks for the upclose vid. Thanks for the upload!

  • "Honey I've said a million times back the jet in to the garage! How hard is this?"

  • Hellenic Air-force does it yet again. They have just won all the combat exercise in the latest NATO military exercises held in Spain last week April, 2011.This is on top of the other big win which was RED FLAG 2008 where they destroyed US Air-force in a kill ratio of 18:3. The so called best air-force and its top-guns, was their first loss and never had it been so bad.Further more the best NATO Pilot for the third time was Charalambos Eskioglou. Hellenic Airforce leaves the rest for dust!

  • wow they had it in the air in like 30 seconds!

  • it is not the pilot who exactly drop all those cards, it is done by one of the so-called crew who runs in front and cross run him later...Watch closely !!

  • @imaplaystationfanboy more nukes? yes nice rusty ones. troops?? no. guns? no. nothing you said does Russia have more than American other than their crap nukes. The end.

  • @imaplaystationfanboy Still the fact you think Russia has overtaken America in the arms race?? I can't help but laugh

  • @lockyuk2000 Braver than your pussy dumb arse will ever be my friend :)

  • You never put rubber chocks touching tyres. Learnt that in 1983 on the Tornado's. Only 24 years before this video was made !!!!!!!!!!!

  • After 20 years in the RAF, all I can say is worst QRA in history. Our lives in their hands

  • @hoobler we have aroud 300 in action but an estimate of 2000 to be made, now that the torandos and harriers are out of action.

  • how many typhoons do we have now?

  • Russia attacking the UK? you COD fanboys need to get out of your bedrooms and look into modern day politics, freakin' idiots.

  • @TheMrbigcheese Russia won't attack us, but they're always probing our airspace to the north.

I remember hearing a story from a Tornado pilot from Lossiemouth. They used to fly alongside the Russian bombers and hold up page 3 from the Sun newspaper. One day the Russians replied by holding up some pictures of tractors!!

  • @PrivateCustard hahaha that actually made laugh :D i heard that the reason they probe our airspace is to test our aerial responses, i highly doubt they will actually invade us, why would they? we aren't threatening them and if they do it would spark world war 3, who in the right mind wants to do that?!

  • What is all this if Russia attacks the UK we are screwed and stuff stemming from? For one the UK has Nuclear subs, which would then counter nuke the offender, (there is allways one nuclear sub hidden in the deep) ensuring MAD, Mutually Assured Destuction, which is why WW3 has not happend..... for a couple of years anyway :)

  • apparently UK US alliance is bible prophecy lol..if your religious..its the last world power....only one more dominant world power from the east will oppose them....and apparently they wont really clash but turn attention to something else much bigger ....according to certain christians...

  • "possible nuclear war"....fuck I dropped my shopping list

  • @imaplaystationfanboy

    overtaken America ..?

  • @imaplaystationfanboy ruyssia usa britain china france noe of them will ever square off in war. way to much money to be made selling weapons to other little countries and let them scrap it out. besides they would nuke any country that was invading them. then the other guy nukes back we all die. No money in that.

  • @imaplaystationfanboy Dont worry, Russia will never attack UK. Just recently Russia Praised Royal Navy Vets with Russian Medals for there Bravy and there contribution to helping Russia in WW2. Were OK with Russia.

  • Too damn slow and the jock dropped his papers n "scrambled" to pick them up! LOL!

  • hi i dont know if anyone wud be able to help me im 6ft3 am i too tall to pilot one of these fighter jets ?

  • its obviously set up and acted. but its showing you how they would react in a real emergancy :)

  • From the amount of cuts and different camera angles in this video, I'm guessing it isn't real...nice to know the lads are literally ready to drop everything in that situation though!

  • He drops all of his documents! Haha.

  • I saw that ,I bet he feels a right spud!!

  • I bet! Especially after going through that selection process, I bet even the RAF feel like spuds for letting the bugger through!

Imagine if that was a real scramble, we'd all be fucked.

  • Ha, SAC(T) Buntin!!! Stood around with your hands in your pockets!! And.... i never knew you could run!!!

  • I think it is all set up because when they all run out they all start in a line from the same place....but I dont really know

  • Why dont they show the excellent Swedish/British fighter the Gripen! Its a British/Swedish project nowadays and the Empire testpilots school bought 8 of them?

  • Not sure but I think my cousin Dale is in this film, not seen him for a while so not sure, if so hope your well mate.

  • hahahaha

  • I saw this back in 2007, still makes me laugh how the pilot drops his papers at 0.12 seconds. You can hear his co-workers laugh.

  • The F-35's stealth is touted as a big advantage, but Kemp says that "stealth alone is not the answer to survivability." The Gripen's speed and maneuverability, Kemp says, as well as "superior defensive technology," make it much tougher to shoot down than the F-35.

  • bullshit with a capital B

  • I was only refering to an aircraft-developer and former British test-pilot!

  • i dnt like f-35's chances vs any 4th gen fighter!!! waste of money

  • time will tell

  • @townclose what papers are those, instructions, stik back nose up stick forward nose.....

  • @nolifemerc They're probably the latest M.O.D. notes on cost savings and recommendations on how to scramble fuel efficiently with minimum ware and tear on the aircraft!!!

  • is this real? Or just a drill type thing

  • suggest melchersson and mr true check the grippen site and then "media relations,news,2008" where there is an article about the ETPS operating Gripens...Swedish ones from Swedish bases...not British ones from British bases

  • The ETPS uses the following types of aircraft: * Aérospatiale Gazelle * Agusta A109E * BAC One-Eleven * BAe Hawk * Beagle Basset * Dassault-Breguet/Dornier Alpha Jet * Hawker Hunter *No longer used* * Hawker Siddeley Andover * Mil Mi-17 * North American Harvard * Saab JAS 39 Gripen * Short Tucano * Westland Lynx * Westland Sea King

  • ETPS also use aircraft loaned from RAF frontline squadrons if required..the Gripen is the only one not operated in the UK at present....ETPS also has exchange programmes with the schools in the US and France

  • The School bought 8-10 aircrafts so I presume they will be based in the UK! I guess this learning period at place in Sweden, were necessary since you guy´s didn´t have a Gripen simulator!

  • Comment removed

  • And by the way I´m Swedish/British with a Swedish mother! So I can be objective in this matter.

  • And i'm portuguese!! :-) Portuguese Air Force operate F-16 right now, and i know the plane very well. Like i said, it is a mid-life fighter, we are already thinkin of a replacement. We didn't choose the gripen or typhoon because we have an agreement with US, i'm talkin about Lajes AB in the Azores. Politics......

  • I cant wait for the new updated version of Saab Gripen! Gripen(Griffin) is extremly underated! "Gripen is slightly better than the F16!" Our old J 35 Draken (Dragon) were comparable with the F-16 and we took it out of service for 20 years ago! F16is a joke!

  • Well F-16 is a mid life plane, you right but not a joke at all!!! The know blocks are good enough.

    Cheers

  • Yeah your right! But when I hear that Gripen is "Slightly" better than the F-16 I got pissed!!

  • Agree with beatnikful! You British are a part of the Gripen project why dont you take more interrests in it? You guys got 10 of these excellent fighters at the Empire test-pilots school and you should really get them into service in RAF!

  • There are NO Gripens at the ETPS at Boscombe Down...very occasional visitors maybe but none based there..BaE pilots may be assigned to SAAB in Sweden but again there are no Gripens based in the UK

  • It says so in the Wikipidea and this Mr Pike who´s a pilot or works in the RAF here on youtube claimed there were 10 gripens there!

  • and mrtrue if you continue reading the Wikipedia article it says that UK ETPS pilots fly the Gripen from Linkoping...that is Linkoping in Sweden not Linkoping in the UK

  • But I hope you know realize that you have Gripen

    In the UK?

  • No I don't because we have'nt...the UK pilots go to Sweden to fly Gripens..there are none here in the UK...

  • I am sorry! I did get to engaged and might have said something offensive?

  • This is a headline from a British aircraft news paper: UK's Empire Test Pilots' School completes first Gripen flying campaign for 2005! Just search for the damn information instead of just assume things!!!

  • I'm not assuming anything mrtrue...a Grippen was douing trials work at Boscome Down in 2005 but there as far as I know been no Grippen visiting there this year and there certainly is'nt any based there so I suggest you "search for the damn information" yourself instead of "just assume things"

  • There are Gripens at the test pilots school! My uncle works there and yeas, why shouldn´t there be? We help to manufacture the planes!

  • sorry but you are totally wrong there are NO REPEAT NO Grippens based at Qinentiq at Boscombe Down..the last visit of a Grippen to the base was approximately a year or more ago...I don't know what you uncle thinks he saw but it is'nt a Grippen...or is he actually in Sweden not the UK

  • I am a dual citizen of Sweden and England I might have misunderstood? He told me the School were about to purchase the Gripen!

  • I think the aircraft are loaned from the Swedish Airforce for the two courses a year...for the limited use it would not be cost effective to purchase them

  • England has a Gripen as a half way trainer between the hawk and EF2000

  • I know that they bought 8 of them but someone said they had them based in Sweden? It says in the Wikipedia that the School got 8 Gripens!

  • Some minor parts of Gripens are of UK manufacture Melchersson but they are actually manufactured (i.e. put together) in Sweden not the UK

  • If we have all 200 aircraft on standby for the russians whos gonna give air support to the guys in afganistan and 200 on standby sat their doing nothing while the Russians plan never to invade is a waste of money and talent.

  • I would love to work on the eurofighter

  • There is always four QRA on standby 24/7 365 days a year fuelled and fully armed at the moment 2 at RAF Coningsby and 2 at Raf Leuchars as soon as 2 are scrambled another 2 are fuelled and armed so that they are always 4 on standby.

  • theres always 4 on standby?, what happens then if the russians send all of there 3000 aircraft to attack the uk at once?????

  • Fair point but at the moment Nato have a lot more serviceable aircraft than the russian and I think it's

not the russian we should be watching.

  • there should be atleast 200 on standby at all times, not 4 and who do you think we should be watching then, china?

  • By the time they're noticed on radar we'd have contacted allied european countries such as France to help out.

  • we should be watching them a few month ago the RAF had to scramble a few planes to get them out of our airspace

  • The Russians have Communism on their side too!....urgh...Communism. We'll have no shared wealth and overalls on this side of Europe thank you very much! lol

  • Russia are not a commy country any more, china is (god knows how because we trade with them) and so is cuba

  • he should just be able to take off straight on......

  • more people doing it the faster it will be plus safer it will be so does it really matter the uk government can afford to have 20 people launching one plane doesn't really matter

  • Well im alone whith a F-16. Always. Im the supervisor, man A and B.

  • How many does it take to lanch a Tyhoon?? I work alone on my viper, also on a QRS. This video is heavily edited. Rated one star

  • PMSL at him dropping his FRCs..That video is heavily edited, how about we see a video of exactly how long it takes from klaxxon to taxi?

  • lol at 00:14 :) ^^

  • lol luckily the jet engine are not in function... :)

  • see anyone try to come into british air space they will have them to fight off

  • SOMEONE TALK TO ME

why cant i see the video Ib

  • good video but i think it was a practice. lol

  • Oh Dear!

  • Bet another russian came in to british airspace, thats why this scramble is happening!

  • it happens almost every day

bombers come on over on patrol

but we tell them to fuck off LOL

  • every day? no it doesn't :\. as part of 101 sqn - we go up whenever it happens, and i can't even remember the last one... and i had to work xmas day because of it.

  • lucky you

shoot them up when its your turn

dont want any of those inferior bear bombers over here

  • were any aircraft scrabled over manchester on christmas because me and my stepdad(EXRAF Pilot) saw 3 red lights in the sky, and from his aircraft knowledge they wern aircraft, they were in a triangle formation and very accurate, moved accross the sky and vanished, 2 mins later a 4th light came past moved at same speed and vanished in the same place, me my mum n stepdad saw them and my uncle at the other side of manchester, im just wondering if you guys got any callouts to anything like that

  • nope, definitely not. the idea is the jets go up before they get anywhere near the uk. can't help with the lights i'm afraid.

  • yeah there deffinatly not aircraft and they were also spaooted above the A6 in stockport a week before we saw them, anyway i was just wondering if u had any callouts to anything like it, cheers anyway.

  • also my stepdad was telling me about the QRA being launched to the north sea because some russian 'bear' bombers we picked up on radar. QRA's F3's soon to be replaced by the Typhoon

  • no problem.

yeah, whenever the qra is launched, it's normally the russians, so it will be over the north sea, and it's always the bears.

... also, the typhoons are already the qra capability. have been for a while now. f3's will be out of service soon.

  • tally ho ,chaps!!!

  • Bloody hell. More frikin Tupolevs.

  • And now, my comment on the video;

Nice jet. Gotta get me one of those.

  • a nice jt indeed, ill be flying in 1 soon

  • I'm reading yet another typing war that has nothing at all to do with the video -which is presumably why we post comments here - about the video -you know - the fighter jet?...

Yet, on virtually every video I've checked out from music, to movies, to fighter jets, there is some tit for tat bickering over -what, perceived errors? A 'wrong' statement?

If everyone actually responded to a poster named maureenOWW,who has proudly announced he has a penis, we'd all be suckers. Let us all ignore them now

  • haha the guy dropping his papers is pretty funny..he was probably like "SHIT! SHIT!"

  • lol look @ all the FOD!!!

  • my dad used to work there coz he got posted then he got posted to waddington

  • lol the guy that dropped the paper is this real or just a drill?

  • o my got dropping mission note is well bad lol. i feel real sorry for that dude. but hey he is a pilot so respect.

  • oh dear!!!

  • russians would rather pick on georgians....they dont like britain cuz of the american alliance...they wont do anythin to britain.

  • The Russians used to practice frequent bombing runs into our airspace until they ran out of money...Now they're funding has come back... I was up at Leeming last week and speaking to a pilot there and apparently the practice runs have started again!!!

  • @blademanx same as they wouldnt do anything to the US because of the British alliance..

  • a typhoon is not sat at the end of a runway 24/7 there is a typhoon sat on standby, but that isnt new there has always been a fighter sat on standby.

  • Maureen, you sound like a right arrogant bitch. Cuntflap is a terrible insult... infact, I think the only reason you're sad enough to come on You Tube and put people half your age down is because you're pissed off at the fact no one's wanted to stick their cock in your flakey cuntflaps since you were his age.

  • That would be extremely presient and concise of you, if it weren't for the fact I have a fucking penis.

    But nice try dear.

  • ffs I spelled prescient wrong, please feel free to lampoon me for the next 5 hours or so. Cuntflap.

  • peeps we did scramble one after a russian bomber entered our terrorty and then we led it back

    i ws shit scared

  • Haha, why did they use that take when that little cunt drops all his gash on the floor when he runs to the spaceship?

  • Hahaha, that was a pilot, I pissing myself laughing with him dropping all his mission notes and the other paperwork.

  • who knows but it makes me want 2 join even more 4 some reason!

  • pride? lol

  • Is this a genuine scramble or a practice rehearsal?

  • Practise... no missiles...

  • You sure, mate? I was told that there is a sidewinder port side forward fuselage.

  • practice, u know there is a typhoon sat waiting like that manned and fully loaded 24/7 waiting at the end of a runway

  • I didn't know that, mate. That would be at RAF Coningsby?

  • it was shortly after the 7/7 attacks, it was on bbc news that there is going to be a typhoon fully loaded sat waiting at the end of a runway 24/7, i dont think it said where abouts because of security reasons but you would think its probably in lincolnshire somewhere but hey just a guess, peace.

  • Thanks for the reply, mate.

  • Its not at RAG Coningsby, think its 69Squadron thats going to Aghanistan next year.. Oh well theres a development squadron there to that tests new weapons. How I know? My Grand parents live 20minutes from the base so we go there sometimes :) 3Weeks last week!

  • In Response To The Nuclear War Stuff, The Typhoon Is NOT A Nuclear Weapons Aircraft.

  • Bahh.... This jet is amazing... but its just a deadly machine designed to kill people.... I wouldnt aspire to fly it.....

  • i marsheda scramble start at work exeriecnce =D

  • uh uh tht eurofighter omg uuhhhhh...jst came ;)

  • Hahahahah the pilot drops loads of papers

  • The cold war wasn't that long ago, and Russia isn't the only threat that could come from the air...

Never be caught with your pants down when you got the resources sitting there to be trained and excercised.

  • The Russians arent going to bomb us now there testing us its like if a kid in a playground trips another one and the other kid doesnt do anything the kid will do it again then a punch then two then god knows what we have done is when the russians come into our air space we show a sign of resistance and what we were basically saying is you dont scare us its Britains way of showing strength

  • they could hit us at any moment because for one they have the troops two they have the weapons and three they don't really like us

  • ye man them russians keep comin over uninvited we should start shootin them down lol

  • staged and quite unimpressive

  • What do you want them to do, set off some fireworks and dance the fandango?

  • Forget the paper work thats for office boys !.

    3 F QRA top sqn.

  • thats great

but can you stop doing it at 10 oclock at night and then flying over my house please

    cheers

    MARK

  • You got a choice here. You can have this, or you can have some Russian bomber blow your house up.

    Dumbass.

  • Yes, because the russians really want to blow up his house. That's really in their strategic interests.

    You insane 1980's fuckwit.

  • 1) I was born in 1990, so that rules out the '1980's fuckwit' bit.

2)If we don't challenge the Russian bombers that keep testing our airspace, who's to say they won't bomb his house?

    Knob off, 'maureen'

  • Hmm, I meant 1980's MINDSET, you dozy fuckwit. You know, the cold war?

    2) WHY would russia waste time and money bombing his house??? Are you insane? What possible gain could they get, apart from global thermonuclear war??? (which they would lose)

  • Hmm, I meant 1980's MINDSET, you dozy fuckwit. You know, the cold war?

    2) WHY would russia waste time and money bombing his house??? Are you insane? What possible gain could they get, apart from global thermonuclear war??? (which they would lose)

  • If you meant that, why didn't you say that? Don't go trying to change the argument to suit you, it's a sign of a bad loser :p

Oh, and as for the second point? You might ask what the Germans got from the Blitz in WW2. What possible gain...? But they still did it! Point is the Russians are testing us, if we don't respond, who's to say they won't start a war?

Oh, and Russian wouldn't lose Global Thermonuclear War - everyone would.

  • I did say that, I assumed even a child would understand what I meant, you truly vapid fucknut.

The germans carried out the Blitz as both propoganda and psychological warfare. Are you too stupid to look in a book and find this out for yourself???

The Russians are not 'testing us' they are carrying out simple propoganda in order to make the russian people vote for them in elections (which of course worked, if you actually watch any international news).

  • Ah Maureen. Such a sore loser aren't you?

No, you didn't say that. And if I, an English A level student couldn't see what you meant, what chance has a child? Don't delude yourself, you're clutching at straws.

And how would doing this earn Putin votes? If you watched the international news, as you suggest you do, you would know Putin ordered these bomber patrols. How could it earn him votes when he wasn't even running in the election? And even if it is just propaganda, why shouldn't we respond?

  • LOL an A level english student? That means you ARE a child, you halfwit. I have 2 English degrees - you know, from a 'University'. The reason you didn't understand what I meant is because you are too young to remember the cold war, again, because you are a child. I grew up in the 1970's, dear.

His protege won the election, and they used film of these bomber missions in their party political broadcasts. Or are you disagreeing with the BBC, CNN, and every other political analyst in the world.

  • You have 2 English degrees, you're 30 odd and you're still immature enough to go picking fights and insulting people on Youtube? Jesus. If you went to University and have 2 English degrees, and yet 'fucknut' and 'halfwit' are the best insults you can come up with, daddy wasted a lot of money.

  • Daddy? I paid for myself, you insane nutjob. I can come up with better insults, how about 'cuntflap'?

So bascially you've been proved wrong in everything you said, and so you attempt personal insults to try and get out of it.

We can all see you're a thick cocklord, please just be quiet and I'll stop cyber-raping you, okay son?

    Nighty-Night.

  • global thermonuclear war....key word, global, we would all die

  • Actually Ant, the Germans got a lot from the Blitz. Theres a thing called, wait for it, psychological warfare.

  • Try 1960's, buit realistically Russinas never wanted to blow anybody's house, didn't think they were suicidal.
