And yeah I agree the industry is not what it used t be but that doesn't start and end with Beyonce. First of all Beyonce is talented and songs like "1+1" and "Dangerously in love" capture the essence of what makes r&b so beautiful. Mediocre singers like Rihanna and Beiber are what ruin the industry. And i'm sure the 80s kids who grew up on Janet were not too fond of Aaliyah when she was starting out in the 90s. Once again I like Aaliyah but she was not the savior of the industry.

They featured Try Again in the best songs of the decade list, On in a Million was listed as one of the best albums of the 90's (Top 100) and they commented saying it was a key moment in R&B Destiny's Child wasn't even featured on that list, they also named her last album 'Aaliyah' the best R&B album of 2001. So I think you should do some research before you comment.

Why is it that they can't both have been sucessful...Beyonce is a success, Alicia Keys is a success, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are successes...Mariah and Whitney were sucesses at the same time....why do people act like there is only room for one artist in the industry. And yeah I agree the industry is not what it used t be but that doesn't start and end with Beyonce. First of all Beyonce is talented and songs like "1+1" and "Dangerously in love" capture the essence of what makes r&b so beautiful. Mediocre singers like Rihanna and Beiber are what ruin the industry. And i'm sure the 80s kids who grew up on Janet were not too fond of Aaliyah when she was starting out in the 90s. @KinksDoll timbaland actually didn't produce much on the last album and what he did was awesome but he did say it was rushed and it did appear that way.. beyonce is kinda hit or miss with me i like a song here or there but I'm fair about it she may not be one of my faves but that doesn't mean she isn't a good artist she's very talented.. ciara seems like a sweet girl but she NEVER was/will be near Aaliyah and cassie has no business being in this conversation that hoe is a joke and a half

@KinksDoll i was thinking the same thing actually regarding her acting i think she was really gonna get big on that end as well but she her music was still progressing as well her last album was far ahead of its time and honestly i see what you see in reverse with ppl acting like beyonce is immortal and everyone else sucks when I'm sure there are plenty of fans that like both her and Aaliyah and frankly its unfair to put up a body of work that has an ending against another that is still ongoing

@KinksDoll i dont even dislike beyonce i just think she is overrated but i respect her as an artist and i leave it at that cuz as evidence from the video her and Aaliyah were cool and just outta respect for her i dont wanna come off like I'm bashing her cuz thats not the type of person she was i stick by my original statement cuz i honestly dont think she would be as big as she is however it IS an opinion and i dont feel like it came off disrespectful and if it did it wasnt intentional at all

@KinksDoll the only reason why i solely dedicated it to beyonce fans is because most of the people on here ARE beyonce fans , and their the ones who have been saying it.. listen i respect peoples opinions especially when it comes to music but what you said WAS disrepectful 'some girl who died years ago' referring to her like she's nothing or she's irrelevant.. im sorry thats disrespectable if it was someone who you knew personally or something you would not like it.

@KinksDoll Beyonce isn't all that either, she's just a great performer, and has good music, it isn't like anything genius is going on with her. I love Beyonce's music, and her as a performer but Beyonce does not start trends or neither is she that original. Bey is a veteran in the game, she just happen to have growth, and she shot for higher fame than her peers from the 90's, that's why she seems larger than all else. The only thing that stopped Aaliyah was death.

@KinksDoll well in my book and many others' Aaliyah was and still is all that i never said it wasn't my opinion just like "Beyonce > Aaliyah" and "Personally, I don't think Aaliyah would have stopped Beyonce's career. Aaliyah was cool but she wasn't all that like people gas her up to be" is your opinion. i feel opposite but i can still be mature about it and respect your opinion. every artist's career is technically based on opinion cuz if no one like them they wont have any level success at all

jeez , just chill with the negativity. I am a mega STAN for Beyonce, but I also appreciate Aaliyah as well. I'm not that much into her, but she was a great performer/singer I'll give her that.
There shouldnt even be a discussion. These women are both amazing and talented and GREAT in their own ways. They were close friends & Beyonce was crushed to learn that Aaliyah had passed. Please chill out w. the comparissions. They're friends for godness sake.

I mean I don't have NOTHING against her, really I don't. However, Beyonce is just way more talented and successful. She has won SO many awards, and is continuing too.

@LizzieDoodle16 Uh...more successful? Aaliyah died at 22, had 7 movie roles lined up, 3 multiplatunum albums, and she was a trendsetter. Beyonce is only more successful because she lived longer, Beyonce is 30, she had the time to accomplish more.On Aaliyah first two albums she was 15 and 17, so no one could really take her serious yet but her albums still went platinum. Aaliyah graduated school with a 4.0 grade average, then came back to music at 22 about to taking over, don't got there.

Beyonce is considered a woman to be reckon with. She can act, dance, design and dance. She has been in the music industry for a long time and is still high on her game. Both got talents in there on way, but beyonce is really a great entertainer in every aspect.

@LizzieDoodle16 Beyonce can't act, she's just thrown in movies. And most of the time she's acting like she does in her music videos, there's no real craft in that type of acting. Aaliyah was two different people in her 2 movie roles, and it showed how versatile and talented she was as an actress. Any recording artist can be thrown in a movie. Come on now, Bow Wow is a better actor than Bey. And if you see girls with bangs over their eyes, tomboy styled clothing with sexiness, that's all Aaliyah!

Secondly, its true that both woman got different styles. It's a preference on who you like more. I like Bey more than Aaliyah, but I respect both as people. Both to me, seem humble. I liked Aaliyah more as an actress than singer, I'm not a huge fan of her music. But to each it's own.
