  • Love, love love that footage of Eddie Kendricks. It made me sad how far he had come and that it was not too far from his last days in this footage. Thank you for sharing that.

  • thank you

  • Miss this voice! A true blessing!

  • that ONE dislike musta been Otis. jealous cause EDDIE was much more talented and he couldnt replace him

  • @XvmerrivX Otis was never more talented than any Temptation. Temptations forever...HA!...to bad he didn't live by that moto.

  • Nice stuff and great package of interviews and performance from Street Gold which is a 92 min. Montage of Ruffin, Kendricks & Edwards with friends. It was produced in 1991 and 1992. Copies are still available by contacting streetgold@aol.com.

  • Hey! I have this whole thing! It was a lovely tribute to both Eddie and David ♥

  • Awwh this was great to watch, he's my second favorite after Paul He really was a gentlemen. Beautiful soul.

  • I wish David and Eddie would have wrote a memoir before their deaths to give their version of things, because we just have Otis Williams word, and I like to know all sides of the story.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever Eddie did say a few things about Otis that werent favorable in the interview with the Urban Street Interviews. check it out! Eddie was a great man.

  • That woman in this video, I forget her name. She was good. She could have been a Temptaton. She kind of resemble Tammi Terrell, I wonder did David have deja vu.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever she is Arthel Nevel!..( the niece of the Nevel Brothers I remember the whole interview

kickin' it with th Temps.. but i thought they were in Detroit.. if its the same interview..

  • Eddie was real cool and seem down to earth. He wasn't running away from fans saying no autographs please, like stars today. He didn't have no bodyguards. He really appreciated his fans. I like that. I judge a person by the way they treat people, I could care less about their talent. I never heard of Eddie abusing women, so I give him a thumbs up.

  • Amazing footage. What a blessing to have that on film.

  • This is so, so, sad to watch how Eddie is so sick, But still have to work,

David, and Eddie no one could out sing them and yet both of them died broke. So sad!!!!

  • This is so, so, sad to watch how Eddie is so sick, But still have to work,

David, and Eddie no one could out sing them and yet both of them died broke. So sad!!!!

  • @peace3316 Yeah, I agree. Where was the Motown family then to help them out?

  • You could tell the cancer was eating away at him in this footage, but amazing he acts like nothing is happening. His voice doesn't change during that difficult time either. ( A real life beauty he was.)

  • Does eddie have a star on the walk of fame in hollywood?

  • @sandrochatlos1 No, he doesn't but The Temptations do.

  • @DiscoNights1987

An hour or so I searched google to see if he was on the WOF. and he wasn't and the tempts. were..

  • @sandrochatlos1 he should

  • Eddie Kendrick was truly blessed by God. He was so handsome with a very nice slim body, lovely smile and most of all a voice like none other. When I was born he was 24 yrs. old, (could have been my daddy). I just wish I was old enough when he was in his prime to actually meet him, hug him and certainly kiss him. I truly hope that he found God during his time of tribulations and sickness. YOU ARE STILL TERRIBLY MISSED AND LOVED MR. EDDIE KENDRICK! May his soul rest in peace.

  • when was this?

  • @sandrochatlos1 This was filmed in 1991.

  • @DiscoNights1987

Thanks! and DO you know if Ed ever did boogie down live in concert? IF he did is there a video?

  • @sandrochatlos1 I'm not too sure if there is concert footage of him performing Boogie Down but I'll keep an eye out if I see it!

  • @DiscoNights1987

    Thanks!

  • 3:57-4:13 is just Beautiful! He moved like an angel!

  • Eddie Kendrick, WOW, the man was THEE falsetto of his era, all other falsetto's who followed him always give him props, and they know he is the basis of that voice being loved to this day. RIP Brother Eddie aka (Cornbread). Luv U Brother.

  • That Autograph cost Thousands of dollars now maybe even Millions!!!!

  • Thank so much for posting this video. :'-(

  • ...........CORN.................

  • I was named after him.... My name is Kendrick.

  • @porterhouse1974 Oh wow, really? I was planning on naming my son Kendrick too! Lol.

  • i read an interview that siad david choose dennis to take his spot.

  • This is off the legends tape real good tape if you can get your hands on it! Eddie is still so handsome. Miss him RIP Mr. Kendrick!

  • You can't help but love Eddie, he was one of the most down to earth professionals that I have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with. Great guy (R.I.P.)

  • Unfortunatley, I wasn't even a year old when Eddie passed away. Seeing videos like this makes me wish I could have met him. I remember hearing songs he sang on when I was a kid and loved them all. Now I'm finding out more about him and he is just so awesome. RIP Eddie. Luckily we have footage like this so we can see Eddie. Witnessing your compassion and friendliness on video and also your moving voice in recordings, makes me feel like I really know you Eddie. RIP

  • @drummerboyjac Very Well-Put !

  • @drummerboyjac

I totally wish I could time travel back in time to about 1974 and meet him and also have him sign my Boogie Down album!....(FYI it's vinyl)

  • I'm mexican, and i love all these music. Beautiful music!

  • Heads Up...New book is out!! Ain't Too Proud To Beg..Mark Ribowsky..

  • "Don't say was!" lol.

  • BARBARA IS CRAZY I WOULDA GOT A HUG, KISS,&& A PICTURE AND I WOULDA SLIPPED HIM MY NUMBER LOL

  • WOW!!!! BEAUTIFUL !!!!

  • I LOVE Eddie forever..He will never die.

  • In the movie they never mentioned anything about davids personal life, I think that was out of respect. But do anybody know if he had any children or was ever married..

  • @stevieplez2, yes David was married and I think he had 3 kids in his marriage. He also had a "common law wife" and a child by her, while he was still married. At the same time as he was married, and had a common law wife, he was dating Tammi Terrell, who who told everyone that her and David were engaged, which pissed David off because of course he couldn't marry her, being already married and all.

Yes, David got around, but that's what made him David.

  • I remember when this show aired,it was like saying goodbye!!! David died and then Eddie ,these were great guys!!!RIP

  • Eddie have so many fans who love and adore him. I wish someone would write a book about his life. I definitely would buy it.

  • @totaly52 YES!! i have been searching everywhere for a book on him and the closest i get is the one by that tony guy. its so frustrating because he is sooo great and i would love to read a book about just him. he's soo facinating. Gone To Soon

  • @JERRiCKKABaBy Let's just hope that one day someone will write a book about this fine gentlemen.

  • @totaly52 Lol i've been praying because he really is a southern gentleman and a sweeetheart. you can jus tell by his spirit. I did hear him say that he would never write a book about the temptations unless he could tell the "gospel" about it. Like you said hopefully someone else will =)

  • @JERRiCKKABaBy Well there may be no book coming out about Eddie anytime soon but new book about the Temptations is being released this September. Not sure if you knew that but if you didn't, I can PM you info on the book if you'd like.

  • @DiscoNights1987 Yea i would like that i guess thats the closest we'll get to learning more about this angel

  • I saw the comment and HAD to reply haha. I just got the book in the mail today and it's GREAT. A must read for a Tempt fan, or music fan in general.

  • I was always in love with Eddie Kendricks, and most Black women back in the day were too. It was not only because of his voice, it was just something about Eddie that would make you melt. He was handsome, and he had style and charisma, not to mention the way he sang in that falsetto. Love that man!

  • I so like his disposition about life. He is mellowing to his closure here. The man had experience at least two serious heartbreaks, laying two best friends to rest. Yet, he smiles.

  • WOWW thanks for this post....really eye-opening!

  • Thank you for this post. Its sad that with so much money in cancer research, we still have not found a cure. If you smoke, take your vitamins, and C, . Vitamin C helps eliminate some of the bad effect of carbon particles in the lung from cigarettes.

  • BLESS YOU FOR THIS POST!!!! What a

    treat!

  • I loved him.

  • This video is invaluable. It's so sad to see him looking so ill. Growing up he was my favorite Temp because he projected such a nice guy image that from this video and another of him turns out to be very true. Thanks so much for this insightful video.

  • I have a renewed appreciation for Eddie Kendricks! He is such a handsome man inside and out, regardless of his weight loss from cancer. There's another good interview on youtube that's very revealing about the type of man Eddie was and his "nonrelationship" with Motown exec Berry Gordy.

Eddie gave new meaning to the falsetto voice! Eddie's falsetto was sweet and tender with passion (not just some guy hitting a high note.)

  • Truly a CLASS ACT!!!

  • I just love this guy.He was my idol growing up and still now.I try to conduct myself the way Eddie did.Whenever I met him he was a real gentleman and very down to earth.Immense naturel talent.Lovely guy.

  • he was a fine man too

  • Anything can happen to you .... at any moment, so you might as well try to be a happy person at all times - Mr. Eddie Kendricks.

    Wise words to live by.

I wish I knew the title to this video. Can anyone help out . Thanks.

  • Hi Its Streegold The original lead singers of the Temptations

  • just a candid moment with one of the all-time greats in the music industry. we love you Eddie!

  • thank you for putting this on. eddie was tha koolest kat

  • magnificent

  • wish i could have been barbara standing there next to eddie, I would have given him a big kiss and hug. it's a shame he was a smoker, we may still of had him here today, david too with out drugs. they will never know how much they were loved not just for their singing, that goes for all the original tempts. god love you guys for the gift you gave us. thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!-

  • wow, he's dying here. Sad.

  • The REAL VOICES OF THE TEMPTS

    were EDDIE,DAVID & DENNIS, during

the 80's & early 90's, prior to David departure in 1989.

Sorry to Otis & Melvin IMITATIONS fans,

these fella's were the real deal.

I refuse to watch this viedo after 5:40

and see the spectre of what Eddie became, choosing rather to remember him as that iconic fashion/handsome

singer I first watched as a teenager singing Keep on Truckin.

What talents, Eddie,David & Big Dennis!

  • David mustve passed right after this cause he was the first out of the two to pass

  • Baby, you got the years confused, but I agree with you, Eddie had gotten much too thin and truly looked weakened by the cancer here, but he was an ICON nonetheless.

  • The man that is twrling around - is that Eddie Kendrick ?

  • Yes, it is! :-)

  • Thanks for posting this video I became a fan of the group in 1988. I did an tribute article on Eddie as well

  • great video!

  • This saddens my heart. You can see what is going on. Otis was right, what is about Eddie? I would have loved to held him in my arms and tell him that every thing is going to be OK. Temptations For Every.

  • Damn i miss Eddie & David man!!! I watched this video ten times in a row. Shit makes me sad yo. R.I.P DAVID RUFFIN & EDDIE KENDRICKS. IT'S ALWAYS THE GOOD ONES THAT HAVE TO DIE.

  • this vid is so old....dennis edwards is about 300 pounds.....pot belly.

  • I love me some Eddie, he was always my favorite.

    RIP kind gorgeous, Eddie.

  • I love this video, I'm only 20 so any interview with Eddie is good

  • Just my Imagination.....what can i say. That song makes me almost cry everytime i hear it because it's so soothing and takes you somewhere ya know? Amazing how much Eddie looks like Marvin Gaye.

  • Rest in peace.. we miss you dearly.

  • just like the sister in the interview, I was blessed to have met Eddie and get his autograph, when he came to b-more's Lafayette Square, sandtown: Unfortunaly this big funky ass ugly bitch name Seal/Sealasaurse threw it away along with me and my kids other stuff, after they

got all she need and wanted. Anyway if she would have read the pale yellow piece of paper and kept it (Eddie's signature and a comment to yours truly) the bitch would be paid by now.

I myself wouldn't trade if for nothing.

  • What happened? Why did that woman throw all of your stuff away? That's really messed up!!

  • @lilsandtown Wow, that's messed up.

  • Eddie was a cfine and mellow man. Some parts of this video you can tell he was ill. He was always thin but , you can tell he was ill. I liked him the best. I don't thnk Otis was very nice to those who suffered. To me he could not dance!!!!

  • This Is From A Tape I Have About The Lead Singers Of The Temptations Unfurtunatly I Cant Put It On Dvd Format. I Dont Have The Stuff To Do It.

  • Not only was Eddie a very handsome man, but by all accounts, he was a very kind and compassionate person. Even though it was said that Otis kept Paul on the payroll during his hardships, it was really Eddie who pushed for it, and when most people had given up on David, Eddie and Dennis were the ones who still believed in him and tried to help him. When Eddie died, he did'nt have anything(financially) but look at these blessings the has left us, his beautiful image and his music, R.I.P

  • Otis and Eddie made peace before he died, and though they did have conflicts they did have a bond, In 1987 Otis said that Eddie came to see the group and Otis ran out and gave him a hug and said it's good seeing you again and Eddie said the same thing, In 1989 at the Rock & Roll Hall of fame ceremony, Otis said that Eddie only spoke to Melvin and their manager-he seemed to been upset at the way Motown had treated the group. They did make up a few days before he died with both cracking jokes

  • wow thanks for the video on here. i love my Eddie Kendricks and can never get enough of him... so thank you!!!

  • in the late 1968s Eddie Kendricks was uncomfortable with singing the psychedelic style that Whitfield was now crafting , (such as the Grammy winner "Cloud Nine" (1968), "I Can't Get Next to You" (1969), and "Ball of Confusion) for the group as opposed to the"I'll Be in Trouble" (,"The Girl's Alright With Me" "Girl (Why You Wanna Make Me Blue)" "Get Ready" Just My Imagination" "You're My Everything under the direction of Smokey Robinson

    he quit 1971

1972 "Girl you need change of Mind"

  • thanks temptations

  • Wow...

    Thanks for this.

  • This is unbelievable!

Is the whole thing obtainable? I'm craving more!

  • This is magnificent, thank you so much for posting

  • Just like being there one more time.

  • "Thats eddie kendricks"

  • a hero

  • Man oh man, i tell you. If Eddie were alive today and had full control over his voice, there is no tenor on the scene that could hang with him (maybe Smokey with his own unique style) . Many, many years ago i was completely blown away by Eddie's rendition of Smokey's "You Can Depend On Me". I knew Eddie was a mellow singer, but i didn't think anyone could sing that song as silky smooth and as sweet as Smokey could. Man, was i wrong. Check it out if you've never heard it before.

  • Thewordkeeper, You are absolutely right, Eddie put a hurtin on that song. I like Smokey version, BUT Eddie did it 100 percent better, trust me. RIP by brother,

  • where are they at? in detroit? holy shit

  • This Is a video documentary. I was blessed to have seen the entire video and even had the copy and then someone lifted it. Do you know where it can be purchased or the name of the video? Thanks for the footage and God bless.

  • Great!!!!!!!!!!!

  • When this was filmed David just died and Eddie less than a year later.. Drugs & alcholol!!!!!

  • Who died from alcohol? Eddie died of lung cancer from smoking.

  • Paul was an alcoholic which lead him to his suicide, absolutely tragic

  • Paul died from suicide in 1973. David died from a crack overdose in 1991 and Eddie died from lung cancer in 1992

  • @MUSICENCYLOPEDIA Alot of people say Paul's was a suicide, but I believe there is more to his death than what is stated. I think it was foul play thats being covered up in mystery, bottom line Paul's death is always such a tragedy

  • @lisabo092 That's true. Many people still don't know what to beleive, but we lost a talented man

  • @lisabo092 Yes Eddie Doubted That It Was Suicide & David Said "why would anyone get into his car with only his underwear on, drive to within a few blocks of Motown and using his right hand, shoot himself in the left side of his head? It didn't make sense."

  • When this was filmed, I wonder how much longer Eddie was with us? I know he was a slender man but he looked pretty thin in this footage.

  • 2:10 LoL

    i luv Eddie!

  • thank you for posting

  • This made me like Eddie even more :)

  • Wonderful! Great to see his fan interaction. Very gratifying to hear his thoughts on happiness, and the wisdom and tact he displays regarding David. Much appreciation for posting.

  • What a Treasure!!! They had pure God given "TALENT" yet,The Powers that be held them back..all to familiar.Artist's of their caliber will NEVER come again..FOREVER LOVE

  • Wow this is really special. I, like millions of others grew up listening to them but I'd never seen an in depth interview. This is the first time I've heard Eddie speak. So this one is really special. Thanks DiscoNights.

  • His spirit lives on in his music. I always have and always will adore him. Peace out, Eddie!

  • i love this man

  • I wish the ones that are dead were still alive.

  • dont we all!!!

  • i luv this dude

  • "oh I was in love with Eddie!"

    "don't say was.."

    lol I adore Eddie!

  • Its so sad to see this hanson looking and talented man (Eddie) is no longer with us. What a voice. This man could sing There's only ONE Eddie Kendrick! He was also loyal to David Ruffin when the other members of the Temptation sack him. Thanks whoever post this video wish its was longer. What the name of the DVD? Iwouldlike to buy it.

  • I hear that I would have sold my soul to have met Eddie Kendrick!!!

  • Thanks 'tinaloveseddie'I found this on your channel.

Pure Gold...I wish I had met this beautiful, sweet man!

  • this is the streetgold video

  • He may be physically dead but he and his beautiful spirit live on through his art. He made so many people happy with his everlasting smile, graceful charm and calm demeanor. He is magic personified! His sweet soulful voice soothes my heart and doesn't allow fear to live there for long....

Look into his smiling eyes, soak up his joy and remember what makes you feel alive!!

  • could not have said it BETTER. DITTO!!!

  • There's such thing as heaven and hell -.-

  • eddie kendricks is my all time favorite temptation!

  • At 4:29-4:31, isn't that the autograph lady, Barbara--now with hair done and make-up? It looks like the same lady. I love when he was signing the autograph and he said, "The girl know" concerning Barbara's comments about his songs. He was soooooooooooo wonderful!!!

  • Eddie's look at 1:55 just kills me!!

  • I wish I could of been that lady who got Eddie's autograph-- I can't believe she did'nt ask for a kiss or a hug? I would of hugged him and never let go! I love his kindness and his sweet laugh.

  • I have this dvd, it's classic soul thanks.

  • Where did you get this dvd?

  • I realize after seeing this video we meaning the fans were blessed!! To have witnessed the most talented singers of ALL TIME. We might not of known them personally but we knew them. I get mad at myself when an old school concert comes to town and I choose not to go for whatever reason.. then later down the road they've passed on.. The greatest singers-re gone but the cherish the ones still around.God only knows who's next.. God Bless the TEMPS!! We'll see them one day!

  • You wouldn't happen to have the Eddie Kendricks interview with Donny Simpson, on BET, I think, would you?

  • I have that interview on VHS tape. How can I put it on YouTube????

  • I love that one thats by far my favorite Temptation song Just my Imagination. Eddie Kendricks

  • Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin are my all time favorite Temps. I wish I could've met them. They were and still are God's gift to me. I pray that I will meet them in Heaven.

  • your so lucky

  • This footage is from the video Streetgold not sure if its still available but I wrote to them to get a copy.Just google streetgold entertainment

  • Yea! I think they are still selling the video on their site. I just visited their webpage this past weekend and by the way your story about meeting Eddie was great! You were VERY lucky to have met him in person! I wish I had been a lot older and the opportunity to meet Eddie! Oh, and did you frame his autograph afterwards? Lol.... :-)

  • Unfortunately all I had to hand was the envelope I got the tickets in and the signature is in the back of that lol not very grand but very special memories

  • Eddie took the time to ask me and my wifes name and gave a personal touch to the autograph which was nice.I noticed him do that with everyone.Dennis and David stayed in the Limo whereas Eddie was outside chatting to everyone. He also left in the tour bus with the band

  • do you also have a video with dennis edwards singing lead with david and eddie in the background ?? if you have itplease post it dennis edwards is my favourite temp =)

  • True as he said I met Eddie in 1991 when he toured the UK.He was the first to come out back and meet and greet everyone. He signed an autograph for me that night and had time for everyone there, a very genuine guy very down to earth but a legend .

  • u met eddie kendricks

  • yes met him David and Eddie in 1991 when they toured the UK.Met them backstage in May 1991 and spent a bit of time chatting to them and getting autographs.Eddie was a cool guy for sure and was really easy to talk to.Didnt do the superstar thing at all.Dennis was the same and David was David, just loved being the superstar still had time for all us fans all 3 of them.A great night I`ll never forget.Saw them live a number of times on that tour
