this is awesome... i have been having problems with Keratosis Pilaris as well. its something i've kind of hidden for a while but i dream of finding something that can help get rid of it or at least minimize the effects. good luck!
Thanks! I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me. Early last year my kp went away and I have no idea why. It came back a few months later so I'm trying to figure out what was different during that period and see if I can recreate it at all. If I figure it out, I'll be sure to post my findings. Good luck with your search too!
I don't think I have celiac disease. I have none of the symptoms commonly associated with it - and removing gluten from my diet didn't affect my keratosis. Oddly enough, I didn't seem to be allergic to anything I was eating (except milk, which I already knew). So I'm still trying to figure out what triggers these bumps, although they do seem to be lessening and I'm not getting any new ones as of late. Which is a bit distressing because I have no idea I am/am not doing to make them go away.
Celiac is also known as the 'silent killer' because the symptoms are so varied. There's also silent Celiac which has no symptoms at all. 1 in 133 people have Celiac disease, so if your nutritionist has had you cut out gluten, you might want to get checked for this.
I have Keratosis Pilaris too and AmLactin lotion works for me. You can get it at Fred Meyer for sure or Walmart maybe. It won't be in the pharmacy but ask the pharmacist and they'll know where its at in the store. Its about 16 dollars but the bottle is big and it lasted a year for me. :) good luck!
My doctor recomended Alpha Hydroxy 8% cream for my Keatosis Pilaris but it made my skin worst, so I found something more natural that really works. I get 1cp of oatmeal, 2-3 tsp of coconut oil, 2-3 tsp of vanilla extract, 2-3 tsps of pure olive oil, and blend it together until it creates a thick paste. Then I use the paste in the shower and scrub it real good with a loofah and it really works, I suggest it!
Wow, that sounds interesting. How often do you use it? My skin has actually been getting better with my Vitamin C scrub, but there are still some stubborn parts. I may have to give this a try on those parts.
If you have senstive dry skin, I suggest you use the scrub twice a week but if not, you can use it 3-4 times a week and if you have the time to do it, EVERYDAY IS FINE! =]
I use Vita C+ Skin Nutrients Exfoliating Apricot Citrus Scrub. It's made by Beyond Belief. I get it at Sally's Beauty Supply. I use it when I shower. I make sure my showers are nice and hot and my pores are completely open. After I finish washing, I exfoliate my arms and chest with it and it has made the bumps on my upper arms and chest go away. I haven't used it long enough to see if the dark spots go away, but we'll see what happens over time. Maybe they'll fade on their own. Good luck!
The elimination diet didn't get rid of the KP for me, but steamy showers with a vitamin C scrub seem to be having some kind of effect. I'll post an update regarding it if I can confirm that it's working enough to show a dramatic difference. Thanks for posting! =)
Hi i was just browsing vids that had information about KP and came across your's. Im Black as well and i have the same condidtion as u do.the other vids that i've seen were with caucasins, so im not sure if their suggestions would help based on the fact that we have different skin type.
Have u gotten rid of ur KP?
I need some suggestion on what to try, that may work.
I did the elimination diet through to its completion, but it unfortunately didn't have any effect on my KP. Although, I'm doing some things to my skin that seems to keep it from getting worse, and maybe it's just my imagination but it may even be slowly getting better. I shower in very hot water now and do an Vitamin C scrub while in the shower. The bumps on my skin seem to be disappearing. I'm hoping that the discoloration follows. If I can confirm it's working, I'll do another update on this.

Hi,
Could you please tell me the name of your vitamin C scrub. I have been using the Zirth bar, but I don't think it is really working for my KP.

I will try it. My KP is spreading to my chest area and I need to stop it before it gets worst.
Thank you so much.
