Paul was talking to newly converted Christians, he was explaining to them that the sacrificial laws are done away with, there is no more need for the schoolmaster that was given to point them to Christ, it contained 7 annual sabbaths, which all were a part of Christ's ministry, when Jesus died He was the ultimate sacrifice and this law died with Him.

Because of this God gave them His law (10 Comd's) and another law to live under (Mosaic or sacrificial law). Paul was talking to newly converted Christians, he was explaining to them that the sacrificial laws are done away with, there is no more need for the schoolmaster that was given to point them to Christ, it contained 7 annual sabbaths, which all were a part of Christ's ministry, when Jesus died He was the ultimate sacrifice and this law died with Him.

They took a lamb (symbol of Christ) and went to the alter to receive purification by FAITH, they needed to have FAITH, Christ had not died yet, they needed to believe that it was in His sacrifice to come that atoned for their sin, the killing of the lamb didn't actually achieve anything, it was all symbolic of Christ. This system proved to them how hopeless they were, they could not keep His laws by their own deeds, they needed a saviour, CHRIST.

It was a schoolmaster in the sense it pointed them to the solution, CHRIST, so when Christ died this law was made null and void, the handwritten law of Moses was of no more effect.

This did not negate Gods law, all it did was free them from death by human hand, if they broke it, they had Christ to forgive them.
